At Society, Diane and Jack saw Claire and Victoria and stopped to say hello. They gave an update since the Ian and Jordan drama and Victor’s shooting. Jack quipped that he was glad Victor was okay, but it gave him an opportunity to imagine a world without him in it. Victoria was miffed, but Diane reminded her that Victor had turned their son against them. Jack added that Victor recently undermined Billy by getting Jill to pull the rug out from under him.
Victoria agreed that she didn’t agree with some of her parents’ decisions about Chancellor and told them so but thought Billy had himself to blame. Jack defended his brother, but Victoria said that was Jill’s doing, not her father’s. Jack told Victoria that he understood her need to defend Victor, but eventually, she wouldn’t be able to defend the indefensible and sensed that day would be coming soon. “Meaning?” Victoria snapped. Jack asked how she would feel when Victor started to manage and control Claire’s life.
After Jack and Diane had walked away, Claire had questions about Jack's comments. Victoria reluctantly told her that Victor had her arrested on her wedding day to Billy. Given her experiences, and despite defending Victor to Jack, Victoria assured Claire that he wanted her to be with whoever she loved. Claire shared that right now, it was Kyle she wanted to be with. Victoria advised her to follow her heart and ignore Victor.
Across the restaurant, Diane tried again to get Jack to agree to redecorate the house, but he balked again. Jack told Diane that Traci had spoken to him as well. He knew what Diane wanted to do would look stunning, but it was hard to let go of his memories. Diane promised to be respectful of the past.

At the main house, Nick asked Victor if he was actually trying to encourage Summer to get back with Kyle. Victor said he didn’t know why he would discourage it. Nick knew that Victor was hoping that Summer and Kyle being close would drive him and Claire apart. Nick figured out that it was all about Victor’s hatred of Jack. “I don’t understand why Kyle isn’t good enough for Claire,” Nick said. “He isn’t!” Victor insisted. “Then why on earth is Kyle good enough for Summer?” Nick asked.
Victor said it was different because Summer was tougher than Claire, and also there was Harrison involved. Nick scolded him for imposing his will on people’s relationships but Victor denied doing that. Nick pointed out that Victor believed he knew what was best for everyone, but they were adults.
Victor said he believed in families having fathers and mothers. Nick questioned why he didn’t share that opinion when it came to Victoria’s children. “Oh please, that’s Billy Boy Abbott!” Victor snapped. Nick added that Victor wouldn’t advocate him getting back together with Sharon or Phyllis. “I love you but it’s Summer’s life,” Nick told him. Victor protested that Claire was innocent and he didn’t want her falling in love with that ”Abbott idiot.”
Nick told Victor that he could protect them all he wanted from the Ian Wards and Jordan Howards of the world, but he needed to let them make their own life choices. Nick defended Kyle when Victor made disparaging remarks, but Victor told him to stop talking about the “damn Abbotts” as he “couldn’t stand that lot.” He said he wanted Claire to shine as brightly as Summer did.
Victoria came by and told Victor about her conversation with Claire and the advice that she gave to her. Victor blew up at her and Nick and said that he wouldn’t apologize for wanting what was best for his family. He said he was in pain and had a business meeting to attend and didn’t want to discuss any more Abbott crap. “How is it that I can worry about a life without Dad when I want to strangle him at the same time?” Victoria asked Nick when Victor walked out.
At the Abbott mansion, Harrison was thrilled when Summer came over. He told his parents that their ‘family night’ could be like Halloween and hoped that they would hug again. Harrison revealed how he’d secretly seen them hugging. His parents reiterated that they weren’t together and weren’t getting back together either. Harrison knew Kyle was seeing Claire but hoped they could have more family time. Kyle said despite their divorce, they were a family. Summer told Harrison she felt bad that Harrison felt like they weren't.
Kyle, Summer, and Harrison made his diorama project for school. Harrison was happy that they had a lot of laughs and hugs together. Harrison thought things were going well, so he tried to ask for a puppy. Summer was all smiles until Harrison asked them to take a photo of his diorama and send it to Claire.
Claire called as Summer had suggested doing a group photo. They took the call instead and put her on speaker. Harrison shared that Summer was there, too. “We did it as a family. I wish you could have been here; then it would have been perfect!” Harrison exclaimed as Summer grimaced and gulped her wine.
At Nate’s, he and Amy waited anxiously for Damian. He knocked on the door, and Nate opened it. Damian entered, very somber. He didn’t want to hug Amy and instead turned his attention to Nate. He called him out for lying about his job offer. Damian told Amy he didn’t want to hear anything. He said he liked the life he had built for himself and suggested Amy liked hers without him in it. Amy revealed she didn’t have much life left. “What’s that supposed to mean?” Damian asked. “I’m dying,” Amy replied.
Damian questioned if Amy’s health status it was another lie. Amy explained she had leukemia and said she might have a few months if she was lucky. Damian apologized and was taken aback. Damian said it felt like hearing about his dad again, and he hadn’t thought about that in a long time. Damian backed off from his feelings and wanted to leave. Amy said there was more he needed to know. “Jackson was a wonderful man. But he wasn’t your biological father,” Amy stammered to get out.
Damian had a strong reaction, telling her that she was wrong. Nate tried to calm Damian down every time he exploded. Damian said it was a mistake to come there. “Even if you are dying, why tell me this now?” Damian asked. Amy said when she was gone, she wanted him to know that he wasn’t alone.
Amy explained who Nathan Hastings was and that he had died years ago. Damian connected the names and looked at Nate as Amy revealed they were half-brothers. Damian had enough of the truth bombs and wanted to go. He told them that they didn’t need to be worrying about him as he had a great life.
Nate questioned how great Damian’s life could be, which made Damian even more suspicious of their intentions. Nate and Amy thought that was a good time to tell him that they knew he ran Monte Cristo Investments. Amy reminded Damian he was never good with money and didn’t have any. Nate and Amy questioned how he got to where he was.
Damian didn’t feel the need to catch them up on his life’s successes, as Amy had lied to him and his father his entire life. He asked Nate why he was involved and how long he knew. Nate started to tell him how he met Amy but Damian didn’t want to hear any of it from either of them.
He asked if Amy got a second opinion, and she said she did. Damian knew that Nate had been a doctor. Nate said he knew some good oncologists who could be recommended to see Amy. “So I see you’re in good hands. I’m sorry for what you’re dealing with. I am. But I can’t go back. I can’t be there for you the way you would like me to. I can’t watch another parent slip away. Even if Jackson wasn’t my biological father, he was the only father I’ve ever had,” Damian explained.
Damian told Nate that he didn’t know what his deal was, but he wasn’t looking for family. “I’m sorry for wasting your time,” Damian said before walking out. Amy sobbed and sank to the couch as the door closed. “I just told my only son I was dying, and he didn’t even care,” she cried. Nate disagreed and said that Damian was just in shock and needed time to process. Amy cried that she didn’t have the time. Nate promised to track him down. “One way or another, I will get through to my brother,” he told her.
