In her room at the Athletic Club, Diane anxiously waited for Victor to call. Instead, it was Nikki who wanted to tell Diane to back off. Diane tried to dismiss her, so Nikki invited herself inside the room. “I know what you’re trying to do, and I’ll be damned if I let you get away with it,” Nikki told her.
Diane said she had enough going on and told Nikki to leave. “I don’t have any sympathy for you or your problems,” Nikki snarled. She told Diane that she brought everything upon herself. "If you think you can exploit Victor’s negative feelings towards Jack, you are sorely mistaken. I won’t allow it,” Nikki said firmly. Nikki said the war between Jack and Victor needed to end, but Diane snickered and disagreed. She said the war would never end until there was a distinct winner and loser.
Diane told Nikki she couldn’t keep sitting on the fence and needed to pick a side. Nikki said she wasn’t going to choose between the two men. Nikki told Diane she didn’t know Jack very well, but Diane said she loved him until he turned on her.
Nikki thought Diane inserted herself into Jack and Victor’s battle, but she wouldn’t let her stay involved. “Jack is literally the reason I’m standing here today, and for that reason, I will fight for him and protect him with everything in me. Got that? Stop trying to sell Victor this plan of yours. No matter how much progress you think you’ve made, you’re no match for me,” Nikki said as she walked out.

Victor summoned Kyle to the Athletic Club for a meeting. Kyle assumed that Victor wanted to discuss Glissade. Kyle told Victor they were days away from the launch of the new product. He assured Victor that he didn’t know the status of his parents’ marriage and that his father had not asked him to return to Jabot. Kyle reiterated that he wouldn’t be interested even if he were asked, and he was focused on the launch. Victor told Kyle to stop focusing on Glissade. “In fact, don’t involve yourself in any activities at Glissade for the time being,” Victor added.
Victor told Kyle that he didn’t owe him an explanation. “Kindly do what I want,” Victor said. Kyle asked if it had anything to do with the cryptic comment Victor made the last time they spoke about finding the answers he was looking for. “Did I say or do anything to make you pull the rug out from under me like this?” Kyle asked. Victor told him his mother had the answers. “Your mother’s out for blood,” Victor said.
Kyle thought Victor misunderstood Diane’s intentions. Victor told Kyle that Diane wanted her son to fail at Glissade. “She threatened to sue for the way you took that new formula from Jabot for Glissade,” Victor added. Kyle was surprised but said he would deal with it. Kyle didn’t think it made sense and said that Diane had betrayed Jack, not the other way around. Victor thought it was interesting that Kyle had sympathy towards Jack.
Nikki was walking towards them, but Diane came up behind her. She told Nikki that she couldn’t just talk to her like that and then walk away. Nikki told Diane she didn’t want to hear anything she had to say. “Unless you’re going to say you’re leaving Genoa City for good,” Nikki added. Diane was startled when she heard Kyle’s voice in the restaurant behind them. “What the hell are you up to now?” Kyle growled at his mom.
Diane asked Victor what he had said to her son, but he ignored her. Victor told Nikki there was something he wanted to show her, and they left. Kyle told Diane that he wanted answers, but she didn’t want to talk to him. “You don’t get to play the victim. I am the son you abandoned. What did you say to Victor?” Kyle demanded. He asked if Diane was really going to sue Glissade.
Kyle told Diane that she wanted to ruin him. They argued again about why and how she fired him from Jabot. “I’m about to show the world I do have what it takes. You want to take that away from me. I want answers,” Kyle said. “The last time you asked me a question, I opened my heart to you,” Diane said. She noted that all Kyle hears is negativity to use against her. Kyle accused Diane of colluding with Victor against her own son. “Did Vicotr tell you that?” Diane asked. “You really think he would keep your confidence when you wanted to hurt someone who was loyal to him?” Kyle said.
Back at Victor’s office, Nikki told Victor what she said to Diane. Victor said it was Jack’s problem for marrying “that broad” in the first place. Nikki thought Victor was making Diane feel emboldened. Nikki said Victor was using Diane to hurt Jack. She asked Victor to give his word to end the war with Jack.
Victor told Nikki he would do as she asked if Nikki stayed away from Diane. He suggested they stop talking about it as he had something personal to show her. He was waiting for a call to make sure everything was ready before he could share the surprise. “After all these years, you are still a man of mystery,” Nikki said.
Victor got a text confirmation and said they were headed to the ranch. Diane burst in and told Victor she needed to talk to him alone. “How the hell did you get past security?” Victor asked. Diane asked Victor why he betrayed her to Kyle. “We had a deal,” Diane said. Victor told her that she was going to stab Kyle in the back. Diane retorted that she had no choice but to sue Glissade for stealing her idea.
“You do that, Diane Jenkins, and you commit career suicide,” Victor said. Diane said she wouldn’t have to if he fired Kyle and turned Glissade over to her. Diane left, and Nikki said it was now obvious that he was Glissade’s investor. Nikki wondered what he would do next, but Victor didn’t want to discuss it anymore, and they left for the ranch.
Kyle came home to find Claire and Harrison playing cards. Kyle was cheered up by the hugs he got from his son. Once alone, Kyle asked Claire to have dinner with him.
After Heather’s memorial service, Summer and Chance went to Society. Summer pointed out what a toll everything was taking on Daniel. “Even after seeing how distraught he is, you still think you arrested the right person?” Summer asked. “Summer, I know you’re upset about that. I was just doing my job,” Chance explained. Summer wished he could have found a way around arresting her brother, but Chance claimed he had done what he had to do. “It seems like a lot of people are having a hard time accepting that,” Chance noted. Chance asked if it would be a problem for them moving forward or if it was something they could get past.
Summer unenthusiastically said that she hoped she and Chance could get through it, but it bothered her a lot that he arrested Daniel. “Your job is to catch bad guys, not my brother,” Summer said. Chance insisted he didn’t enjoy it. “If you’re leading the investigation, why couldn’t you have waited until there was another suspect?” Summer asked. Chance said there was no other suspect, and all the evidence was found in Daniel’s apartment.
“Planted or not, it was there,” Chance said. He said that when the D.A. got wind of it, she demanded Daniel’s arrest. “So you guys don’t care if evidence was planted or not?” Summer asked. Chance insisted he had no evidence that pointed in any other direction. Summer said her brother was going through hell, and the fact that her boyfriend put him there was eating her up. “I saw the evidence in his house,” Chance said. Summer told him she didn’t need the reminder. “One of the reasons I took this case was because of you,” Chance reminded Summer.
Summer said she wanted Chance on the case because she thought he would find answers. Chance thought things would be much worse for Daniel if someone else were on the case. Chance insisted he was just following orders and hoped Summer would consider that when she figured out if they would survive it or not.
Summer said she didn’t want to lose what they had, and Chance was happy to hear it. Summer explained she was worried about Daniel and what would happen to him and Lucy. Chance said he was trying to think of something he may have missed and didn’t want Daniel to go to prison. Summer asked for his opinion about Phyllis’ theory that Sharon had something to do with Heather’s murder.
Chance said it was a tough theory to accept. Summer agreed but said that she saw Sharon’s behavior at the funeral, and she looked like she was going to crack. Chance thought that emotions were high. Summer said the more she watched Sharon, the more she saw fear in her eyes. “I think my mom could be onto something,” Summer added.
Chance thought Phyllis’ opinion of Sharon was skewed, but Summer pointed out he was also because of his relationship with Sharon. Summer noted that Chance sounded really sure that Sharon wasn’t capable of murdering Heather. Chance reiterated that there was no proof to even look in her direction.
Summer and Chance were interrupted when Kyle and Claire came into Society for dinner. Kyle apologized to Summer for not making it to Heather’s service. Claire seemed more put off that he and Claire were out for dinner together. Summer sipped her martini as Kyle and Claire went to a table. “Looks like that’s turning into a thing,” Chance said. He noted Summer’s reaction and asked if she had a problem with it. Summer said that as long as Claire was a good nanny to Harrison, she didn’t care what she and Kyle did in their spare time. Chance didn’t look too convinced.
At their table, Kyle asked Claire if she would accompany him to Abby’s wedding. Claire said she would love to go with Kyle, and he was pleased. Claire asked what had happened earlier that made him upset. Kyle realized that Claire knew that Victor was the secret investor of Glissade. Claire also knew about the war between Victor and Jack and some of their history.
Claire asked why Victor wanted Kyle to run Glissade. Kyle said he had no idea anymore, and every day was like a new loyalty test. “What happens if you fail one of his tests?” Claire asked. “Not sure I want to find out,” Kyle admitted.
Back in her room, Diane was beside herself. She poured herself a drink and grabbed her phone. She made a call and to whoever answered, Diane said, “Hey, it’s me. No, things are not good. We have a problem. Things are not turning out the way we planned.”
Victor led Nikki to the front door with a blindfold on. He removed the blindfold, and Nikki gasped. Stunned and tearful, Nikki realized she was standing in the newly rebuilt replica of her beloved ranch house. “Welcome home, my darling, welcome home,” Victor said.
