At a cafe in L.A., Damian was suspicious of Nate and wondered why he was being headhunted when his track record didn’t warrant the interest. Nate agreed there was more to the story. He said his interest in hiring him was legitimate, but meeting him face-to-face was personal. Nate said the way Damian moved around from job to job interested him. Nate said he’d changed careers from being a doctor, but it was a long story for another time. “But what turned things around for me was my family,” Nate said. He said he segued to the corporate world with the love and support of his family. “Where do I fit into this?” Damian wondered.
Nate said he read his resume and felt like they were kindred spirits. He wanted to pay it forward and wondered if he was someone who needed a break. Damian said he could be picky, and when it felt like he was treading water, he moved on. Nate wondered if Damian’s restlessness wasn’t random. “You know exactly what you’re doing and why you’re doing it,” Nate suggested. Damian laughed that Nate wanted to know so much about a stranger.
Nate told him that he recognized the connections to The Count of Monte Cristo and all the details he’d picked up on. He guessed that Damian worked for someone who owned Monte Cristo Investments and Danglars Properties and that he jumped around to check out the firms that he owned. Damian thought Nate was smart and did his research. “I need someone my family can rely on. Yes, you moved around a lot, but they trust you,” Nate told him. He asked Damian if he was close. Damian said for argument's sake, if he was, what does it matter to Nate?
Nate said Winters would benefit from Damian’s ability to move around so much by working in strategic planning for the company’s financial department. He asked where the offer ended, and Nate told him that if he excelled, he would be rewarded and that the sky was the limit. Damian thought it was a good fit for him if Nate’s theory about him was correct. He wondered why Nate thought he would want to leave his position in L.A. to move to the Midwest. Nate said money would motivate him and asked if he was interested in the opportunity.

Damian said the meeting seemed surreal and was coming at him from left field. He asked for time to think it over. Nate said he was heading back to Genoa City for an important meeting. Damian asked him to send him the offer, and he would give his decision soon. Nate told Damian he was looking forward to continuing their discussion as he shook his hand to leave. “We’ll see,” Damian told him.
After Damian left, Nate summoned Audra and Amy to join him at the cafe. He recapped what they talked about at the meeting. Amy was happy Nate made contact. Nate wasn’t sure if Damian had taken the bait or not. He explained that Damian was going to think about the job offer and let him know. “Nothing seemed to ruffle him,” Nate added.
“Well, that hasn’t been my experience with Damian,” Amy told them. She said their arguments could be heard all the way down the street. “Not with me. He was methodical with his answers and questions. And he had a lot of them,” Nate recalled. Audra asked if Nate thought Damian suspected him. “The thing is, I don’t think he’s even interested in the job,” Nate warned. Audra asked why he thought that and Nate explained that it was because Damian didn’t jump at it.
“When I mentioned more money, it didn’t appear to interest him. I got the sense that he was comfortable where he was and not really looking for a change,” Nate told Audra and Amy. He added that Damian did say he would think about it, but he wasn’t too optimistic. Audra suggested that the next time Nate talked to Damian, it was time to get real and tell him the truth about him, Amy, and all of it.
At Crimson Lights, Nick joined Chance in a booth. Chance said he did what Nick asked and tried to get permission for him to help the police in their search but was turned down. He shared that the divers had searched for hours, and there was no sign of Sharon on land or in the river, dead or alive. Nick tried to look at the fact that they didn’t find Sharon as a good thing, as it at least suggested she was still alive. Chance thought it was possible and assured Nick that the police were exploring every idea they had.
Michael was summoned to the ranch, and Victor told him that Ian was back in town. Victor told him what he knew but wanted to know more. He tasked Michael with finding out what Ian was doing in town and what his motive was. Michael said Ian had a clean prison record and had been ordained, but there was no proof he was involved with what happened to Heather or Sharon. He wondered if he’d been on the level. Victor insisted there was nothing good about Ian.
Victor shared that Ian claimed to have sent a letter to the police stating that if anything happened to him, it was because of the Newmans. Victor instructed Michael to find out if that was true, and he confirmed it with the police. Victor instructed Michael to get rid of Ian, clarifying that he wanted Michael to find a way to get Ian back behind bars immediately but Michael didn’t think it was going to be an easy thing to make happen. Victor said he paid him as much as he did because he always came through.
Chance and Nick came to the ranch, and Michael and Victor informed Chance that they thought that Ian Ward was behind Sharon’s disappearance and Heather’s murder. As that was the first time Chance had heard about any of it, he asked them to tell him what they knew. Nick stopped them from telling Chance more. “I’m tired of all the talking. I’m going to do something about it!” Nick said defiantly before stomping out. Victor explained that Nick was going to look for Sharon and hoped it wasn’t too late.
Michael wondered if it was a good idea for Nick to go after Ian, given the letter he sent to the police. Michael didn’t think Nick cared about boundaries in the mood he was in. Victor said that Ian needed the message that they wouldn’t be pushed around and wanted to take his confidence away. “What if Nick decides to transmit that message with his fists?” Michael asked.
In the motel room, Ian searched the news for news about Sharon’s crash. He knew the car must have been found by now, so he wondered if Jordan had carried out the task as assigned. Jordan said she did everything Ian asked of her. Ian wondered where the proof was. Ian wanted Jordan to tell him again every step she had taken with Sharon, but she balked. She told him that she drove the car to the river to the exact spot where Heather was found; she drove the car into the river with Sharon’s unconscious body in it. She didn’t think Ian appreciated all the work she’d done for him. Ian was worried about the lack of news on it, but Jordan insisted that Sharon wouldn’t bother them anymore.
Jordan said Ian was panicking and not making good decisions. She wanted to focus on getting her own justice but Ian was worried the police would be knocking on the door. Jordan told him that Sharon was taken care of and she was starting to think that her needs weren’t going to ever be a priority to Ian.
Nick pounded on the motel room door, so Jordan hid in the bathroom. When Ian opened the door, Nick told him he wasn’t leaving until he got some answers about Sharon’s disappearance. Ian clutched his Bible while Jordan listened from the bathroom.
Nick grabbed Ian and threw him out of the way so he could slam the door. He told Ian that Sharon disappeared on New Year’s Eve around the same time he showed up. Ian said he couldn’t be in two places at the same time and knew nothing about her disappearance. Ian said he was sorry “if something happened to poor Sharon.” “Especially as I haven’t made my amends to her, but concerning her disappearance, I have the best possible alibi: You,” Ian told him.
Nick told Ian he would bet his life on it that he was behind Sharon missing. He said it didn’t matter that he’d seen Ian that night, all hell broke loose whenever Ian showed up. Ian could see why he wouldn’t be given the benefit of the doubt given his “regrettable history.” Ian told Nick, “I guess I need to accept every bad thing that happens in Genoa City is attributable to me.” Nick snapped at him that he wouldn’t listen to any more of his crap. “I sincerely hope that nothing bad has happened to Sharon,” Ian said, noting that he would pray for her. Nick warned Ian that he had better pray that nothing happened to Sharon. “Because if it has, I’ll tear you apart,” Nick warned menacingly. Ian stared at him as Jordan looked worried, listening through the bathroom door.
In the old sewer, Sharon was chained to a pipe and weakly calling for help. She got louder as a shadow appeared. “I was wondering when you’d finally feel the need to conjure me back up,” Cameron said. He asked if she missed him. He realized they were in the spot where Sharon had stabbed him in the heart, and his blood stains were still on the floor. Cameron said whoever brought her there had a sick sense of humor. Sharon didn’t see who took her but wondered if whoever did it, didn’t come back, and she was stuck down there forever.
Sharon and Cameron had a conversation about crimes, guilt, and growth. Sharon worried that she’d never have the chance to make up for the horrible things she’s done to Heather’s family. Cameron agreed that guilt could be overwhelming, which is why he never indulged in it. Sharon said if she didn’t survive this situation, she would never be cleared for Heather’s murder. Cameron suggested she find a way to fix that.
Cameron wouldn’t let Sharon nod off. He got her to think about who could have kidnapped her and killed Heather. Cameron said whoever it was had been targeting, bringing down Sharon, it didn’t matter who got killed. He added that they counted on Sharon going to jail, not framing Daniel instead. Sharon realized that as soon as the police reopened Heather’s murder case, she became a liability. He pointed out that whoever it was, they dragged her down to the exact spot where she killed him. “A place where no one is likely to find you,” Cameron added as Sharon started to cry.
Sharon couldn’t understand why someone would leave her down there with food and water if they wanted to get rid of her so badly. Sharon was crying to Cameron that she needed to find a way out. Cameron told her to wiggle out of the cuffs, but she tried it, and it didn’t work. They squabbled, and Cameron laughed and said he missed their back and forth. Sharon regretted whatever addled part of her brain summoned him back.
Sharon yelled for help, but Cameron told her she was wasting her strength. He suggested she calm down and think. Sharon agreed that no one would ever find her there. She feared that her family thought she had another breakdown and took off. “After everything that I’ve put them through, I wouldn’t blame them for thinking the worst. Except for Nick,” Sharon said. Cameron scoffed at Nick always being her knight. Sharon said Nick believed in her innocence but wondered if he’d put the pieces together and figure out what happened to her. “You better hope so,” Cameron told her as she sobbed.
