Summer filled Kyle in on Phyllis’s status — she’d been rescued — at Crimson Lights. Kyle asked how Chance and Nick were able to find Phyllis and Sharon in an abandoned psychiatric hospital. An equally curious Summer wondered who did this to her mom and Sharon. And, if their captors didn’t get what they wanted, what’s to stop them from coming after Phyllis — or another family member — again?

A cheerful Claire joined Kyle and Summer and learned that Phyllis was back home – after she and Sharon both had been kidnapped. A concerned Claire said she knew how disconcerting being in physical danger could be. “Yeah, you know,” Summer deftly shot back, a clear dig at Claire’s past machinations with her Aunt Jordan and the havoc they wreaked on the lives of the Newman family. Sure, Claire was duped by her late aunt — but she still took part in the initial machinations.

Summer kept up a brave and lively front as she told Kyle that a classmate of Harrison’s was mean to him over Phyllis’s kidnapping, but that Harrison was brave. Kyle wanted to know why Summer hadn't already told him this. Summer said she only just discovered it. Claire let Summer know that she and Kyle still had a wonderful night together despite her past interruption. The tension between the two women didn't get too heated but there was no love lost between them.

Kyle and Claire make a date for dinner. She was excited to get her hair done after work. Claire kissed Kyle goodbye and made her way to the exit. Before she left, she told Summer that she was glad that Phyllis was back. Summer shot Claire a smile but had nothing to say to her. After Claire left, Summer made her move. “Sounds like you’re free for lunch?” Summer asked her ex-husband, and added, “I could be free.” Later, Kyle and Summer showed up at the Genoa City Athletic Club where they ran into Victor, who was having lunch by himself. “Well, I’ll be damned. Glad to hear it,” Victor shrugged after Kyle told him that he and Jack were getting along quite well at Jabot.

Summer kissed her granddad. Then, she and Kyle went off to their table. But Kyle couldn't let it go. He went back over to Victor's table and confronted the mustached mogul. Kyle said there was no way Victor would be content to hear that Kyle and Jack were getting along fine at Jabot. Kyle wanted to know what the obsession was that Victor had with his family and with Jack especially.

Away from Victor, Summer tried to give Kyle some perspective on Victor and the Abbotts. Kyle wondered why Victor cared so much that he was with Claire. Summer theorized that Victor wanted Kyle and Summer to reunite without betraying how she felt about the matter. It seemed as if Summer would be fine with getting back together with Kyle.

At Society, Holden told Audra that his flight back to Los Angeles was delayed. Audra was skeptical but Holden maintained that the weather truly did change his travel plans. The businesswoman said that their past is past, conceding that they could be friends. Holden said he respected Nate and Audra. Still, Holden claimed to be getting mixed messages from Audra. He wondered if they could be friends or not. She came clean about the text Holden got about Audra being there if he needed a friend. Audra explained that she did not send that message. Nate was the one who sent that text, she said. Audra suspected Nate did that to show he wasn’t jealous. She was not sure how she would have responded if Nate hadn’t taken her phone and done that.

Meanwhile, at Nate's apartment, Lily informed Devon and Nate that two artists she spoke with were close to signing with her and Devon. She offered them a few extra perks to sweeten the deal. Lily had even bigger news. She was putting together a national tour with another record company (Jump and Skip Records) to do a series of performances with some artists from both companies.

Damian interrupted Lily’s meeting with Devon and Nate. He apologized for interrupting, but Lily said they were wrapping up anyway. Damian appeared distressed. He was very concerned about his mom, Amy, who'd been fighting a tough battle with cancer. Damian wanted to know if she’d been admitted to the hospital. Damian said that his mother was going to start an experimental treatment. He suggested Nate check his phone. Amy and Dr. Kelly both tried to reach him, Nate discovered. Lily urged Damian not to get ahead of himself. She said she and Devon had been through losing parents (both Neil and Dru died). However, that didn't mean that there couldn't be a more happy outcome this time.

Nate confirmed that Amy was being prepped for an infusion at a hospital. A last-minute slot opened up. Damian wondered if he could get to his mom’s side in time at the hospital. Nate told his half-brother that that was a great idea. Maybe they could both go to Chicago when they released her, Nate suggested. Damian said the two men going to the Windy City was a great idea. Devon and Lily said they had things covered so the two men were free to go on their journey — together.

Nate called to cancel lunch with Audra. He gave her an update that he and Damian were off to Chicago. Holden wasn't exactly broken up by the fact that Damian wasn't going to be able to have lunch with Audra. "Looks like you are suddenly free after all," Holden said to Audra.

Later, Damian and Nate dropped by the Genoa City Athletic Club. Nate called Amy’s voicemail to let her know he was on his way to be with her and that Damian was coming with him. Nate suggested to Damian that there could be a happy ending in all this – despite Amy’s condition. “Have faith,” he told his half-brother.

Holden pointed out that Audra’s dance card for lunch was now open! They had a drink at Society. Audra told Holden that one drink was plenty for her. Holden recalled past times when she was more lively. "That Audra doesn't exist anymore," she maintained. Holden said he heard her but he just chose not to believe her. Devon and Lily witnessed Nate and Audra having a good time together.

Devon introduced himself to Holden. He said that he'd met Lily already but no, he hadn't met Devon yet. Lily, who is supportive of her cousin Nate, made a dig at Audra. In private, she asked Devon what was that all about. She wanted to know what those two were doing together. Devon shrugged it off, telling Lily that it wasn't that big of a deal. He said he did not want to become involved in Nate's relationship with Audra.

“This new scenario is coming into Nate’s life from all sides. What if it’s an ambush?” a suspicious Lily asked. She thought there was more to this story than Nate knew.
