The Young and the Restless has always kept the show's focus on romance. Recently, the program reminded viewers of that with some scenes between Kyle and Claire as the couple professed their love for one another at Society.
Love in the Afternoon

Kyle and Claire have all the elements of a great soap opera romance. For starters, let's talk about the chemistry between Kyle and Claire's respective portrayers, Michael Mealor and Hayley Erin.
He's a tall, good-looking, younger leading man. She is a beautiful, younger leading lady. They play off each other and together nicely with a charm that never appears forced.
The couple's story setup is classic Romeo and Juliet, soap opera style. Kyle is an Abbott heir, and Claire is the long-lost granddaughter of the great and powerful Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
Savvy Y&R viewers could have seen this pairing coming. We suspected way back in the day when Victoria, then Heather Tom, now Amelia Heinle, said she didn't even see her baby after she was born. It wasn't surprising that baby Eve (AKA Claire) came back and was reunited with her family.
Mealor and Erin not only have chemistry, but their characters have built-in conflict given the rivalry between Kyle's dad, Jack (Peter Bergman), and Claire's grandfather, Victor.
Recently, The Young and the Restless devoted an episode to Kyle and Claire declaring their love for one another. Sure, we get all the business storylines about power and business, but soaps are about romance — who wouldn't want to find love the way Kyle and Claire have? Wasn't it nice to see the duo being all lovey-dovey?
Of course, Victor doesn't want Kyle and Claire to be together. Fortunately, the rest of their relatives, however, are pretty much on board. We know that Victor has already enlisted Audra (Zuleyka Silver) to come between the young lovers. Each day, there's a new development or revelation to be explored. There's so much to look forward to as Kyle and Claire someday (maybe) make their way to the altar.
Will Audra and Kyle's rivalry go from the boardroom to the bedroom? What about Summer (Allison Lanier)? We get the impression that she still has feelings for her former husband.
All of these dynamics on The Young and the Restless are interesting because we care about Claire and Kyle's romance. If we didn't, it might not matter that Audra or Summer have their eyes on Kyle.
Kyle and Claire aren't the only duo with rooting value on The Young and the Restless

Billy (Jason Thompson) and Sally (Courtney Hope) have a solid relationship. They're perfectly suited for one another, as evidenced by their frank conversations about Phyllis and her role at Abbott Communications. We've rooted for each of them when they've been partnered with other players on The Young and the Restless, but Sally and Billy have a chemistry and maturity to them that's tough to beat!
The Young and the Restless has given viewers some of the most memorable love matches in daytime history. We've cheered for Snapper (William Grey Espy; David Hasselhoff) and Chris (Trish Stewart; Lynn Topping), Victor and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Lauren (Tracey Bregman) and Paul (Doug Davidson), Cricket (Lauralee Bell) and Danny (Michael Damian), Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case), Michael (Christian LeBlanc) and Lauren, Jack and Diane (Susan Walters), Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Lily (Christel Khalil), and, now, Kyle and Claire.
Here's to more love in the afternoon — and in Genoa City!
