On The Young and the Restless, the mystery of Aristotle Dumas’ identity just got a little clearer, but not for the reasons we had hoped.

Daniel Goddard won’t be on The Young and the Restless

For months now, viewers of The Young and the Restless have been riddled with the task of figuring out who is the person behind the facade of Aristotle Dumas.

From what little is known of him, Aristotle is a business tycoon, who enjoyed the literary classic, The Count of Monte Cristo. He comes and goes from the business world shadows, beating out Victor Newman on acquisitions sometimes, and owning companies that he has Damian (Jermaine Rivers) run on his behalf.

But who is the real Aristotle? Well, we know who it’s not: Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard). Since last year, we have been hoping for a return of Lily’s ex-husband. The Count of Genoa City possibility seemed to fit the bill on every level. When we realized even Billy was in contact with Aristotle, our hopes were overcome by a possible theory being accurate.

However, Daniel Goddard set the record straight today. After months of teasing fans of big news coming, he posted a video this morning of him exiting a building. Once outside, he showed the General Hospital sign behind him and put his finger to his lips to say “Shhh.” But the secret is no more: Goddard has indeed joined the cast of General Hospital.

So who is Aristotle Dumas, then?

If Cane Ashby isn’t coming, what does that mean for Aristotle? Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John), you’re up. At the moment, it seems most likely that Tucker is the one behind the name. The story fits — like The Count of Monte Cristo, Tucker was wrongfully accused of hurting Ashley (Eileen Davidson), although her attacker actually turned out to be Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins). Ironically, since his supposed death last year, Martin is in the forefront of storylines at the moment. Refreshing our minds about Tucker and all that happened before he left town again might not be a coincidence.

Also, Audra (Zuleyka Silver) has branched out of her discomfort zone in her relationship with Nate (Sean Dominic) to get back into business with Victor to conspire against Kyle. Is that also convenient timing?

With Victor plotting against the Abbotts after ousting Lily and Billy from Chancellor Industries, Tucker could be making a comeback after all to ensure his nemesis isn’t successful in his revenge tactics.
