The Young and the Restless is certainly one to throw us as fans storyline curveballs, but nothing could have prepared us for what became of the Sharon and Phyllis “trapped” mystery.

After weeks of speculation, the March 12 episode of The Young and the Restless revealed to us who is behind the kidnapping, drugging, and trapping of Sharon and Phyllis in the abandoned psychiatric hospital — and it's none of the usual suspects. Drugging and kidnapping are the modus operandi of two very well-known Genoa City residents, or…supposed ex-residents. Ian Ward (Ray Wise), who we know survived his gunshot wound at the Newman ranch, and Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk), who succumbed to poisoning at the hands of Claire Newman (Hayley Erin). These two were the first people that sprung to mind when Phyllis and Sharon had gone missing, not for lack of reasons.

Yesterday's episode finished with Alan Laurent (Christopher Cousins) seated all by himself in Chancellor Park, with a curious expression on his face. A notification comes in on his phone, and we see a CCTV video of Sharon (Sharon Case) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) in their secure location on his screen. Oh boy, this sure does complicate things.

Just a few minutes prior, Alan and Traci (Beth Maitland) were having dinner with Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters) at the GCAC, and Alan popped the question to Traci. All that remains for fans to sleuth now is this: Are we looking at Alan or Martin? These two twins have been around for a while, and seasoned fans are already speculating. We have been led to believe that it was Martin (the evil twin, add in some maniacal laughter here for effect) who fell to his death, and Alan pronounced him dead. But all this time, could we have been wrong? Let's dive into some of the fans' comments when this was revealed in yesterday's recap.

Lynnkindred3 wrote, “Alan is truly the other twin. Now, we see where this storyline is headed. Good ol' Traci is rushed into marriage so that the evil twin can escape. But hopefully, he won't hurt Traci. Although the writers have become very weird just like the storylines that have been writing lately.”

Byagood2go69 said, “So all this time the good doctor has been the bad twin? Poor Traci, not a very nice storyline and Sharon and Phyllis locked in this room is nerve-racking.”

Much-appreciated Y&R (and Soap Central) fan Petrina Shaydak added, “That ain't Alan, it's Martin. I've known since Paris. Pi**es me off the writers are doing this to Traci again!! Guess she's never gonna be happy?? I can't for the life of me, understand why, he would want to kidnap Sharon and Phyllis, maybe, he found out there past, and is in somehow, thinking, he wants to prove, he's the better Psychologist? Glad there working together to get out, but I like there adversarial relationship, want them to go back to that. Good for Nick he and Billy are better than the Genoa city police department.”

The next few episodes of The Young and the Restless are going to be a white-knuckle ride. Will Billy (Jason Thompson) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) be able to save Sharon and Phyllis, or was not telling Chance (Connor Floyd) that they know where Sharon and Phyllis are a big mistake? Alan/Martin could be approaching the end of his game, so the dynamic duo better hurry up! Surely, he will want to wrap things up before moving on with Traci (poor, poor Traci!).
