We cried for Traci when she realized she’d lost a chance at happiness with Alan – who turned out to be Martin. We shed additional tears when she informed Jack that she and Ashley were going to spend time in New York City.

All we can say is we look forward to the Abbott sisters returning to Genoa City, where they belong. Watching the Abbott clan be front and center was a real treat.

It’s hard to think of “winners” in the story of Traci’s heartbreak. However, the tale gave Susan Walters a chance to shine as Diane Jenkins Abbott, Jack’s wife. We saw Diane showing deep concern for her sister-in-law. Savvy Diane knew something was up, wanted to genuinely help, and felt a subtle sting when it became apparent that Traci wasn’t going to let her in.

Jack's motive for keeping Diane in the dark was genuine. But did it make sense? Even Diane pointed out that if she were in potential danger from "Alan" (Martin), didn't she have a right to know? Didn't not knowing this make her more vulnerable? What's great is that Diane and Jack talked about it. There are few to zero secrets in this marriage.

Traci’s gone off to New York with one sister (Ashley) she can count on. It’s nice to know she has one, a sister-in-law (Diane) in Genoa City.

How could Ashley and Traci leave though before Diane unveils the new Abbott mansion she's been redecorating? Diane's been working her tail off and she's also been supporting Traci. The reveal won't be complete until all the Abbotts see Diane's efforts. We can't wait to see the new house, too!

Friendship! That's the Perfect Friendship!

It was always bitch-see TV when Sharon (Sharon Case) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) would snipe at each other. Now that their relationship has taken on a new dimension, we still find their interactions pretty lively.

Sharon and Phyllis are now just chummy with one another. We can’t believe it, at times. And guess what? Neither can they! It’s almost as if each woman were testing the other to see which one is going to break first. We don't ever want that to happen. Well...maybe we do. No, their captivity has to mean something! Then again, we could see either woman saying that Martin shouldn't dictate their lives or how they behave -- even if it's a positive way. But it’s way too early for Phyllis or Sharon to break and return to their old rivalry. It is great fun watching them process compliments one will give the other and deciding whether or not there’s any hidden meaning to them.

Y&R gave viewers some much-needed closure when Traci met with new besties (well, maybe not quite "besties") Sharon and Phyllis to show her regret over the whole Martin/kidnapping ordeal. The two showed class by telling Traci that none of this was her fault. When Phyllis pressed for some in-depth answers, her pal Sharon gently suggested pulling back. On one hand, Phyllis has every right to want to know more about Martin. But Sharon is only thinking of Traci's broken heart. She's ready to move on. Questioning her isn't going to help her do that.

Why do we feel that Sharon and Phyllis are one bad day from undoing all the progress they've made? If and when this happens, it'll be epic!

Family Matters

Nick and Victoria are one of the most believable sibling relationships on soaps today. They interact with one another with honesty and candor. There's very little that they can't say to each other. Even if they were to disagree on a topic, the siblings respect each other. Nice.

Another relationship that's always nice to see play out is the one between Nick and Sharon. They did end up going off together to London to visit their son, Noah.

Speaking of the Newmans, can we also just say how great it is to see Abby Newman-Chancellor back on our screens and interacting with her father? Victor is humanized by his relationships with his beloved Nikki and the love he has for his children and grandchildren.

Abby and Devon have a terrific marriage, but Abby sees how attractive Damian is. Devon is very protective of the women in his life. He told Holden that there was no way that Lily and Damian were an item. Just then, we cut to Lily listening to Damian in a new way...she's keeping an open mind about Nate's half-brother. Where might all this be headed? We can't wait to see!

Of course, Victor wouldn't be Victor without his machinations. He's lured Audra back into his web of deceit with an offer she couldn't refuse. Audra gets her own company if she helps take down Kyle, the man Victor disapproves of when it comes to his granddaughter Claire. Audra didn't think twice about aligning herself with King Victor. He can give her what she wants. And Audra appears to have zero qualms about doing Victor's bidding. What's wrong with that? There's no love lost between Kyle and Audra. If his relationship with Claire is so strong, then there's nothing Audra can do to break them up.

Kyle may be in over his head. Sure, he hit a grand slam when he exposed Victor's mole at Jabot. But we sense there's a part of him that cares about Audra, too. Or maybe he'll find her too alluring to resist? Victor may be ruthless — but is he wrong? Time will tell if he's incorrect about Kyle.

Audra's trying to convince Nate that she can handle Victor. Is she trying to get Nate to see the light — or herself? We can see Audra being okay with getting into bed (figuratively) with Victor. But could Nate handle his love going down that path? Maybe not.

Audra may have some internal conflict over being Victor's partner, but her attitude is, if it works for her, then why not? Most relationships have some form of reciprocity. Victor may be conniving, but he has been known to be good to his employees, as Michael Baldwin will attest.

It's not wrong that Audra is going for what she wants. If she doesn't look out for herself, who will?

"A" is for Amy

Amy returning to Genoa City and informing Nate that she has cancer heightened the story of her wanting to unite Nate with his older half-brother, Damian. Later, Nate and Damian joined forces to visit Amy in Chicago, where she was receiving treatment. Sure, there are a lot of angles to this tale: what did Damian know about Nate and Lily before he came to town? Who is Aristotle Dumas? Should Lily believe Victor or Damian? But these all pale in comparison to Amy's health. Y&R is known for keeping veteran characters on the canvas. We'd like to see Amy go into remission and continue her role as Damian's mom and supportive maternal figure to other characters on the canvas. We're encouraged by seeing Amy doing a bit better. Still, she's not out of the woods yet.

Lily has come to regard Amy as someone she can begin to trust. Speaking of Lily, we're also watching her open her mind to options when it comes to Damian. Maybe...just maybe he's a good guy who's on the up and up.

Can we just say how great it was to see Diane and Michael spar at the Genoa City Athletic Club?

These two have a long history, and it was great fun watching Diane and Michael push each other. Her love for Jack and her family is fierce, while conversely, Michael's loyalty to Victor is understandable. If Michael had his way, Victor would end this feud with Jack. That has to count for something. While Jack and Victor will never be pals, we hope that Diane and Michael always will be.

Finally, we're more than ready for Aristotle Dumas to be revealed. Who is he? Does he exist? He's the most talked-about character on Y&R, and he's never even been seen!
