The Evil Un-Dead: The Young and the Restless Two Scoops for the week of January 27, 2025

What a week on The Young and the Restless when Chance was amazed at the Newmans’ incredible luck.

Time for The Young and the Restless viewing party

Chance had a stellar opportunity to shine this week as GCPD’s detective who only takes the cases of the people he’s closest to. This time, it was two crazed villains that had teamed up to take down the Newmans, and ended up en route to the morgue.

When we last saw Aunt Jordan, she’d guzzled down a cup of tea filled with presumably crushed sleeping pills and then drifted off to a cozy nap on the tack house couch after promising Claire she’d haunt her thoughts forevah.

Victor told Nick later that his security team was tasked with getting her body to the morgue, so obviously, that happened as planned. Nothing to see here, folks, it’s all under control. The team was on it, are you feeling secure? Well, don’t be.

Just when Victor couldn’t believe the audacity of his wife, daughter, and granddaughter of ‘going rogue’ and plotting the demise of one-half of the evil duo out to get them, Victor sent them to bed without dinner and then didn’t get anyone’s permission to do the same thing.

Michael Baldwin steps up

Michael went from personal lawyer to henchmen when he showed up at the motel. Wait, let’s hold that thought for a second and discuss the motel room. Chance and Nick had illegally searched Ian’s room. Yes, Chance got a search warrant, but no, it didn’t say he could bring a civilian related to the case to help find evidence that would then result in being thrown out of court.

But I digress. So Chance had searched Ian’s room, determined there was a sidekick (female, because lipstick), and he also knew that Sharon was missing and most likely at the hands of Ian and said sidekick. And now Tessa is missing, too. And Aria.

And yet, Chance wanted to go look at the abandoned truck on the side of the road, even though officers had already investigated it, and he didn’t bother to tell anyone to watch the room for Ian’s return? Golf claps for Chance.

Michael Baldwin steps up, like actually

Okay, so Michael goes to the motel room and reminds us of that side of him we haven’t seen in a while (sans fighting with Phyllis), and Ian, who brought home a rose for his love, is in no mood for a visit to the ranch.

But Mortenson shows Ian his gun and maybe he meant it as a warning but it turned out to be more of a dare. They take him back to the ranch so that Nick could yell at him some more and demand answers, which went as well as the last time, and of course Ian denied everything.

But everything took a turn, including Michael’s bravado, when Ian reached into Mortenson’s jacket and snatched his gun. Moments later, he was knocked out on the floor, and everyone realized they were in pretty deep with the gun pointed at them.

I’m not sure why Nikki, Claire, or Victoria didn’t wonder why Ian was calling up the stairs to come down and join the party. He didn’t even know Claire and Victoria were there. Maybe they were half-asleep or in shock from Jordan’s dramatic passing out, but instead of calling the cops, they just did as they were told.

When Victor was ordered to call Adam and Abby as well, I thought for sure that he’d call Chance. But nope, he actually called Adam, who came right over from the other main house, which I guess we need a new word for. But he did say that he didn’t actually call Abby, but who did he call then? Why fake it if he could have actually called 911 or something helpful? Even the security team would have been better than nothing…maybe.

But then all chaos broke out when Ian got riled up about being called names, and Claire poured salt in the wound that Jordan didn’t love him back. Every Newman in there showed their backbones, and Michael decided that Victor was a father figure to him and declared himself part of the family, refusing to leave when offered. Which, by the way, was another headscratcher. Was Ian actually going to let Michael just leave? Or did he figure by the time he could call for help they’d all be dead anyway?

Whatever that was about, Michael refused to go. It was a good look, especially since he’s been on the outs with Victor ever since he and Cole wouldn’t let Victor keep Jordan held captive in a cage in his basement. Impeccable timing, too. Victor already held a grudge, and if Michael had just let Victor do what he wanted a year ago, that night might not have happened. Michael redeemed himself in Victor’s eyes just before he would have cut him off forever.

Unlike Jordan, who took longer to die and did her own swan song going out, Ian said less and got speeches before making it out of the foyer.

But before that, Chance arrived. And once again, he’s not impressed. The guy who can’t take the word of anyone he knows well had a chip on his shoulder with his friends and former in-laws, but took the word of the paramedic who clearly doesn’t know how to take a pulse.

“He dead?” “Yep.” That was good enough for Chance who then sneered at his bff that everything amazingly always seemed to work out for the Newmans. Sure, if you want to call watching two people die in your homes back to back and your family patriarch still waiting for medical attention on the sofa while the paramedics tend to the dead villain first.

Ambulance joy rides

Two ambulances came, but only two paramedics from the same ambulance came inside. And now it feels like I’m just getting picky, but Ian, whose face was left exposed so the corpse could breathe, took a sudden breath and opened his eyes. Hang tight, buddy, you’re on your way to the morgue to be reunited with the love of your life, who is most likely re-alived, too. By the time Ian gets there, the sleeping pills will have worn off, they’ll cackle that no one knows how to murder these days, and ride off into the Sunset…Motel, where they’ll kiss and make up, and come up with a new plot.

In the other ambulance, Victor had enough of being second best to Ian getting a gurney and staunchly walked out instead. Once inside the ambulance, you might have expected Nikki and Victor to have an undying love (no pun intended) type of conversation, but nope, Nikki was yelling at him for taking a bullet for her.

Parting is such sweet sorrow

So the only dead person on The Young and the Restless (other than Heather, unfortunately) who stayed dead for sure was Cameron, and so his time in Sharon’s head came to an end. She gave him a fond farewell and they kissed lovingly before he went back wherever he came from.

What if Cameron had a twin brother, only he’s a good guy, and he comes to town and works with her on the foundations and stuff she made out of his brother’s company? Same actor, same sarcatic wit, less stalking murderous stuff, but we get Cameron back only he’s Chris or Campbell or something instead and has clean clothes. I vote yes.

Brotherly Love

Adam is suddenly worried about being alone. He has Chelsea moving in but that’s supposed to remain platonic, but will it? And wasn’t it a little odd that Chelsea was so quick to explain that to Nick? She doesn’t owe him an explanation of what she’s doing or with who, but she always does that when she sees him. He’s not Billy.

So since Nick doesn’t have a home, and who knows where Christian is, maybe Nick should move into Chelsea’s place, and then Christian can SORAS into a teenager and hang out with his cousins, but since he’s Adam’s kid, he’s a mini-me of him, and that would be a problem. Meanwhile, Nick and Adam can have yet another sibling rivalry over a girl type of storyline, with Adam wanting Chelsea but her just living with him and dating his brother. I’m starting to wonder if that’s our only option other than she just reunites with Adam already.

Meanwhile, Adam is worried for the first time ever that if Victor’s gone, he won’t have a family at all. Would they excommunicate him if their dad was forcing them to condsider Adam family? Valid question on Adam’s part but Nick told him that’s up to him. How he treats him and Victoria is how they’ll reciprocate. Could this be a turning point for Adam’s character?

Elsewhere in Genoa City

Billy steamed things up with Sally, but he’s also figured out what he wants to do with a career, so enter Phyllis to run constant interference in that relationship. And while I liked Phyllis and Billy together, and still do, I also want Sally to just be happy with someone normal. Being involved in a three-way non-tie with Billy and Phyllis is not it. Sally or Phyllis need someone new. Maybe Damian?

Speaking of Damian, the plot thickens on him. He’s in town next week; he’ll deal with his mommy issues and surprise, Audra has a past we don’t know about. Is it like how she happened to be with Noah in London pre-Genoa City? Will there be some link between her and Damian? Or is it just all of this family stuff she’s in the thick of digging up buried feelings of her homelife growing up?

I’m looking forward to Damian coming, and until I see Daniel Goddard show up on some other show, you will never convince me that Cane is not the Count of Monte Cristo, or the mystery investor/owner/partner of Damian's on The Young and the Restless. Prove me wrong, Mr. Goddard, I dare ya.

Until then, look behind every corner and see if Jordan and Ian are hidden in plain view. It’s only a matter of time before they (or at least Ian) reappear, very much resurrected.
