Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:
What Happened on The Young and the Restless

On The Young and the Restless today, it took all of seconds after Summer and Chance took a seat at Society for him to get her to admit her feelings for Kyle, not only to him but to herself. And not that it was any surprise to us (or Chance, for that matter), but it’s about time Summer admitted out loud that she does indeed have a problem with Kyle being with Claire — and that she’s not even over losing Kyle to begin with. Literally, no viewer is shocked by her statement, but explain to us again why these two can’t be a couple. Okay, yes, there was that time when Chance arrested Summer’s brother and charged him with murder, and yes, he wouldn’t listen to anyone who had clues or even consider looking at any other suspect. But that was so 2024. She’s over that now and was willing to give them another chance…or, in this case, Chance. Where is Summer headed this year…is she going to be a mini-me of Phyllis? Or is she going to grow up? How did she mature last year when she was with Chance, and then digress afterward into Petty Betty with her knickers in a knot about her ex moving on (post-Audra)? Chance and Summer clicked, even if we didn’t want them to. There was something real about them that worked, and together, they were just better people. Summer learned how to let go of all of her anger, and (we thought) detach from that toxic relationship she had with Kyle and want more for herself. Meanwhile, we finally felt like we were getting to know Chance. Not only does it feel like a missed opportunity, but it’s also just confusing. If Summer’s not going to be the confident woman she grew into being last year when she was with Chance, then let’s not go halfway with it. Bring on the Phyllis 2.0 version, and let’s see what Claire’s got in her to fight back. But just…not…over Kyle.
