Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:
What Happened on The Young and the Restless

On The Young and the Restless, Billy fired Phyllis. Am I in Genoa City? I’m finally feeling like one of the other people in that town who isn’t on TeamBilly. Not that I thought he was perfect, but I thought underneath it all, Billy had a good heart. But today, his heart was cold as ice — and it’s not the first time he’s been like that with Phyllis lately. His flimsy excuse that she cares about Daniel is ridiculous and it’s almost like he’s been setting her up for failure. If she doesn’t bring up Daniel, he does, and then accuses her of being obsessed about the topic. She was eating breakfast alone and minding her own business, and he accused her of ambushing him when he came to where she lives. Of course, Phyllis wants to help her son; she has for a year, and he knows it. But all he had to do was tell her not to mention Daniel’s name in front of him; telling Phyllis not to care about her kids is an impossible ask, and he knows it. Billy goes to Phyllis when he’s desperate and in over his head, sells her on joining him when no one else wants anything to do with him, and when he’s feeling empowered, he dumps her. Hard. And the last two times, she cried and begged him that it was her only lifeline, but Billy didn’t care; he did it anyway. He told Phyllis today she’s too distracted to be of use to him, but he’s the one who left for Paris when he was supposed to be focused on launching a company, has been secretly making deals with Aristotle, and doesn’t even have a plan B for anything that he’s doing. Now he wants Sally at his side, and is ditching Phyllis to make that happen. He knows Phyllis better than anyone; there is nothing new here. And yes, she has been through hell, but that didn’t stop him from hiring and firing her twice in the past few months when she was going through it all and just needed a true friend. For the guy who had a mental health podcast, you’d think he’d be just a little lighter on the tough love.
