Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What Happened on The Young and the Restless

On The Young and the Restless, Billy may have been using some tough love with Phyllis, or maybe it stems from some sort of insecurity as he leaps into a new multi-million dollar venture with no plan B, but it’s really hard to tell which. When no one in Genoa City would give Billy an inch, Phyllis was all in. When even Jack had to turn his back on Billy, Phyllis was even more in. Billy would tell Phyllis how much they were alike and how he knew how it felt not to have support, and he has told her how great she is at business and needs her to succeed. But every time Phyllis tells Billy that she needs him, he turns her away. There was that one time that Sally and Billy were having hot chocolate at Crimson Lights, and Phyllis begged him to be her friend, but he turned her down, then eventually tracked her down at Society, but that was a big hurt until he showed up. Sally and Billy denied Phyllis’ claim that Sally was in Billy’s ear now about Abbott Communications and Phyllis’ participation in it, but she was right. Sally is telling Billy to get rid of Phyllis for the very same reason people have been dismissing Billy for years. Billy fired Phyllis from Chancellor right after Heather died, when she needed her job the most. Phyllis was trying to cling to something to keep her head above water, something she could focus on so that she didn’t feel like she was drowning. And in a heartbreaking scene, Billy fired her anyway. It feels like Billy’s about to do it again, and this time, Phyllis doesn’t seem like she could take it.
