This week on The Young and the Restless, Sharon has souvenirs, Kyle wins the scavenger hunt, and Chance applies for a job.

The mysteries of the murder

Sharon had some explaining to do when she got home. Nick, Mariah, and Faith seemed somewhat satisfied with her responses, and life carried on. But then Cameron came back and filled in some blanks. It turns out that as much as Sharon seems completely out of it, she had enough sense to take and modify Heather’s phone.

Apparently, Sharon was lucid enough to use Heather’s dead body to unlock the phone using facial recognition, change the password for future access, and download an app that blocked tracking. That was pretty impressive.

What had us scratching our heads was why the ringer was still on. Even Mariah wondered if Sharon had changed her ringtone while she was gone.

After Sharon was missing and came back with a semi-lame excuse, it wouldn’t be too out of line for Nick or Mariah to peek through the window of her car. So, why, after dumping Heather’s carefully wrapped body over a bridge with her headlights shining on her, didn’t Sharon get rid of the bag of evidence?

It’s sitting in plain sight at the back of her vehicle. A bag of bloody towels and broken glass would be hard to explain.

Not all heroes wear capes

Chance asked to rejoin the GCPD just so he could investigate Heather’s death. Before he’d been hired, he called and asked a buddy at the station what he knew about the case.

Chance then told Phyllis that Daniel was about to get a lot more confused and feel a lot more pain. That’s something every horrified mother wants to hear. Chance continued that autopsies are graphic and hard to deal with. Daniel had only known about Heather even being gone for a couple of hours at best, so obviously, that was something he needed to be told immediately.

Chance rushed over with only enough information to upset Daniel but not enough to answer his questions. Daniel kept saying he didn’t know how to process what Chance was saying. Chance told him he’d try to do it again and went back to the station for more crumbs of info.

Grieving makes her hungry

Phyllis was at Crimson Lights when Daniel told her and Summer that Heather hadn’t come home. Daniel was sick with worry that Heather had left him permanently. Phyllis offered to buy him breakfast and said she’d meet him at the Athletic Club.

Phyllis was with Daniel at the Athletic Club when he got the call that Heather’s body was fished out of the river and her fingerprints were IDed. Daniel left to see for himself, and Phyllis headed back to Crimson Lights to see Nick.

After briefly going to Daniel and Lucy’s, Phyllis went back to the Athletic Club restaurant. Up until then, no one told Summer and Chance what was going on, so Phyllis told them in person. Then she sat at the bar for a bit.

When no one else came in, Phyllis looked for people she knew at Society. She found Billy and Sally at the bar, asked Sally to leave, and then stayed in the restaurant to grieve.

Misery loves company

Adam bumped into Sally and tried to convince her they belonged together but got rejected. So he went to find Chelsea and told her there was no hope for reconciliation for her and Billy.

When Adam saw Chelsea talking to Billy, he demanded to know what was going on. But he also said that Billy did the same thing at Society, and that’s why he punched him.

I was glad that Sally stood her ground with Adam and a little surprised that Billy wanted to give in to Chelsea. But what I do not want to see is Sally and Billy. That’s just me, and I have no real reason for it other than they just don’t seem suited for each other. Maybe I’m wrong, and maybe it’s a moot point, but it seems like they’re headed in that direction.

Victor’s challenge

When Victor told Audra and Kyle to prove to him who was the better choice as sole CEO of Glissade, I thought it would take longer for one of them to come up with a plan.

Kyle lucked out and found his mom’s laptop without a screen saver, and Audra didn’t stand a chance. Maybe Audra probably has not had a lot of examples of long-term relationships in her life, but her wide-eyed wonder at a couple bickering wasn’t her best look. The way she tried to pitch that gossip like it was insider trading to Victor might have put her on the chopping block even without Kyle’s bombshell.

Kudos to Kyle for thinking fast on his feet, though. Unfortunately for us, he gave Victor an ultimatum and won, so now we’ll have to see Kyle’s smug smirk and hear him gloating for a while.

But I couldn’t help but wonder if Diane left that computer open as bait.

As for Audra, she should stop and think. When she got Victor to be the investor and took the company from Tucker, she needed the board to vote her in as CEO. How is Victor just deciding that kind of stuff now?

Elsewhere in Genoa City

Although her wandering was odd, when Phyllis told Billy she needed him to be her friend, she tugged at my heartstrings. And that scene when Daniel went to the morgue…awful. The whole situation for the Romalottis was heartwrenching, and they had me well up a few times.

As for Sharon’s behavior this week, Sharon Case’s portrayal is nothing short of amazing. When Phyllis was telling her off for talking to Daniel, Sharon’s expression was spot on. And the way Joshua Morrow looked at Sharon as she chatted with Mariah at Crimson Lights, we could hear what he was thinking. But Sharon might not be the only one putting on an act.

Even though reporting it wasn’t enough to win a CEO position at Glissade, seeing Jack and Diane’s fighting was something. Has Diane snapped, and if so, when? She and Jack were a team, but then, all of a sudden, they weren’t, and she was angry at everyone. Is it an act to look like things are shaky at Jabot? Or is Diane acting the way that Kyle accused her of all along?

Until next week!

This Sharon mental health story is dragging on to long. Did she or did she not kill Heather and if so she needs to be put away for a long time either in a mental facility or prison.

This will be a long one. First, I also don't want a Sally and Billy pairing, but I agree that it seems they are headed there. I can only hope that they sleep together once and decide they're better off as friends, or if they do get together, it won't last long. Now on to Sharon. I know cops on soap operas aren't usually the brightest, but if the GCPD and Chance actually buy that Daniel had something to do with Heather's death after Sharon plants the evidence, they have hit a new low. Obviously if they find evidence at Daniel's place it would look bad, and likely lead to forensics checking out the place and finding the cleaned up blood trail. However, there are these aspects to consider: 1. Daniel had job meetings that day, followed by dinner with Summer and Phyllis which a bunch of witnesses at Society (including Nick, Mariah and Tessa), then ice cream with Lucy at the Athletic Club. 2. Daniel and Lucy left Heather a message, which should show up as being listened to since Sharon did, and then Sharon sent that text "from Heather" claiming she needed to leave for a bit. I'm not sure how long it took for Sharon to clean up, dump the body, talk with Nick and Faith, and then send that text, but it should still be possible for the GCPD to find out that the text could have occurred after the time of death or at least after the body was in the water. 3. Sharon sends a text from Heather's phone again, stating that she is a random person who found the phone and wants to meet to return it, but fails to meet at the designated point. Maybe Sharon thinks that once she plants the phone at Daniel's place they will assume Daniel sent it. However, she doesn't account for the fact that Lucy was with Daniel when he sent his reply, and when the person sent their reply in turn, so Lucy knows Daniel could not have sent the reply from Heather's phone without her seeing. Then Daniel runs into Chance at the meet point, and knowing that he's back on the force, shows him the text and lets them know that the person is late, possibly not even coming. 4. The cops will always have to consider motive, and I'm assuming if Sharon is thinking of a possible motive for Daniel, it would be that he and Heather were disagreeing as to whether or not they should leave Genoa City, which is a weak motive. However, cops (at least good ones), have to consider other suspects and their motives. Sharon not only has the biggest motive, considering multiple people have seen her public outbursts towards Daniel, Lucy and Heather, but there's also the 24 or more hours that Sharon disappeared without telling anyone, lied about where she was, and then eventually admitted she wasn't there but wouldn't tell them where she was. Even if Sharon's family wanted to protect her, the police could still find the evidence that she checked into her hotel online at that place of her work meeting but never showed, confirm with the person she was supposed to meet that it never happened, and see the unanswered calls, messages and texts sent from her family. They would also maybe eventually go to her doctor, and while her doctor may not reveal any details of her sessions without a warrant, I don't think that Nick calling him and letting him know about his and the family's concerns about Sharon would fall under the doctor patient confidentiality because Nick is not his patient. Unfortunately, I find that when it comes to legal issues and some medical issues on soap operas, the writers don't always follow logic, but rather what they feel would provide the most drama.

@nycloeYour analysis makes perfect sense! Given all of Daniel's solid and easy-to-confirm alibis, any police force worth their salt, would see the evidence as an obvious plant. Of course... this is GCPD we're talking about. (LOL) Plus Y&R writers never employ a lot of logic or realism into their stories. (see: 70 year old Aunt Jordan overpowering Nick!)

I'm still hoping this has all been an elaborate dream and Sharon gets woken up by Nick in that motel room she was in. I mean - they did a whole season on Dallas that turned out to be a dream! lol

@frfilms1Me too. The whole thing makes no sense. If Sharon tossed that towel in the river how could she still have it to plant at Daniel's. If this isn't a dream as it appears hope Chance is smart enough to realize when he finds that bloody towel at Daniel's place he realizes it was a plant. However if Sharon really did kill Heather she needs to pay the consequences even if if means either prison time or a long time in a mental institution. I originally thought that Sharon at "phantom'" Cameron urging wanted to murder Daniel. not implicate him in her crime.

This idea Sharon will plant the bloody towel, and rope and blanket at Daniel's won't work, because she sent a message from Heather's phone, and he was with Lucy, meaning Daniel has an alibi during the time of her death.

When Diane left her computer open like that, I thought she was stupid. Now, I'm starting to think that maybe she did that on purpose and Kyle took the bait. Speaking of Kyle, he would do well to enjoy his little victory dance while he can, because once Victor no longer has any use for him, Kyle will be out of Glissade so fast, he won't know what freaking hit him. It would serve his smug, arrogant, entitled, bratty butt right, too!

@ShellyI agree, Diane is much smarter than Kyle is giving her credit for.

@ShellyYes! Everyone seems to forget that Diane's past is that of a smart (and devious!) woman. She knows Kyle hasn't moved out yet, no matter how much he says he will. (lol) She would never leave her work laptop open like that. Hell - i never leave my laptop open either, and i'm a complete knucklehead. haha

What am I missing? I know theGenoa City PD are dumb as rocks but how could they consider Heathers death to be an accident when she was wraped in a blanket and tied with rope?

Ryan Katz · 186 d
@Robi believe Sharon dumped the body by untieing the blanket and unwrapping the body and dumping it without the blanket

@Ryan KatzI distinctly recall Sharon dumping the wrapped body into the water and seeing it hit the water while still wrapped and tied in the blanket
