The Young and the Restless will soon begin its 52nd season—on Thursday, October 3, 2024—and it is in its 37th year as Daytime’s #1 drama. The show will also be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Sharon Case being in Genoa City.

The Young and the Restless wasn’t Case’s first soap opera. In 1989, she appeared on General Hospital as Dawn Winthrop and later played Debbie Simon on As the World Turns before moving to Genoa City. She also starred in Valley of the Dolls as Anne Welles.

“All these years, I watched so many actors have these big anniversaries, and I thought, ‘Wow, that’s so cool. What a great milestone,’” Case told Woman’s World. Sharon noted that now that it is her turn to celebrate her anniversary on The Young and the Restless, it doesn’t feel like it’s been 30 years.

“I’m very lucky, and it’s been lovely how everybody’s been acknowledging it so nicely.” - Sharon Case on her 30th anniversary of being on Y&R, as told to Woman’s World

While filming an upcoming episode, Case said the scenes were emotional, and she was focused on performing. In the interview, she shared, “Then the lights came up, I looked up… and there’s 50 people on stage applauding and giving me beautiful roses! I was still sort of in my reverie from doing the scenes, so it was an emotional roller coaster, but it was really wonderful.”

To celebrate both Sharon Case and Sharon Newman, The Young and the Restless will incorporate the character’s current storyline into a special episode commemorating Sharon’s time in Genoa City.

The episode will include flashbacks, including Sharon’s relationship with Y&R co-star Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman). Sharon and Nick have been on and off since they were high school sweethearts. Case shared with Woman’s World, “It’s a nice walk down memory lane, and it’s wonderful to see how far we’ve come. It makes it more real to me that it has been 30 years.”

The episode celebrating Sharon is scheduled to air on September 24, 2024. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
