Jack reveals startling news to Traci about his trip

Alone in a dimly lit room, Billy extemporaneously shared his thoughts, speaking into a microphone and marking his first podcast delivered to listeners near and far. Billy contemplated elusive desires, explaining that desperately holding onto things most desired drained them of their joy, yielding frustration from the lack of control. Billy offered advice to listeners who sought ways to deal with circumstances beyond their control. Billy advised his audience to meditate by closing their eyes, calming their minds, and opening themselves up to possibilities while envisioning the arrival of things most desired. Billy cautioned that meditation was new to him. Billy admitted that he was unsure about his new adventure, his sister's brainchild, though he planned to enjoy the ride.

Billy openly touched on the pain he'd endured after the untimely death of his sweet daughter. Billy described his child's death as a shocking loss that had led him down a path into darkness. Billy told listeners that the key to holding his memories dear had been to love his daughter, honor her, and celebrate her without being driven by pain, grief, and anger. Billy expressed hope that his story of love and loss might be uplifting and empowering.

Billy soberly acknowledged that the time he'd had with his daughter had been way too short. Billy confessed that his anger, directed at the person responsible, had prevented him from dealing with his loss and his own guilt. Billy recalled having lashed out in troubling ways until, at one point, his mind had splintered. Sounding hopeful, Billy credited the support of a friend and ongoing therapy for helping him put himself back together. Billy was honest about often backsliding, though he celebrated pure and simple love for having saved him.

Jill and Devon connected with each other via video chat. Jill got down to business and asked Devon why he was throwing away the chance of lifetime. Devon mentioned the proposal to merge Chancellor and Hamilton-Winters. Jill admitted she'd been floored when Lily had first pitched the idea, though she envisioned that the merger would make the combined companies unstoppable. Devon remained wary of complications, but Jill bolstered her argument by suggesting he consider how Katherine or Neil might embrace the situation.

Devon explained that Katherine and Neil would weigh everything very carefully. Jill was certain that Katherine would love having Devon involved in running Chancellor. Devon admitted that Neil would approve of him and Lily working together, because Hamilton-Winters had always been a family enterprise. Jill mentioned that because Devon was a third parent to her great-grandson, the connection made them all family.

Lily stopped by Devon's, and he told her about his conversation with Jill. Lily assured Devon she hadn't put Jill up to talking to him about the proposed merger. Devon admitted he was in love with the idea of the merger paying homage to their family, though he would have to base his consideration on a detailed proposal. Lily said she had a proposal prepared for his review. Devon expressed fear about the possibility of family members turning on each other.

Lily told Devon she trusted him more than anyone. Lily reminded Devon that they'd dealt with family issues worse than corporate friction. Lily assured Devon that nothing could ever sever their bond. Lily offered to step down as CEO should issues arise. Devon promised to do the same, adding that he was ready to take the shot and seal a deal that would make their dad and Katherine proud.

Lily went home and greeted Billy. Lily was eager to share her big news, explaining that with help from Jill, she'd had a breakthrough with Devon about the merger. Lily joyfully announced that the merger might actually happen. Lily said she'd assured Devon that business would never come between them. Lily told Billy that her relationship with Devon was unbreakable.

Billy reported that he'd taken Traci's advice to try meditation, which had helped him calm his mind and deal openly with his emotions. Billy told Lily he'd released his first podcast and found it to be cathartic. Billy revealed that Lily had factored in as a recurring theme because she'd saved his life. Billy and Lily shared intimate moments while celebrating their remarkable new endeavors.

Jack and Phyllis flew home from Los Angeles. Jack dropped off Phyllis, along with her luggage, at the Grand Phoenix. Phyllis offered to dive more deeply into her resources to find out who had been sending Jack text messages about Allie, the granddaughter he'd just met. Jack, weary and still in shock, said he couldn't think about being involved. Phyllis said she understood, realizing that Jack had a lot to process after learning he had a granddaughter. Jack thanked Phyllis for her companionship and support. Jack assured Phyllis he hadn't given up on future opportunities to get to know Allie better.

After Jack left the Grand Phoenix, Amanda touched base with Phyllis at the bar. Phyllis told Amanda it had felt good to extend emotional support to Jack, as he had done for her numerous times. Amanda asked Phyllis if the supportive feelings might have turned romantic. Phyllis shook her head and replied that it hadn't at all, explaining that Jack had been devastated by the loss of his son. Amanda apologized and agreed to drop the idea of romance between Jack and Phyllis, though she acknowledged that their relationship had reached a new level. Phyllis agreed that it had, though she didn't elaborate.

Amanda returned home and greeted Devon with a kiss. Devon announced that he and Lily would move forward with the merger. Amanda said she was happy for Devon, though she hoped Lily hadn't pushed Devon into it. Devon said he'd consulted with others and had made the decision on his own. Amanda congratulated Devon. As the chair of Chancellor's legal department, Amanda acknowledged it would be a complicated, though groundbreaking, merger. Devon declared that his life was coming together well, mostly because of Amanda, Dominic, and the merger. Devon acknowledged that two families' legacies would never be the same again.

Allie entered her late father's residence in Los Angeles. The vacant home was sparsely furnished with a sofa, a chair, and a table, each piece shrouded in drop cloths while painters readied the property for sale. Allie steadied herself by reaching out to touch her father's sofa. Allie said aloud to herself, "Hey, Dad. I still can't believe that you're really gone, Dad." Sobbing pitifully, Allie cried, "I miss you so much. Why did this happen? What am I going to do without you?"

Allie pleaded with her dad to give her a sign, explaining that she was confused and no longer had him to talk to or turn to when things got rough. Allie cried that she felt alone because her mother was "a million miles away" and too busy. Allie expressed concern that reaching out to Jack Abbott might disgrace her father's memory, recalling that he'd cut his father out of his life.

Jack arrived home and toted his luggage inside. Jack set the box containing Keemo's keepsakes on a table in front of a sofa. After pouring himself a drink, Jack gazed at a photo of Allie. After Jack's phone chimed, he read a text message from the mysterious sender. It read, "You left too soon. You should have given her more time." Jack replied, writing, "Please tell me who you are." Jack quickly pocketed his phone when Traci arrived downstairs.

Traci listened while Jack read aloud from the letters Keemo had penned to his father but never mailed. Jack became emotional when he related that though Keemo had forgiven him and expressed enduring love between father and son, he had not been ready to reach out. Traci broke down in tears and comforted her brother. Jack told Traci he'd relied on Phyllis' companionship as he'd navigated an emotional roller coaster. Jack told Traci he regretted having failed to reach out to Keemo. Traci reminded Jack that a relationship was a two-way street.

Jack told Traci that Keemo had found love, gotten married, and had a child. Traci was elated to learn that her brother had a granddaughter. Jack told Traci that he'd just met Allie, a bright, beautiful young graduate student. Traci admired Allie's photo and asked Jack if the young woman had been sending the text messages. Jack explained that Allie had had no idea who he was because Keemo had never mentioned him. Jack told Traci it would take time for Allie to prepare herself before meeting her family, explaining that his sudden appearance had been a shock.

Jack, doubtful a lasting connection with Allie could ever happen, told Traci that Allie had her own life and was mourning the loss of her father. Jack insisted Allie would know she had an open invitation from the Abbott family. Traci urged caution as Jack proceeded. Jack told Traci that Allie, having lost family, needed family. Traci learned that after Keemo and his wife had divorced, Allie's relationship with her mother had become rocky. Traci embraced her brother and assured him that he wouldn't be alone as he worked through the next steps. Jack told Traci he was determined not to lose touch with his granddaughter, as he had with his son.

After Jack left, Traci listened to Billy's podcast. Traci appeared sympathetic as she heard her brother admit he'd gone about his life the wrong way and had made mistakes. Traci appeared saddened as Billy told listeners he hoped his mistakes might serve as a warning to those at risk of falling down a rabbit hole like he had. Billy acknowledged that everyone's experience was different, so whatever helped one might not work for another. Billy concluded his message by stating that love, having helped him envision his future with fresh eyes, had been his saving grace. Traci nodded and smiled.

Jack took a drive to clear his head and ended up at the Grand Phoenix. Jack greeted Phyllis, explaining that he couldn't sleep. Phyllis said that she'd also been restless. Jack expressed gratitude to Phyllis for her support, kindness, and friendship. Jack received another text message and read it. Phyllis said, "Is that the texter? Hey, what does it say? Don't keep me in suspense." Jack appeared distracted and didn't immediately respond. Later, Jack handed his phone to Phyllis. Phyllis read the reply sent to Jack. It stated, "Don't lose hope. Let me see what I can do."

Back in Los Angeles, a grief-stricken and exhausted Allie curled up and fell asleep on the sofa in her late father's house. The shadowy figure of an unseen person approached and stood near Allie, who was unaware of the presence. Allie awoke with a start when the shadowy figure appeared to vanish as quickly as it had appeared. Allie sat up and peered around the dimly lit room. Shaking with fear, Allie said aloud, "Is someone there?"

The Newmans unite to prove Ashland's deception to Victoria

The Newmans unite to prove Ashland's deception to Victoria

Tuesday, March 22, 2022

At Newman Media, Victor informed Nick that the scans taken at Memorial after Ashland's heart attack had indicated no signs of cancer, and Nate had found no history of Ashland's chemotherapy appointments or prescriptions. Nick was livid that Ashland had lied to Victoria just to get his hands on Newman Enterprises, and he hissed that there was a "special place in hell" for someone like that. Victor shared that Ashland had refused to leave town, so it was up to them to show Victoria the evidence that she'd been betrayed. Nick prepared to call in reinforcements.

Nikki and Adam joined Victor and Nick. Nikki hoped the new evidence was enough to change Victoria's mind about Ashland, and Adam argued that there was no excuse for cancer-free x-rays or nonexistent chemo appointments. Nikki believed Ashland was trying to drive a wedge between Victoria and her family by claiming that Victor had made the whole thing up. Nick thought they had to form a consensus about how to handle things with Victoria, since she seemed to be resistant to the idea that Ashland was lying to her. He feared that they only had one move left, and it would take all of them to pull it off.

After the Newmans discussed the details of their plan, Adam complained that it was never going to work. Nikki was more concerned about whether Victoria would ever forgive them, and Victor considered their priority to be removing Ashland from Victoria's life. Nick insisted that they had to get Victoria alone and make her look at the evidence while there was still a chance she'd listen to logic. Adam expected that Victoria would take Ashland's word over theirs, and he grumbled that it was already too late, since Ashland had already signed the contract naming him co-CEO. Nick ranted that he only cared about his sister's future and well-being, and he lectured that it should be Adam's focus, too.

Nick speculated that if it had been Ashland's plan all along to merge his company with Newman Enterprises and run it single-handedly, Victoria might be an obstacle that Ashland would get rid of by any means necessary. Nick didn't want to believe Ashland was capable of it, but he warned that they couldn't take anything for granted because they didn't know how far Ashland was willing to go. Adam recounted that Ashland had left his best friend to die before stealing the real Ashland's identity. Victor vowed that Ashland wouldn't harm a hair on Victoria's head, and Nikki predicted that Victoria would really need them when it was all over. Adam confirmed that he was 100 percent in, and Nikki announced that she was ready. "Anything for my daughter," Nikki resolved.

After Nikki left, Adam proposed having a backup plan in case things didn't work out. Adam mentioned an idea of his that Victor had previously shot down, and he pushed to know whether the board had the power to nullify Ashland's contract -- and Victoria's. Victor advised that it would be difficult because of the merger, but Adam pointed out that it wasn't impossible. Victor adamantly refused to remove Victoria from her position, and Nick added that there was no basis for firing her. Adam filed Victoria's actions under incompetence, since, as CEO, she'd let the fox into the henhouse. Nick accused Adam of trying to make a power grab of his own.

Adam stressed that Victoria had made a colossal error, but it didn't mean he was trying to throw her off the throne to wear the crown. Nick referred to the history of Adam attempting to do just that, but Adam argued that he had a vested interest in the company, unlike Nick. Adam contended that someone had to be there to keep an eye on the ball. Victor ordered his sons to stop it and to take things one step at a time, reiterating that Victoria's protection and security were the priority. Lauren suddenly burst in and announced that she was the next problem on their agenda. She demanded to know what Victor knew about her husband.

Victor reported that he'd received a package from Michael the day before, but Lauren pointed out that it could have been sent days earlier. She revealed that she knew Victor had people searching for Michael, and she begged Victor to tell her everything. Victor admitted that he'd lost contact with Michael, and Lauren wailed that she'd known it in her heart. She was glad that she'd gone to Kevin, who'd filed a missing persons report.

Victor swore that he had his best people looking for Michael and promised that they would find him. Lauren scoffed at the idea that she could trust Victor, noting that he hadn't informed her when Michael's fact-finding mission had gone off the rails. Lauren groused that she hadn't even known Michael had gone to South America, and she supposed Nick and Adam knew more than she did. She pressed them for any information they thought she should have.

Nick empathized with how concerned Lauren was, but he was confident Victor would find Michael soon. Adam anticipated that Michael would return with a "hell of a story." Lauren pleaded with them to tell her what was going on, but Victor cited attorney-client privilege. Victor conceded that it should have been a routine trip, but it had turned into a dangerous situation. He pledged to remedy it.

Nick received a text message and announced that he and Adam had to take care the issue they'd discussed earlier. Victor said he would join them shortly, and Nick and Adam headed out. Lauren wondered if the issue had something to do with Michael. Victor maintained that he couldn't tell her what they were working on, but he gave his word that he was doing everything in his power to get Michael back safely.

At Newman Locke, Victoria entered her office and found Ashland there. He wished her a good morning, and she brusquely noted that he was there early. He voiced surprise that he'd beaten her there, since he'd expected to drive in together that day. She claimed that she'd had errands to run, and she asked if there was something he wanted to discuss. Ashland recalled that she'd been tossing and turning the night before, and Victoria commented that heavy was the head that wore the crown. He pointed out that she was no longer alone in it, since they were equal partners.

Victoria griped that she was furious with her father for what he'd set in motion, and she contemplated what would happen if word got out that Ashland had supposedly faked his cancer. Ashland asserted that he had no intention of letting that happen, and he knew exactly what to do to combat what Victor was trying to do. Ashland suggested that he and Victoria get away for a while to the palazzo in Tuscany. He envisioned stopping in Milan for a couple of weeks to hang out with Harrison and then enjoying the peace and serenity at the palazzo while getting work done. He continued that it would give him a chance to investigate the slanderous accusations in a distraction-free zone and put a stop to the false information before it got out of control.

Victoria didn't want people to think she and Ashland had gone into hiding or were running away. Ashland wondered if Victor had planted more doubt in her mind than she was willing to admit. Ashland acknowledged how hard it was for Victoria to go against her father, but she retorted that her dad didn't make decisions for her. Ashland sensed that she still had doubts about him, and he seemed troubled by the idea that she thought he'd deceive her in the way Victor was claiming. Victoria cautioned that Ashland knew how she'd react if she learned he'd lied to her again. He recognized that their marriage would never survive.

Victoria warned that it would be foolish and desperate for Ashland to think he could keep her in the dark about something like that and expect them to be able to move past it. Ashland said he took great pride in being neither of those things. Victoria believed he knew she had great capacity for forgiveness, but she asserted that there were some lines that couldn't be crossed. Ashland had the feeling she expected him to break down and make a confession. She replied that if there was a confession that needed to be made, it was the time to make it.

Ashland admitted that there was something earth-shattering he needed to confess, and Victoria assured him that she was ready to listen. He pledged his love and cupped her face in his hands. He professed that he loved her more than he'd ever loved anything in his entire life, and she was a gift he didn't deserve. He saw in her eyes that she was torn between her love for him and her fidelity to her family, and he hated that they'd been forced to have that conversation. She apologized, but he insisted that she had nothing to be sorry for. He sympathized that her family was breathing down her neck, trying to push the idea of an insane conspiracy theory on her.

Ashland pleaded with Victoria to shut out the noise by going away with him, but she lectured that changing their location wouldn't make the problems disappear. Ashland countered that dealing with her family's constant interference wasn't the way to function as a couple or run a company, and they needed time to focus. He couldn't think of a better place to do it than where he'd pledged his love and life to her and where she'd said love transcended all. Victoria softly replied that she remembered it well, but she balked at leaving right away.

There was a knock at the door, and Nikki entered and whimpered that she was glad Victoria was there. Nikki cried that Victoria was the only one who would understand, and she asked if they could go someplace to be alone. Victoria asserted that she and Ashland were partners, so Nikki could say whatever she had to say to both of them. Nikki haughtily stated that Victoria was mistaken if she thought Nikki shared everything with Victor, and she demanded privacy with her daughter. Ashland offered to stick around if Victoria preferred that he stay. Nikki huffed that she was done being polite, and she was no longer asking but telling Ashland to leave the office.

Ashland complained that Nikki was showing no respect, and it wasn't hard for him to imagine why she wanted him to leave. Nikki ranted that not everything was about him. Nikki claimed that she and Victor had had a terrible fight, and she didn't know what to do because they'd both said things they couldn't take back. Nikki wailed that she didn't have anywhere else to turn, and Victoria promised they'd figure it out. Victoria requested to speak with her mother alone to avoid stressing Nikki out even more.

Ashland cooed that one of the things he loved about Victoria was her instinct to help, and he told Nikki that she was fortunate to have such a loving, caring daughter. Nikki thanked him, and Ashland told Victoria that later, they'd pick up where they'd left off. Ashland exited, and Victoria fetched Nikki a glass of water. Victoria prompted her mother to tell her more about the argument, and she found it hard to believe the fight hadn't been about Ashland. Nikki recognized that everyone had been tense, and Victoria spat that it was because of the accusations Victor had made toward her husband. Victoria hoped Nikki had told Victor he had crossed a line and needed to stop.

Nikki proclaimed that there was no doubt in her mind that Victor had been right to investigate his suspicions, and Victoria realized that Nikki had lied about having a fight with Victor. Nikki defended that she'd had to get Ashland out of the room to speak freely. Victoria yelled that there was nothing her mother could say that she hadn't already heard. Nikki firmly stated that Ashland had been using Victoria since the day he'd claimed he'd been sick. Victoria demanded to know how far her parents were willing to go; just then, Victor and Nick appeared in the doorway. "As far as is necessary to show you exactly what Ashland has done," Victor declared. "And we're not leaving until you've seen all the evidence," Nick added.

At Crimson Lights, Elena suggested that she and Nate split a pastry, but he muttered that he wasn't hungry. She recognized that he was still conflicted about what was going on with Ashland. Nate bemoaned that he'd never violated someone's medical privacy before, but he'd felt like he'd had no other choice. Elena knew he wouldn't have done it without good reason, and she wondered if he wished he hadn't given the evidence of Ashland's deception to Victor. Nate swore that he wouldn't do things differently if he could do them over again, but he still couldn't stop thinking about what would happen next, since everything had changed.

Nate referred to the stories of how Ashland had dealt with people who'd crossed him. Nate anticipated that Ashland would ruin Nate's reputation, but Elena doubted that Ashland was willing to expose his own deception by letting the truth get out. She encouraged Nate to stop blaming himself and stressing about what Ashland would do next. Elena questioned everything Ashland had ever said to her, and she thought someone should make him pay. "Someone like you?" Nate asked. Elena clucked that if she hadn't taken an oath not to do harm, it would be at the top of her to-do list.

Nate thanked Elena for being outraged on his behalf, and he resolved not to waste his time on Ashland. Nate regretted that he'd let Ashland completely dupe him, but Elena pointed out that Ashland had fooled everyone, including the wife who spent every hour of the day with him. Nate struggled to process how a man like that had had enough influence over him to get him thinking about changing his career path, and he imagined Ashland would have continued to manipulate him if Nate hadn't uncovered the truth. Lily and Devon entered the coffeehouse and overheard Nate ponder what he'd do if he didn't go to work for Ashland. Lily declared that Nate was just the man she wanted to see.

Lily repeated Nate's words about his future being uncertain, and Devon pointed out that both he and Lily had offered Nate the chance to work for them, yet Nate had turned them down. Nate explained that things hadn't worked out the way he'd expected, since he'd learned working for Ashland wouldn't be the best fit for him. Lily pressed for details, and Elena covered with a vague statement about seeing things from different perspectives. Lily wondered if it had anything to do with the concerns she'd raised about family politics and shifting alliances. Nate conceded that her advice had played a part in his decision.

Devon figured it had been better for Nate to politely decline the opportunity to protect his friendship with Ashland. Nate shared that he was still leaning toward stepping down at Memorial, but he had to determine his next move first. Lily enthused that she and Devon had the perfect solution for Nate. Lily stressed that the conversation couldn't leave the table, and Nate and Elena agreed to keep it top secret. Lily divulged that she and Devon had decided to merge Chancellor Industries and Hamilton-Winters as one big, happy family. Nate exclaimed that it was great news, and Elena marveled that two major corporations would be turning into one entity.

Lily and Devon explained that they still had details to work out, but they were cautiously optimistic about creating something very special. Lily anticipated running it together as a family, and she invited Nate to be part of it. Devon added that his and Lily's goal was to create an empire to leave behind for their kids and future members of their family. Lily imagined what Neil would have said about it, and Devon thought no one would have been happier and prouder than their father.

Nate wasn't sure where he fit in. Devon reasoned that Nate had already planned to make the jump to the corporate world, and Nate could blaze his own path at their family company. Nate agreed to think about it, and Devon asked for Elena's opinion. Elena loved the idea of all of them working together as a family, but she insisted that Nate had to make up his own mind. Lily teased that there was no pressure. Nate snapped that he wasn't sure it was the right move for him.

Taken aback, Devon sarcastically requested forgiveness for offering Nate a cool job. Nate swore that it was good news, but things were complicated because he was experiencing the aftermath of making a bad judgment call and needed time to regroup. Nate headed out, and Lily and Devon asked Elena what was going on. Elena didn't think it was her place to talk about it, but she assured them that Nate would be okay. Elena thought Nate would appreciate the job offer once he cooled down, and she expected that he'd need something to latch onto. Lily and Devon looked concerned.

Victoria realizes Ashland has been lying

Victoria realizes Ashland has been lying

At Crimson Lights, Traci told Billy that Jack was anxious to tell Billy about his trip to Los Angeles. She said Jack had discovered some surprising information about Keemo's life, and Traci was hoping the information would eventually help Jack heal. After some small talk about Billy's podcast, Traci and Billy left to see Jack.

When Phyllis arrived at Jack's, Jack told her he hadn't heard from the texter. Jack said the texter had the means to reach out to Allie. Phyllis reminded Jack the texter had claimed they would reconnect Jack with Allie. Jack said he'd contacted Mai, Keemo's sister, but she'd been as confused as they were. He said Mai and Allie hadn't been close, and they communicated infrequently. Phyllis encouraged Jack to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Phyllis told Jack she found it strange that the texter wanted to stay anonymous. Jack asked if he'd made a mistake allowing the texter to be an intermediary between him and Allie. Jack said Allie had made it very clear that she needed space, and he didn't want to be pushy. He said Allie knew Keemo hadn't wanted anything to do with him, and Jack was sure Allie was leery about the grandfather who'd arrived out of nowhere.

Traci and Billy arrived, and they were surprised to see Phyllis. Jack explained she was there to help him decide how best to approach Allie. Billy was shocked to learn that Jack had a granddaughter in California. He wanted to know when Allie would visit. Phyllis stated that Jack didn't want to be pushy because Allie had recently lost her father. Billy asked if Allie couldn't use some guidance, but Traci claimed Jack didn't want it to seem like he was taking over her life. Jack said he would love to welcome Allie into the family, but on her terms.

Jack told Billy he didn't want to make the same mistakes he'd made with Keemo. He'd pushed too hard when Keemo had been grieving his mother, and their relationship had never recovered. Billy claimed the situation with Allie was different. Billy felt it would be a mistake to not reach out to Allie.

Phyllis suggested that Jack contact Allie and explain how he felt. Traci felt Allie had a lot going on and needed time to sort things out. Billy claimed Allie needed support, and there was no one better than Jack to do that. Traci said Jack was also grieving, and he wanted to reach out to Allie to find out more about Keemo's life. Jack agreed with Traci.

Phyllis suggested that Jack reach out to Allie and talk to her about Keemo to keep Keemo's spirit alive. Jack said if that was what she needed, she knew how to reach him. He didn't want to pressure Allie to make himself feel better when Allie was dealing with so much pain. Traci said Jack could reach out to Allie at any time, but if he pushed too hard, Jack would never be able to fix that. Billy said none of it mattered if the texter convinced Allie to reach out to Jack.

At Keemo's, Allie was with the Realtor, Tanya. Allie told Tanya she was happy to have the Realtor for company. Allie told Tanya she'd spent most of her life in that house, and it was difficult to say goodbye. Tanya said Allie was lucky because it had been a cash offer on the house, and there wouldn't be any complications. It was one of the simplest transactions Tanya had ever had. Tanya claimed the buyer had only one condition to close the sale: the buyer insisted on meeting Allie. Tanya told Allie the buyer was on her way. Tanya left to get the documents from her car.

Alone and talking to her dad, Allie said the house had made her feel safe, loved, and understood, and it had been home. Then, she realized that without her dad, the house didn't feel the same, and without him, she no longer had a home. Allie asked Keemo if she was going to have one-sided conversations with him for the rest of her life or if that was part of grieving. She regretted being there because she wanted to remember the house the way it had been when he'd been there. She said those were the memories she wanted to keep.

Tanya returned with the documents. Allie, suddenly in a rush, thanked Tanya for all her help but said she had to leave. Tanya told Allie the buyer was already there. A woman entered and introduced herself as Taylor Jenson, and she said she was very happy to meet Allie.

At Society, Ashland approached Nate and said he understood that they weren't in a good place; however, once the truth was revealed, they would fix their relationship. Nate stated that he and Ashland had never been friends and that he'd been someone Ashland had used while conning Victoria and her family. Ashland denied it. Nate said he knew Ashland hadn't confessed to Victoria.

Ashland told Nate he was waiting until he had the whole story, not only that he'd been set up, but also by whom. Ashland said he was using all his resources to find out who was responsible, but he needed more time. Nate claimed Ashland's time was up. Ashland asked if Nate had gone to the Newmans with his accusations. Nate said the Newmans had a right to know. Ashland claimed Nate should have warned him. Nate asked why he would warn Ashland when Ashland hadn't been up-front with him.

Nate told Ashland the last thing he wanted to do was to help Ashland get away with anything, and it made him sick that Ashland had used him and his position to give Ashland's scam credibility. When Elena arrived, Nate said he'd just told Ashland that his investment wasn't going to pay off. Ashland told Elena he had no idea what Nate had told her, but it had all been a misunderstanding. Elena stated it had been an elaborate scheme, and she couldn't tell Ashland how disgusted she was with him. Ashland left.

Elena said she'd never seen Nate so angry. Nate said he was angry with himself for not having seen through Ashland earlier. Elena asked how Nate would have known that Ashland didn't have a deadly disease. Nate claimed Billy had told them prior to the wedding that Victoria had been making a mistake and that Ashland couldn't be trusted, but they'd thought Billy had been jealous. Elena claimed Billy had investigated Ashland's past, and he'd had more information than they'd had at the time.

Nate told Elena that the story Billy had published should have been a clue. They'd dismissed it because the source had recanted everything. Nate had wanted to believe that none of it had been relevant to the person who Ashland had become. Nate felt he should have been more skeptical and asked more questions. Elena said Nate had done the right thing, and he'd exposed Ashland to the Newmans. Elena stated that Ashland had been very wrong about Nate; Nate couldn't be bought off.

Elena told Nate he'd discovered the truth before he'd quit his job and signed a contract with Ashland. Nate reminded Elena that Ashland had a reputation for going after people who'd crossed him. Elena said the Newmans would have Nate's back. She told him not to worry about his job because Lily and Devon wanted him on board with their company. Nate said he was concerned about Victoria.

Nate told Elena that Victor had wanted Victoria to see the evidence immediately. Elena wondered how Victoria would be able to trust anyone again. Nate said that when he'd arrived in town, Victoria had been recovering from a relationship that had become physically abusive. He said it had been a leap of faith for her to allow Ashland into her heart, and Ashland had lied to Victoria, knowing her history. He said that any man who could do that wasn't capable of love.

At Newman, Victoria stated that it wasn't a coincidence that the whole family had shown up. She claimed it was a planned and coordinated attack on her marriage. She said they'd wanted Ashland out of the office so he couldn't defend himself against any allegations. Nick said Ashland would make excuses, and they had new information. Victoria felt the new information had been spun into the theory they'd concocted. She claimed they wanted to browbeat her into seeing things their way. She was about to walk out, but Adam blocked her way. Victor asked her to listen to what they had to say.

Victor told Victoria they were all there to support her in getting through a very tough challenge. Victoria claimed she was a strong woman, and she would ban her family from her life. She refused to be bullied by them. Adam told Victoria they wanted to handle it privately and discreetly. Victoria asked if that was a threat, and she asked if they would publicly smear Ashland through the media if she didn't go along with them.

Victor told Victoria that Ashland had lied to all of them, and he'd taken advantage of their compassion. Victoria claimed it was all about control of the company. Nick asked if Victoria believed Victor would put her through such heartbreak just to regain control of the company. She claimed it made more sense than asking her to believe that Ashland didn't love her and never had. Nikki said no one was saying Ashland didn't love her. Victoria claimed they were saying Ashland had lied to her so he could get his hands on the company and that she was too much of a dimwit to see it happening.

Victoria asked if Victor hadn't intentionally broken her heart when he'd had her arrested on her and Billy's wedding day. Victor claimed that was ancient history, and he'd been right about Billy. Nick asked if she believed he would hurt her in any way. Victoria said Nick had been up-front about his dislike of Ashland from the start. She claimed that everyone had a reason for wanting Ashland out of the picture. Nikki stated she had no reason to have Ashland gone. She asked if Victoria was going to accuse her of betrayal.

Nikki reminded Victoria that she'd always been Victoria's biggest ally, in the office and in her private life. Nikki said she'd been thrilled to see Victoria finally in love and happy. Victoria acknowledged Nikki's loyalty, but she felt that Victor had convinced Nikki that Ashland had been deceiving her. Nikki said she hadn't wanted to believe it and that everything could be explained as coincidences, but the evidence was overwhelming.

Victoria asked how Nikki could be convinced by a shaky video of some doctor with an outlandish story, and she said the bank statements proved nothing. Victoria called it circumstantial at best. Nick said that Michael hadn't been heard from since the bank statements had arrived from Peru. Victoria claimed that had nothing to do with Ashland. Victor said they had conclusive evidence from someone they all trusted. Nick told Victoria he'd gone to Nate for help. Nate had trusted Ashland, and he'd wanted to see if Ashland had been telling the truth. Nate had looked into Ashland's medical records.

Victor told Victoria that Nate had discovered that the scans taken at Memorial after Ashland's heart attack had been clear of cancer. Victoria claimed it was a mistake because Ashland had undergone chemotherapy for his cancer. Nick said Nate had discovered there hadn't been any chemotherapy appointments, and Ashland had never undergone chemotherapy. Victoria laughed and claimed they were all out of their minds. She said she'd driven Ashland to the hospital herself. Nikki pointed out that Ashland had never wanted Victoria to go in and sit with him. Victoria claimed Ashland hadn't wanted her to see him that way. Nick asked if Victoria had ever gone in with Ashland to register him.

Victoria told Nick that after chemotherapy, Ashland had always been quite ill and that Nate had had needed to take Ashland home once because Ashland hadn't been well enough to do it himself. She asked if everyone was telling her that Ashland had faked everything. Victor asked for another explanation. Victoria said maybe the hospital's records had been hacked or someone had replaced the scans and chemotherapy information. Nick asked Victoria if that sounded even remotely plausible.

Victoria told her family that she was going to find the answers on her own. She and Ashland would leave for Tuscany, and she would run the company on her own without any of them. When Victoria tried to leave, Adam barred her way again. Adam claimed they weren't done. Victoria claimed she'd heard what they'd had to say, and she was disgusted that they had dragged Nate into the situation.

Victoria told everyone that they were trying to drive a wedge between Ashland and anyone who cared about him, but it wouldn't work. Adam said he knew what Victoria was going through. He'd been in the same situation the previous year. He'd been deceived and betrayed by someone he'd loved. He said Chelsea had also been faking a medical condition. Victoria asked if Adam was comparing Ashland with Chelsea, the con artist. Adam claimed there were similarities. Victoria said Ashland was a billionaire who'd built his company from the ground up, but Chelsea had been conning people her whole life.

Nick reminded Victoria that Ashland had lied about his identity his entire adult life and he'd built that fortune on a fraudulent inheritance. Nick said if Chelsea was a liar and a scammer, so was Ashland. Adam said he could never have imagined Chelsea doing something like that to him; however, after he'd looked at all the angles, there had only been one person framing him for poisoning Rey. One day, Chelsea had slipped up, and he'd realized she'd been playing him. He said Victoria and Ashland would live their dream life in Tuscany, and then the truth would hit her: Ashland was playing her, because even the best con artist couldn't keep up the charade every second of every day.

Ashland arrived. Victoria said she was just leaving, and she would explain everything to him at home. Victor reminded her that she'd wanted Ashland to defend himself, but Victoria said they would handle things in private. Nikki asked if Victoria didn't believe they would be fair or if Victoria was afraid that Ashland wouldn't have a good explanation.

Ashland asked Victoria what everyone had been telling her. Victoria said that Nate had looked into his medical records because he'd been hoping to defend Ashland against all the allegations. She said the scan from the previous year hadn't shown any sign of cancer. She added that there hadn't been any chemotherapy appointments or treatments. She asked Ashland if there had been a mistake.

Ashland faced the Newmans and said they were all determined to drive a wedge between him and Victoria, no matter how much it hurt her. Victor asked if Ashland had an explanation for what Nate had discovered. Ashland claimed it didn't matter what he said because they wouldn't believe him. Victoria stated she wanted to believe him. Ashland said he'd spoken to Nate. Ashland had no idea what they'd all said to him, but Nate had been rattled. He said it didn't matter how he defended himself against the attack because there would be another and another as long as he and Victoria were together. He said he couldn't keep fighting endlessly, and Victoria couldn't turn her back on her family.

Ashland told Victoria he wished it was enough for her to know that he loved her with all his heart because her love meant everything to him. He said she'd changed his life. He pointed to the Newmans and said it was obviously never going to work. He said he was done trying, and he walked out. Nikki hugged Victoria. Victoria broke down sobbing and said she knew Ashland had been lying.

Allie agrees to meet with Jack for coffee

Allie agrees to meet with Jack for coffee

At home, Jack remembered that when he'd been in Los Angeles, he'd told Allie he didn't want to force a relationship with her. He'd explained that he'd recently lost his mother and knew the enormity of what Allie was dealing with. Allie had told him that if he ever returned to Los Angeles, perhaps they could meet for coffee.

Phyllis interrupted Jack's reverie and said she knew Traci had the best intentions when it involved her grandniece, but sometimes one had to throw caution to the wind. She said Traci hadn't been with Jack to see the pain in Allie's eyes. Phyllis said if Jack wanted to help Allie, he could. Jack realized he couldn't expect Allie to make the first move; that was up to him. Phyllis agreed and suggested they book the Jabot jet and fly to Los Angeles.

Jack told Phyllis he wasn't ready to throw caution to the wind. He wanted to bring Allie into the family, but he wanted to think things through because it was a delicate situation. Jack said he didn't want to scare Allie away. Phyllis asked if there was a way to bring Allie to Genoa City. Phyllis suggested they concoct a story, but Jack didn't want to start a relationship with Allie based on a lie. Jack decided to take Allie up on her offer of meeting her for coffee.

Jack told Phyllis he was going to reach out to Allie and inform her he would be in Los Angeles for a day or two, and he would like to meet for coffee. He said he would go with whatever Allie decided. Phyllis said that was a solid plan.

Jack called Allie and told her he'd been thinking about her a lot. Jack explained that Jabot did a lot of business in California, it looked like he would be in Los Angeles in the next few days, and he thought they could meet for coffee or dinner. He stressed there was no pressure. Allie had assumed their next meeting wouldn't be for a while. Jack said he wouldn't be there for a day or so, and she could let him know what she decided. They ended the call. Jack seemed disappointed. Phyllis reminded Jack that Allie hadn't said no.

When Billy arrived at home, Lily told him that his first podcast had received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Billy was surprised when Lily showed him the numbers. Lily said his openness and honesty had struck a chord. Billy was relieved because he'd thought he would be trashed for putting something so personal out there. Billy felt that if he could help one person avoid his pitfalls, it would all have been worth it. Lily encouraged him to put out the next episode. Billy wasn't sure he had anything else to say. Lily found that difficult to believe.

Billy told Lily he'd dug deep, and a lot of the pent-up pain had gone away. He'd talked about Delia and all the good and bad things that had happened since her death and how he'd come out on the other side. He asked Lily what else he had to say and where he could go from there. Lily claimed he had many more stories to tell because Billy Abbott always had something to say. Billy said he wasn't so sure people wanted to hear it. Lily said the response had been positive, and it had also had a positive effect on Billy -- his mood was better, and he was more focused at work and more energized.

Chelsea and Nate arrived at her penthouse. She told Nate she'd been spending a lot of time with Connor, and she and Chloe were doing well with their new clothing brand. Chelsea said she was starting a new chapter; however, it was tricky returning to the penthouse because of all the memories. Nate apologized for asking her to meet him there. He said he felt it was time for him to make a change.

Nate agreed with Chelsea that the penthouse hadn't changed. She thanked him for offering to buy the penthouse from a former poisoner. Nate said she'd owned up to her mistake, and it appeared that Rey had gotten past it, as well. Nate said he couldn't hold it against her, even though Rey was his patient. Chelsea admitted Rey was very special. She said most people would have had her locked up for what she'd done, but Rey was willing to give her a second chance. She said she would be forever thankful for that.

When Devon arrived, Nate asked if Devon would like to be neighbors again. Devon asked if Nate and Elena wanted to move into the penthouse after all the work he'd had done to his house. Nate stated that all that work was the reason he and Elena had talked about moving. It seemed that one repair job would get done, and another would pop up.

After Chelsea left, Nate said he knew Devon hadn't been happy when Nate had sold the penthouse after inheriting it from Neil. He expressed hope that he could make up for that mistake. Devon asked if the move had anything to do with that judgment call Nate had talked about. Nate said there could be consequences down the road from it, but he couldn't worry about it; he had to move forward and live his life. Devon said he was always available if Nate wanted to talk. Nate insisted he didn't want to drag Devon into his mess, and it was better if Devon didn't know. Nate wanted to talk about joining Devon and Lily in their company. He asked if the merger was really going to happen.

Devon and Nate arrived at Billy and Lily's to talk about the merger. Devon felt they could hash out how the companies would work together and also find a place for Nate to fit in. Lily grinned from ear to ear. Lily felt she'd come up with a plan they could all agree on.

Lily told Devon that they needed to consolidate to give Chancellor and Hamilton-Winters a sharper and more twofold focus. They would keep the entertainment division under Hamilton-Winters, and Chancellor would focus on merchandise, ancillary products, and commercial real estate such as theatres, concert venues, and hotels to support the entertainment half. Devon agreed their resources would feed each other and give the consumers the full package. Excited, Devon claimed it was a corporate match made in heaven.

Nate asked Lily if there was a place for him inside the family business. Lily said Devon would handle the entertainment side, and she and Billy would handle the merchandise and hospitality division and share resources when needed. She explained that they would maintain autonomy over their respective divisions. Devon asked how Jill and the board members would feel about their plan, because he didn't think they would be too excited about the consolidation aspect.

Lily told Devon that Jill had the full support of the board, and she was confident they would also have full support from the board. Lily asked Nate how he felt about being part of their plan. Nate stated he was ready for a new beginning. It was a question of where he would fit into the corporate structure. Devon asked if Nate would like to be his COO. Stunned, Nate said Devon had too much faith in him. Devon said Nate was smart, he'd studied business, he'd been running the entire surgery department at the hospital, and he was already on the board of Hamilton-Winters. Devon and Lily were confident Nate could handle it.

After Nate and Devon left, Lily told Billy she couldn't believe the merger was really going to happen. Lily said that since Devon and Nate were on board, it was all coming together. She was happy that her entire family in Genoa City would be working together.

At Keemo's, Allie asked why Taylor wanted to meet with her in person. Taylor claimed she only wanted to meet the owner because she was curious why someone would want to sell such a lovely home. Allie explained that she had an apartment near school, her dad had owned the home, and he'd recently passed away. Taylor offered her condolences and asked if Allie had other family. Before Allie could respond, she received a call from Jack. Taylor smiled.

After Allie ended her call with Jack, Taylor asked if everything was all right. Allie told Taylor it had been a family issue. Taylor claimed she could relate, since she'd been hurt more times than she could say, and it was important to have family when things got rough; there was little time to make amends, and regrets were difficult to live with when it was too late to connect. Taylor said family was the most precious thing they had, and Taylor wished she had more relatives she could turn to.

Allie told Taylor it had been comforting to hear that from someone who knew what she was going through. Taylor said losing a parent was the hardest blow life had to offer, and Allie had to feel lost and alone without her father. Taylor said that Allie had been speaking to someone named Jack, and she said that perhaps Allie could use some family at that moment. Allie asked why Taylor said Jack was her family. Taylor said she'd assumed Jack was family because Allie had mentioned that the call had been about a family issue.

Allie told Taylor the situation with Jack was very complicated. Taylor said that if Jack could be someone Allie could lean on or who could offer her companionship or support, that might be what Allie needed at that moment. Taylor hoped she hadn't overstepped. Allie claimed the fresh perspective had been helpful. She'd always asked her dad for advice, but he was gone. She said she had "so many questions" she wished he could answer. Taylor said she was sure Allie would know where to turn when she needed to.

Allie told Taylor she appreciated everything Taylor had had to say, and she was happy they'd had a chance to meet. She said it was nice to know that her father's house was going to someone as kind and sensitive as Taylor.

Allie asked Taylor when she planned to move in. Taylor wasn't sure because she had a few family issues to deal with, and they would determine her next move. Taylor said the house was her safety net, and it was important to have that. She told Allie to never underestimate the importance of having a place to land.

Taylor thanked Allie, and she hoped Allie would figure things out. She told Allie not to be afraid to reach out to the people who cared about her. Allie left. Outside Allie called Jack and told him she wanted to meet him for coffee when he arrived in Los Angeles. Jack was delighted and said he was looking forward to their meeting.

Inside, Taylor closed the door and smiled.

At Society, Jack accused Phyllis of coercing him there as a distraction. Phyllis began talking about Summer and how Harrison knew more words in Italian than Summer did. Summer had told her she'd found a replacement for Phyllis to work at Marchetti. Jack asked if Phyllis had any regrets about not working with Summer. Phyllis said if she'd been in Milan, she wouldn't have been able to go on that great adventure to Los Angeles with Jack. Jack stated that the trip would have been more difficult for him if Phyllis hadn't been there for him as his constant supporter and his loyal counsel.

Phyllis thanked Jack for allowing her to talk him into taking the text messages seriously. She claimed she was happy to help. Jack received a text message from his texter: "Doing what I can to help. I think Allie might be more receptive soon."

Jack and Phyllis arrived at the Grand Phoenix. Phyllis wanted to find out who the texter was and why they were so hellbent of remaining anonymous. Jack said he was looking at the text message as a step in the right direction. Phyllis wondered why the texter wanted to help. Jack didn't want to question their motives because, at that moment, they were doing him a huge favor. He wouldn't have known he had a granddaughter if not for the texter telling him to get to California.

Phyllis told Jack the text messages were from a woman. She wanted to put a tracker on the messages, but Jack refused. He didn't want to scare that person away. His priority was Allie, and the latest text message had given him new hope.

When Elena arrived at Society, she received a text message from Nate: "Meet me for a sweet surprise or two."

Elena arrived at Nate's penthouse, and she saw a bottle of Champagne on ice. She called out to Nate. Nate entered and told Elena the penthouse was theirs if she wanted it. Elena was stunned. Nate said he knew she'd wanted to make their home special, and it wasn't happening at their house. He understood if it was too awkward for her to live across the hall from the home she'd shared with Devon. Elena said she'd been developing her friendships with Devon and Amanda. Nate didn't want to reopen any old wounds. He said Devon would love it if they were neighbors.

Nate told Elena she needed to feel completely comfortable in her own home, so if she didn't want to live there, he would return the keys. Elena loved the idea of living there and focusing on the joy of living. She asked if that was what he wanted or if it had something to do with what was really going on. Nate said he was determined to move past the whole Ashland situation, and the penthouse was part of that. He was looking for a clean slate. Nate felt it was the right move -- reclaiming an inheritance he shouldn't have given up.

Nate told Elena he felt that Neil had left him the penthouse for a reason. Elena said he'd mentioned two surprises. She was blown away by the first, and she was afraid to ask about the second. He said Elena would be living with a newly minted COO.

At home, Devon looked at Neil's photo and said he had some very exciting news, but Devon felt that Neil had had a hand in making it all happen in the first place. He said everything was finally coming together the way Neil had always dreamed it would.

Victoria opens up to Billy about Ashland

Victoria opens up to Billy about Ashland

At Newman Media, Nick told Victor he was worried about Victoria because she'd bolted after realizing Ashland had lied to her about his cancer. Victor said he had it on good authority that Victoria had spent the night at a hotel.

Nikki told Nick that Victoria had to deal with discovering her marriage was a sham. Victor said he was more concerned about what Ashland would do after his dramatic exit from the office. Nick said Ashland had done that to buy some time to plan his next move. Nick was concerned Victoria would confront Ashland. Nick said he couldn't believe Ashland had, in front of friends and family, made vows to Victoria to make her feel more loved and valued, knowing it was all a lie. Nick wished there was a way to get Ashland out of town and out of Victoria's life.

Nikki told Nick that Victoria wouldn't be done with Ashland. Nikki said Ashland needed to leave of his own volition because if they tried to force him out, he would retaliate. Nick stated there was a possibility that the latest revelation hadn't changed Victoria's mind about Ashland. Victor refused to believe Victoria would continue to ignore the obvious. Nick said it might be easier for Victoria to defend Ashland than to accept what he'd done. Nick said Victoria had merely been a way for Ashland to get his hands on Newman Enterprises.

Nikki told Nick and Victor she refused to believe that Victoria would stay with Ashland. Nick reminded Nikki that anytime anyone had raised concerns about Ashland, Victoria had defended him. He said they needed a contingency plan in case Ashland did something unexpected. Victor confessed he'd never trusted Ashland from the moment he'd set foot in Genoa City; he'd left things alone because Victoria was in love with him, and Ashland made her happy. He said he wanted to take away the excruciating pain she was going through.

Victor agreed with Nikki that Victoria needed space to work things out on her own. Victor said his people were watching Victoria, and they knew where she was at all times. Nikki said she hoped Victoria would figure out a way to eliminate Ashland from her life. Victor said that when Victoria figured out what she needed to do, they had to figure out how to sever Ashland's ties to the company. Nick claimed it wouldn't be easy because gaining control of Newman Enterprises had been Ashland's main objective from the start.

Alone at Crimson Lights, Victoria recalled when Ashland had said that it didn't matter what he said or how he defended himself against the attack, and he'd wished it was enough for Victoria to know he loved her with all his heart because her love meant everything to him. He'd said she'd changed his life; however, pointing to the Newmans, Ashland had said it was never going to work, and he was done trying.

Victoria snapped out of her reverie when Billy stopped at her table and asked if everything was okay.

Billy asked Victoria if Ashland had taken a turn for the worse. Victoria asked if that was the reason he'd tried to blow up her wedding and humiliate her in public. Billy stated he'd been worried that she'd been making a mistake, and he assured her he'd deleted the video. Billy reminded her that he would always care about her and her happiness.

Victoria told Billy not to try to prove how altruistic he was. She said Billy had written the article about Ashland because Billy had wanted to ruin Ashland's reputation. Billy stated he'd done that to protect himself and the company, and he said Victoria knew ChancComm's system had been hacked. Everything in that article had been true, yet he'd taken the hit and lost his credibility and his job. Victoria claimed he'd chosen to walk away, but Billy said he'd swallowed all his doubts because he'd wanted to make sure Victoria was happy. Billy said he really wished he'd been wrong about Ashland.

Victoria accused Billy of wanting everything to be true about Ashland; however, she admitted that Billy had warned her many times. She admitted she'd ignored him, but Billy had been right. Billy asked what had happened. Victoria said everything had been a lie: the cancer, every moment they'd spent together, his deep love for her, and their connection. She said she'd felt "so lucky" to be with him; she'd stood by him, terrified he would die from the disease. She'd prayed they would have more time together. Victoria began to sob and said her world had fallen apart.

Stunned, Billy asked Victoria if Ashland had lied about being sick. She admitted he had. Victoria said she was angry, and she regretted the months she'd ignored everyone who'd warned her that Ashland would betray her. She'd been angry with Billy for taking something away from her that she'd never had -- a great love. She said she was very angry at Ashland and angrier with herself for having believed him. Billy asked how anyone could pretend they were dying to get what they wanted. Victoria didn't know, but all the evidence pointed to him lying about his cancer. She said Ashland hadn't wanted people to see him for the shark he was so that he could infiltrate Newman.

Victoria told Billy that Ashland had wanted a merger from the day he'd set his foot in town, and he'd seen her as the way in. She said he'd taken advantage of her love and ambition. She said Ashland had exploited her. Billy spat that that "parasitic son of a bitch" had let his friend die, and he'd stolen his friend's name. Billy said it was confirmation of who Ashland was and Victoria hadn't deserved any of it.

Victoria told Billy she couldn't get past Ashland telling her he loved her and how profoundly she'd changed his life; however, the mask had fallen off, and she'd seen the monster he was. She said she'd realized that everything her family had told her about Ashland had been the truth. Billy said he couldn't believe it was about money because Ashland had enough money to buy small countries. Billy asked Victoria what Ashland wanted.

Victoria told Billy that Ashland probably wanted something to happen to her once he was in a position to take control of the company. Billy asked if Ashland had ever said or done anything to her that would have come across as threatening or dangerous. Victoria said she didn't believe he had. Billy said he hated that Victoria would have to consider that Ashland might be capable of doing something to get her out of the way. Victoria said she had no idea what Ashland was capable of.

Billy told Victoria she deserved to be happy, especially after everything he'd put her through. Victoria said it was different because Billy was a good man, despite his flaws. Billy admitted it had taken a long time for him to deal with some of his stubborn demons. Victoria said at least he'd acknowledged them and was working to challenge them. Victoria acknowledged that she and Billy had butted heads from time to time, but she knew she could always count on him. Billy said she could trust him with anything.

Victoria told Billy she had to leave. Billy asked if there was anything he could do to help. Victoria said she would figure out what she had to do. Billy said he would be there for her, no matter what. Victoria said that talking things through with him had helped a lot. She asked Billy to keep their conversation between them. Billy asked, "What conversation?" Victoria thanked Billy. As she was about to leave, Ashland arrived and told Victoria he'd been looking everywhere for her.

At Society, when Adam and Sally saw Ashland, Adam told Sally things had blown wide open between Ashland and Victoria. It had been a volatile situation. Sally asked if Adam saw a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Adam said he did.

Alone, Adam approached Ashland. Adam suggested that Ashland leave Genoa City. Ashland asked why he would do that. Adam said because of the shame, embarrassment, and being exposed. Adam said Victoria had accepted the truth, and Adam wanted to make a deal. Ashland asked what Adam had to offer that Ashland would be interested in.

Adam said if Ashland made a clean break from Newman Locke and Victoria, then Newman Media wouldn't publish article after article about his cancer fraud. Adam said the articles would explain why Ashland was the lowest of the low and how Ashland's lies would affect Harrison. Ashland said Harrison was being raised by his biological father in Milan. Adam stated that Harrison was the only person Ashland truly cared about; everything Ashland had done and created had been for Harrison.

Adam said that after the cold and calculated way Ashland had handled Victoria, Ashland hoped everyone would assume Ashland felt the same indifference toward Harrison. He said Ashland had shown himself to be a patient man, and he had claimed he'd sent Harrison away to shield him from witnessing his decline. Adam said Ashland had really wanted Harrison somewhere safe in case something went wrong, and it had.

Adam told Ashland the Newman resources and power would be unleashed on Ashland, and it would be relentless. Ashland would have to kiss his reunion with Harrison goodbye. Ashland claimed he didn't respond well to threats. Adam stated it hadn't been a threat, only a carefully considered offer. They knew what Ashland had done and why he'd done it; they had the proof, and Adam said he was trying to find a workable solution.

Adam told Ashland that, personally, he admired the sheer audacity of what Ashland had pulled off; however, it had been lie after lie about his past, yet he'd been able to get the Newmans to sing his praises. Adam said lies had been told, documents forged, and an inheritance stolen. Adam said those things had happened. All of that had been overlooked because Ashland had made Victoria happy.

Adam said Ashland had Victoria believing they had a great love and that it was Ashland and Victoria against the world. Adam said he had to do his part to protect the family and the business. He said Ashland had nothing to defend himself with. Ashland said it wasn't over, and he wasn't giving up on Victoria. As Ashland stood up to leave, Adam said Ashland was a lot of things, but he wasn't delusional. Before Ashland left, he warned Adam never to talk to him about his son again.

Adam joined Sally and asked how much she'd heard. She said she'd heard nothing, but it had been very clear how Ashland had reacted to what Adam had said to him. She pointed out that Ashland had had no intention of leaving when they'd arrived, but after Adam had spoken to him, Ashland hadn't been able to get out fast enough.

Adam told Sally that Ashland had been lying about his cancer diagnosis, and they had the proof to back it up. Sally guessed Ashland was after Newman Enterprises. Adam said Ashland had used his illness to win Victoria's trust and sympathy. Adam said Ashland had faked his illness to rush Victoria into marriage, claiming they'd had to take advantage of the little time they had. Sally noted that that had taken a lot of planning, like the lies Ashland had needed to juggle and the people he'd had to convince. Adam said things had become suspicious after Ashland's miraculous treatment in Peru. Sally said Ashland had used his miracle to persuade Victoria to make him CEO.

Adam told Sally he'd told Ashland what a series of articles would do to Harrison if Harrison found out. Adam said Ashland had pretended it hadn't bothered him, but Adam could tell Ashland was plotting his next move. Adam said he hoped Ashland would realize he was out of options and cut his losses. Adam said he could tell it would upset Ashland if Harrison found out the truth. Adam said he wondered how Ashland was going to play it. Adam suggested they make a list of the pros and cons if they exposed Ashland's lies.

Adam told Sally the world would find out about Ashland's Trojan horse infiltration of the company. Adam said Ashland would make the leadership of the company look stupid for falling for it. He said they needed to increase pressure to make Ashland want to leave.

Adam told Sally no one wanted to acknowledge Victoria's complicity and how she'd put the family company in jeopardy and allowed herself to be completely taken in by Ashland. Adam said he hoped Victor would see that his precious daughter had put Victor's legacy at risk and that he would have doubts about Victoria's judgment. Sally stated that Victor would need someone he could trust to take over. Adam said Victoria was in pain, and they were plotting to take advantage of her downfall. He asked Sally if they were the worst. Sally said they weren't because someone had to keep their eye on the ball.

Sally told Adam that while Victoria's parents and siblings were running to her rescue, she and Adam would keep their eye on the bottom line. She said they would put out the fires before they began and hold everything together while Victoria fell apart. She said they would make themselves invaluable, irreplaceable, and unforgettable. The Newmans would turn to them then she and Adam would show his family who really belonged in the driver's seat. Adam said Sally was exactly what he'd always needed. They kissed.

At the Grand Phoenix, after Rey and Chelsea exchanged some small talk and a few giggles, Rey asked who Chelsea had met with. Chelsea explained the woman was a fabulous fabric designer who worked with gorgeous material. Chelsea said she hoped they could make magic together. Chelsea admitted that she hadn't been able to focus on anything the woman had said because she'd been thinking about Connor during the meeting. She told Rey she didn't recognize Connor anymore. Chelsea realized that Rey was there for a reason, and she didn't want to bother him with her drama.

Rey told Chelsea he was there to pick up a gift certificate for Faith. Rey said it was college season; if Faith got into one of her top choices, it would be congratulations, but if not, she could spend a day at the spa. Chelsea said he was a great stepdad. Rey said he loved kids, and he'd had a lot of experience with them. Chelsea explained that one minute, Connor wanted to cook with her and watch movies, and the next, she'd become the enemy to be ignored and avoided at all costs. At those times, she said everything she did was wrong or ridiculous. She said Connor had had his heart set on her and Adam reuniting when he'd returned from boarding school.

Rey told Chelsea he understood that Connor was looking to fix things and that sometimes change felt like a solution, but often it was only a distraction. Rey told Chelsea he'd been raised by a single mother, and he'd always felt he had to take care of her. He said things were different for Connor because his dad was in his life, and Connor didn't feel he had to take on the responsibility of being the man of the house. Rey said Connor was confident Chelsea would be okay if he went back to boarding school.

When Chelsea grew teary-eyed, Rey asked if he'd said something wrong. Chelsea said Rey had said all the right things, and they were good tears. She admitted she felt Connor deserved better than her. Rey said she was raising a happy, funny, and talented kid, and she was doing a great job. He said she had a big heart, she was fun, and she was completely unpredictable in a nice way. Chelsea said she felt the same about Rey, and she trusted him.
