Cold feet? The Young and the Restless' Melissa Ordway weighs in on Abby's latest wedding plans

Abby has frequently been unlucky in love on The Young and the Restless, but things are looking up with Devon.

The Young and the Restless' Abby Newman has spent years trying to get marriage right. She was briefly engaged to Tyler Michaelson before breaking things off, but in 2015, Abby finally got a man to put a ring on it. Ben "Stitch" Rayburn had a young son, later diagnosed with a brain tumor to explain his behaviors, who caused Abby to fall down a flight of stairs and lose the baby she was carrying.

After Abby and Stitch's short-lived marriage ended in divorce, Abby became involved with Arturo Rosales. They also became engaged, but their romance couldn't survive Arturo's affair with his sister-in-law, Mia.

Later, Abby fell in love with Chance Chancellor and married him because the pair had decided they wanted to be parents. Abby learned the road to motherhood would be hard. Her previous miscarriage prevented her from carrying a child to term, and Chance had a low sperm count, which meant they would need a surrogate and a sperm donor to have a child. Enter Devon and Mariah. Devon donated his sperm. Mariah carried the child, and nine months later, Dominic was born.

However, Chance and Abby's marriage didn't last long. He was away on a dangerous mission during the pregnancy, was presumed dead for a few weeks, and didn't bond with the baby when he returned home. But Devon was completely attached and became more of a parent than Chance, which brought Abby and Devon closer together.

After a moment of weakness and passion, Devon and Abby ended up having sex, which promptly ended Abby's second marriage. However, it began a new romance for Devon and Abby as they fell in love. When Devon proposed, Abby quickly said yes but then began to have cold feet, something Melissa Ordway understands.

"I feel like she's just nervous that she's gonna mess it up," Ordway explained to Soap Hub. "Devon has been her best friend for so long. So it's like not like if, if something goes wrong like, he's the father of her son, he's her best friend. It's not like it's a relationship where they can kind of just move on from one another and just like, ok, we're done with this, and it didn't work out."

However, Ordway does believe this marriage will be the one to work out for Abby for a very good reason. Her father, Victor Newman, approves.

"If you got Victor's approval, then you're all set," Ordway said. "Neil was Victor's best friend. Neil and Ashley had a special connection. Neil was Abby's Godfather...I just feel like the families go well together."

Could this be the match made in heaven that Abby and Devon have both been looking for? Time will tell.
