A Family Matters reunion will be happening on The Young and the Restless! Telma Hopkins has joined the CBS soap opera and will share scenes with her former sitcom son Bryton James (Devon Hamilton).).

The 90s block of sitcoms branded "TGIF" ran on ABC, but it's going to be CBS viewers who will soon get a blast of nostalgia from the popular programming group that included shows such as Full House, Step by Step, and Boy Meets World. The Young and the Restless has cast Family Matters star Telma Hopkins for a brief role that will reunite her with her former TV son Bryton James (Devon Hamilton)!

EW reports that Hopkins has signed on to play the short-term role of Denise Tolliver, a private detective who reveals shocking information about the past of Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan). The actress will be sharing scenes with James, marking the pair's first time working together since Family Matters went off the air in 1998.

"It is kind of like coming home," enthuses Hopkins of her Y&R gig. "It is full circle. I don't feel I have ever lost touch with [James] but certainly it is nice to look across a room and see that smiling face that I am so used to. It feels like home, like family, like Family Matters."

Adds James, "Acting felt effortless and comfortable when we stepped on the stage together. When the scene started we had to act like we didn't know each other but it has reminded me and made me feel really grateful about how long I have been able to do this because Telma is one of the reasons that I have enjoyed it for 30 years. To step on my first stage with her and have Telma be the one to make me feel so comfortable and at home back then, it is very special."

Hopkins played the role of Rachel Crawford on Family Matters, which ran from 1989 to 1997 on ABC and 1997 to 1998 on CBS. James played the character's son Richie. Some of Hopkins other credits include Bosom Buddies, Gimme a Break, Half and Half, and a recent appearance on Netflix's Dead to Me.

Hopkins will appear in multiple Y&R episodes beginning Tuesday, June 1. To see a first-look photo, check out EW's original story here.
