A love of Sharon Case is planted firmly in the hearts of soap opera fans, who have enjoyed watching the talented actress in the role of The Young and the Restless' Sharon Newman since 1994. But she actually started earning viewer love before she came to Genoa City with appearances on the popular Darren Star and Aaron Spelling series Beverly Hills, 90210. The actress recently joined two of the drama's other stars -- Jennie Garth (Kelly) and Tori Spelling (Donna) -- on the iHeartRADIO podcast 90210MG to recall some of her memories of playing Darla. And while she was at it, she dropped a few fun Y&R tidbits that have fans talking.
As for her Beverly Hills, 90210 memories, Case opens up about how she booked her first episode of the iconic series, how she felt terrified and "like a fish out of water" during her second episode, and what it was like to work with Ian Ziering (Steve).
"I remember how [Ian] came into the hair and makeup trailer, just came banging in, like this is just his house," she shares. "He just threw the door open, started shouting things, but he was really funny, and I was taken aback, but he was really silly like that. He was just really natural and... he certainly isn't quiet!"
The conversation quickly turns to Y&R, with Case revealing some of the changes that have taken place at the CBS soap opera due to the COVID-19 safety restrictions. One of those is that all of the stars have to follow quarantine guidelines that include no physical contact and staying six feet apart -- but the actress reveals that the guidelines don't apply to her and Mark Grossman (Adam Newman), because they're a real-life couple!
Some of Case's fans already suspected that she and Grossman were dating in real life, but she confirms the news to Garth and Spelling. "We've never really talked about it so bluntly," she divulges. "The reason why we finally mentioned it to the studio is just so that we wouldn't have to distance, in case the show wanted to write us in scenes together."
As Y&R viewers know, the CBS soap opera has taken advantage of the fact that Case and Grossman "can touch or kiss" and have written a lot of scenes for the pair, including a spontaneous smooch between Adam and Sharon that prompted the current shocker of Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) poisoning Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) and framing Adam for the crime!
