Y&R seeking two African-American actors for roles

It's not exactly a population boom, but Genoa City will soon have two new faces popping up in its city limits. The Young and the Restless is casting two new characters.

The Young and the Restless has issued its first casting calls of the Mal Young era. The show is seeking two Black performers for roles that may or may not be linked to an existing character on the canvas.

The first role is Lucinda, described as "an African-American woman in her late 60s/early 70s who is looking to make peace with her past." The second character is being referred to as "Ellis, an African-American man in his late 60s/early 70s who has drifted away from his family and is hoping to right the wrongs of the past."

There has been rampant speculation on Twitter that Lucinda and Ellis might be Neil Winters' parents. A quick check of his Who's Who in Genoa City character profile shows that Neil's parents are unknown to viewers.

Y&R doesn't comment on casting rumors. When the two roles are cast, the actors will start filming in late July.

What do you think about the characters Y&R is hoping to bring to the canvas? Any ideas how they could be connected to current storylines? We want to hear from you -- so drop your comments in the Comments section below, tweet about it on Twitter, share it on Facebook, or chat about it on our Message Boards.
