Kelly Sullivan says goodbye to Y&R: RIP Sage

The Young and the Restless' Kelly Sullivan (Sage Warner) bids farewell to Genoa City and thanks fans for their support.

Fans of The Young and the Restless were delivered quite a blow on Friday's episode when Kelly Sullivan's alter ego, Sage, was killed in a horrific car crash just as she was about to tell Nick (Joshua Morrow) that their baby, Christian, is alive and living as Sharon (Sharon Case) and Dylan's (Steve Burton) baby, Sully. The unfortunate twist of fate means the shocking secret will stay hidden -- at least for the time being -- and Sullivan will no longer be a part of Genoa City happenings.

"RIP Sage," the actress wrote on Twitter, simultaneously bidding farewell to the character and confirming her departure from the CBS soap. "It was such an amazing run! Thank you to the fans for all your love and support. And thank you to my Y&R family."

Though the weekend was filled with Daytime Emmy events that kept her co-stars busy, many took the time to express their support of Sullivan and their thoughts about her exit.

New mom Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman) wrote, "Can't say enough about @KellySullivanNY. You are so kind, funny, incredibly talented, beautiful... Love you!!!"

Meanwhile, Emmy nominee Justin Hartley (Adam Newman) shared, "What a pleasure it was to work with @KellySullivanNY. Such a pro. Funny and really good too. Hope to get that chance again."

Though Y&R fans will no longer see Sullivan in Genoa City, they can look forward to seeing her in an upcoming Lifetime film title The Stranger Inside.
