Oscar nominee Sally Kellerman joins Y&R

The Young and the Restless has cast Oscar-nominated actress Sally Kellerman for a mysterious new role.

Hot on the heels of its successful casting of Meredith Baxter (Maureen Russell), The Young and the Restless has returned to the so-called "stunt casting" well. Oscar-nominated actress Sally Kellerman has been tapped for a mysterious role set to first appear on-screen during November Sweeps.

Kellerman, known for playing the role of "Hot Lips" O'Houlihan in the 1970 film version of M*A*S*H, will play Constance Bingham.

In a casting call released last month, Constance was described as "a sweet and old fashion grandmother who, is active and alert even though she's in a wheelchair." Y&R noted in the casting call that it wanted a "name" actress for the part.

In addition to her work in M*A*S*H, Kellerman has made dozen of guest appearances in primetime and appeared in numerous motion pictures.

Kellerman reports to work on October 8, but the actress won't be on-screen for long. Her appearance is scheduled to last just five episodes.
