Terrell Tilford cast as Y&R's Barton

One Life to Live and Guiding Light vet Terrell Tilford has been cast as Dr. Barton on The Young and the Restless. Tilford is also well known for a role in the primetime soap, Single Ladies.

The Young and the Restless has hired soap vet Terrell Tilford for the role of Leslie's husband, Dr. Barton.

Tilford most recently appeared as Dr. Greg Evans on One Life to Live from June 2009 through November 2010. Prior to that, he enjoyed a three-year run as David Grant on Guiding Light.

Primetime viewers may also recognize Tilford as Sean Clarke from the VH1 primetime soap Single Ladies. The series aired for three seasons but was canceled earlier this year by VH1. It was subsequently announced that the cable network Centric had reached a deal to resurrect the series. No further details about cast members or production schedule have been disclosed.

Tilford and his wife, actress Victoria Platt, are expecting their first child later this year. The couple made the announcement in a video posted on Facebook.

In a casting call released in April, Barton was described as "an African-American doctor in his late 30s to early 40s, handsome, intelligent, and a highly capable surgeon."

Tilford will report to the Y&R set for the first time on May 13. He'll first appear on-screen on June 13. The role is recurring.

UPDATE:Tilford will also begin previews for The Antaeus Company's world premiere production of The Curse of Oedipus on Sunday, June 15. Tilford appears as Oedipus, and the show runs through August 10. For more information, click here.
