TV vet Ray Wise to play Y&R cult leader

The Young and the Restless is delving further into Nikki's past. The show has cast a veteran actor as a cult leader who Nikki knew around the time that she became pregnant with her until-recently long-lost son, Dylan.

The Young and the Restless has cast TV vet Ray Wise in the newly created recurring role of cult leader Ian Ward.

In Y&R storyline, Nikki met Ian more than 30 years ago during her time at the New World Commune. Though it wasn't mentioned in story until recently, Nikki became pregnant and gave birth to a boy, who later was revealed to be Dylan McAvoy.

Wise has appeared in numerous television projects, including 24, Chuck, How I Met Your Mother, Reaper, and Twin Peaks. He also has an expansive film career as well.

This will not be his first stop in daytime. In 1982, Wise appeared as Hal Rummley on NBC's Days of our Lives. Wise also had a recurring role in the primetime soaps, The Colbys, Dallas, and Knots Landing.

TVLine, which first reported Wise's hiring, reveals that the actor will tape his first scenes on December 13. Those scenes will be broadcast on January 23.

How will Ian Ward fit into the canvas? Is he Dylan's father -- or is this just a red herring? Share your thoughts in the Comments section of this page or click here to send us Feedback.
