With Debbi Morgan signing on to appear on The Young and the Restless, fans have been abuzz about which character she might play. Morgan has stepped forward to issue a statement assuring fans that she will not be playing the role of Drucilla Winters, played previously by Morgan's close friend, Victoria Rowell.
As first reported last week, Debbi Morgan (Angie Hubbard, All My Children) will join the cast of The Young and the Restless later this year. Since Morgan's addition to the Y&R canvas was announced, many fans have started to offer their own theories on who the Emmy-winning actress will play. While Morgan doesn't offer any details on her new character, she does set the record straight about who she won't be playing.
"As we get closer to my joining the show, which won't be until September, I will fill you in on who and what my new character is," Morgan stated on her official web site. [F]or those who have speculated about the possibility of my taking over the role of Drucilla Winters, played by the wonderfully talented Victoria Rowell, I can tell you absolutely not! No way... no how!"
Rowell appeared as Drucilla Winters from March 1990 to August 2000, and then again from August 2002 to April 6, 2007
"Ms. Rowell has put her stamp on the role of Drucilla, and I know her fans would be outraged to see me or any other actress come in and try to take her place," Morgan added. "I wouldn't even attempt to go there. As far as I'm concerned Victoria Rowell is simply irreplaceable as Drucilla.
