Cobb exiting Y&R, possibly headed back to AMC

Though the news has yet to be confirmed by a show spokesperson, Soap Central has learned that Keith Hamilton Cobb (Damon Porter) will be exiting the show later this month.Cobb's addition to the Y&R cast in 2003 was seen as a major casting coup for the show. ABC had reportedly wanted to have Cobb return to All My Children to portray Noah Keefer, a role he held with the show from 1994 to 1996. However, Cobb's primetime work schedule for the syndicated series, Andromeda, prevented him for making the return. While Cobb was wildly popular during his stay on All My Children, his character on The Young and the Restless was met with a lukewarm reception by viewers. Many viewers accused the show of using Cobb to fill a void left when Shemar Moore (Malcolm Winters) left the show. Moore subsequently returned and Cobb's on-screen time seemed to wane."The writers have an exciting story planned and Keith's appeal and talent make him an ideal choice for this character" said Barbara Bloom, Senior Vice President, Daytime Programs, CBS Television when Cobb's addition to the Y&R cast was announced in 2003.With Cobb exiting The Young and the Restless, it did not take long for rumors to begin circulating that the actor might be headed back to All My Children. Adding to the speculation is word that Cobb's former on-screen wife, Sydney Penny (Julia Santos) signed a deal to take her back to AMC. However, an AMC spokesperson has since revealed that there is no intention to bring Noah back to the show's canvas at this time.Cobb will make his final appearance on May 23rd.
