On The Young and the Restless, viewers may notice that some characters are sporting a new look in episodes that begin airing as of Monday, November 18. No, it’s not the Restless Style reboot (although a freshly-unemployed Billy (Jason Thompson) and Lily (Christel Khalil) collaboration for that might not be a bad idea!)
Iconic costume designer Mandi Line has joined the show to lend her expertise. Line is a recipient of the Costume Designer’s Guild Award and CAFTCAD (Canadian Alliance of Film and Television Costume Arts and Design). Line’s talent was seen when she worked on the series “Pretty Little Liars,” “Shameless,” “Death and Other Details” and “The Bold Type.”
“There was one world in 30 years of my career I hadn’t conquered, and that was soaps! When I got the call I thought, ‘Yep! This is where I’m meant to be.’ After my first fitting with Melody Thomas Scott [Nikki, Y&R] I knew I was home, feeling excited and grateful to bring what I do best to Genoa City,” Line said via CBS about joining Y&R.
Line graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), and began her career designing music videos, red carpet appearances, and independent films. She has worked with Kirsten Dunst, Mandy Moore, Lucy Hale, and such rock groups as Linkin Park and Korn.

Line became the head costume designer for the ABC Family series “Greek.” While working on “Pretty Little Liars,” Line collaborated with the brand Aéropostale to launch a show-based apparel collection. Her other TV credits include CW’s “Charmed,” “BH90210” on Fox, Lifetime’s “Unreal” (Pilot), and “Travelers” on Netflix.
In addition to television and the music industry, Line has been the costume designer of over 26 films. Her work has been featured in Cosmopolitan, Us Weekly, The New York Times Style Section, InStyle, and OK Magazines.
Fans may recognize Line from the popular Instagram Live show and podcast “Convos with Costume Designers,” which she created and produced in March 2020. The show has featured over 50 interviews with Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning Costume Designers.
