The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) shared a video today of the devastating remains of the site of his home after the Pacific Palisades fire tore through the neighborhood earlier this month.

Eric Braeden, who famously plays Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless, was one of the thousands who lost his home in the fires that ripped through his Pacific Palisades community earlier this month. He had shared a video of the impending doom the night of the fire on his social media, noting that he was “saying good bye” to his home where he and his wife, Dale, had lived and raised their family for over four decades.

Braeden was devastated by the loss. He had given some updates online but also went to the neighborhood in person for the first time with Kevin Frazier, co-host of Entertainment Tonight. There, Braeden was overwhelmed by the site. He hoped that his family didn’t watch the interview.
Braeden had explained that he hadn’t yet seen it in person and had only witnessed the shocking sight by a video that cast mate and friend Joshua Morrow (Nicholas Newman, Y&R) had gone over in the days after the fire and had sent to him at his request to confirm his home was gone. Braeden had been prepared, or so he thought, of what to expect. But once he stood in his driveway and saw the utter destruction firsthand, he broke down.
Braeden has shared updates since then, as fans have been gravely concerned and wished they could do something to make it better. He has also been vocal in TV interviews and shared in another video that there is a misconception of the neighborhood as a lap of luxury, as though the people there didn’t share the same losses as someone who was somewhere else. Braeden passionately noted that the area was built by veterans who received the GI Bill after WWII, and while some celebrities now live there, it shouldn’t be conflated — people who work in his industry earn, on average, about $50,000/year.
Yesterday, Braeden shared photos of the “before” shots of his home on his Instagram account. He pointed out the living room that was no longer there. The streets were still soaked from the rain that came down yesterday in the video he posted as he did a quiet walk-thru of the property, starting from the driveway and where the garage was, through the remains of the house, and to the backyard. Fans of Braeden will recall seeing him working out many times with a punching bag that used to hang in the garage.
