Happy New Year! On Wednesday, January 1st, an encore presentation of the classic episode #8361 from April 6, 2006, will air. In the episode, Sharon confronts Phyllis about her affair with Nick, Jack deals with a crisis at Jabot, and Victoria keeps a secret from Brad.

What to expect on The Young and the Restless

When Mariah (Camryn Grimes) turned up at Society to spend New Year’s Eve with Tessa (Cait Fairbanks), she got the shock of her life. As she walked to the entrance, she spotted her wife sitting outside in the cold, with a man tending to her. Mariah realized Tessa was in distress but didn’t know she had been drugged. Meanwhile, the man looked up at her, and their eyes met. To Mariah’s absolute horror, she realized the man was Ian Ward (Ray Wise).

Mariah demands to know what is wrong with Tessa and what Ian has done to her. She’s blown away that he’s even out of prison, and as Nick and Faith arrive, Mariah wants answers. Ian can act casually, knowing he’s out legally and able to roam Genoa City as he sees fit. He simply was helping someone in need, nothing more…right?

Mariah loses her cool. She’s overwhelmed by feeling the need to protect Tessa, and she is in shock at the sight of Ian. On Thursday, Mariah is haunted by her past when she finds it in front of her face — and Tessa meets a side of Mariah she didn’t know existed.

Sharon is missing

Surprising everyone, Sharon (Sharon Case) was up to celebrating New Year’s Eve in a public way. She got ready to go to Society with her daughters, but Nick (Joshua Morrow) was wary. Knowing there was a murderer on the loose, Nick didn’t think Sharon should go at all, but eventually agreed to join them. However, Faith (Reylynn Caster) and Nick wanted to say Happy New Year’s to Nikki and Victor first, so Sharon drove alone.

As the clocks struck midnight, Sharon arrived at Society. But as soon as she stepped out of the car, Jordan (Colleen Zenk) covered her mouth with a chloroform rag, and she fainted as Jordan took her away.

When Nick and Faith arrive at Society, they find Mariah with Ian Ward, of all people. Distracted by helping Tessa and being confronted with Ian’s presence, there’s a lot of chaos and commotion. But then, they realize Sharon isn’t there. On Thursday, Nick makes a shocking discovery. Does he find Sharon’s car? Are her keys on the ground next to it, indicating something has happened?

Elsewhere in Genoa City

At the jazz club, the New Year’s celebrations continue. While Lauren (Tracey Bregman) and Jack (Peter Bergman) put on their boogie shoes, Michael (Christian LeBlanc) and Diane (Susan Walters) have a chance to talk privately.

Meanwhile, after making her rounds and letting her displeasure be known, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) promised her kids that she wouldn’t embarrass them at the party. Phyllis went upstairs before midnight, and Daniel (Michael Graziadei) and Summer (Allison Lanier) assumed she was just cooling off and would come back. But does she? On Thursday, Jordan targets a new victim — what is she up to now?
