The Young and the Restless Michelle Stafford shares BTS of Phyllis' car crash

On The Young and the Restless’ 13,000th episode, while everyone was at Abby and Devon’s wedding at the Newman ranch, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) was run off the road nearby.

There was a loud crash, and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) went to investigate. What he found was Phyllis bleeding and unconscious in a burning car. It was a tense scene for viewers as they watched Nick and Chance (Conner Floyd) save Phyllis from the wreck.

But Michelle Stafford, who plays Phyllis, had been filming that day from her point of view. Now that the epic episodes have aired, she shared some behind-the-scenes videos. Needless to say, things were much more humorous off-camera than they were on the screen.

The Young and the Restless car crash

On her Instagram account, Michelle Stafford shared a video of herself from inside the car before they began filming.

She captioned: “In the meantime…. While everybody was at the wedding…. Phyllis,beaten up, in a car…alone. 😂 Happy to be a part of the 13,000 #YR Congratulations on this milestone #YR ❤️ I’ll have more for you tomorrow, I just don’t wanna give away story. Y’all are gonna have to wait.”

“It’s just me alone in the car. This is the magic of TV making,” Stafford said. She showed the set outside of the car, it looked like nighttime with trees around her. “I’m glad that I’m not afraid,” she added.

Phyllis was run off the road and crashed

The next day, viewers saw Phyllis post-crash, unconscious in the car. Stafford posted another video showing the fire outside of her car caused by the crash.

“I’m not going to lie. It’s a little daunting,” Michelle Stafford said with a smile.

She showed the fire, noting that it was close. “And they’re laughing out there,” she added. Stafford turned the camera to Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman) and Chance (Conner Floyd). “Look at those dudes over there. Do I trust them? Do I trust them to save me?” she asked. She started to laugh when Morrow gave her the thumbs up.

Phyllis was rushed to the hospital

At GC Memorial, Phyllis was unconscious. Her children, Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) and Summer Newman (Allison Lanier), rushed to be by their mother’s side while Dr. Elena Dawson (Brytny Sarpy) attended as the doctor on duty. Chance made it to the hospital room and suggested that Phyllis may have been run off the road.

Michelle Stafford had to lay quietly while the actors practiced their lines, but when Elena poked her head into the room to say that someone was coming to take Phyllis for a CT scan, she saw Stafford filming and gave her the peace sign. The actors cracked up and Stafford added her own thumbs up.

After filming, Graziadei, Sarpy, and Stafford left the building to get a coffee. Stafford remained in costume and filmed the whole time for the reactions she received.
