The Young and the Restless star, Eric Braeden (Victor Newman), returned to the site of his Pacific Palisades home with Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier to see what was left after fires ripped through the area and decimated his neighborhood.
Devastation for star of The Young and the Restless
“I’m devastated. All the memories. I don’t want my family to see this,” Braeden said emotionally after breaking down at the sight of what used to be his home. He shared how he’d seen a lot of coverage on TV over the last few days but never imagined how it would feel in person.

Growing up in WWII in Germany, The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden said they were bombed every day, and it was a different situation, but the destruction was the same. The hillside behind his Pacific Palisades house is part of Will Rogers State Historic Park, and he considered that if it had ever caught fire, the flames could jump to his property. For 45 years, it hadn’t happened, “but now it did,” Braeden said. He had shared a video on Instagram of the fire nearing his backyard prior to evacuating with just passports, some pictures, and papers.
Braeden had heard that his home had completely burned down but hadn't seen it for himself. Costar and friend Joshua Morrow, who plays Braeden’s son Nicholas Newman on The Young and the Restless, had gone in the days prior to check the damage for Braeden. That was how he first saw a video of the home, but seeing it in person was more impactful than he had anticipated.
“You see all these news coverages of all these people losing their homes. I understand now. It’s such a feeling of loss, man. Indescribable. It leaves you totally disoriented,” Braeden explained. “You’ve got to rebuild. You’ve GOT to rebuild,” he added firmly, pumping his fists.
Y&R Stars: Updates, Support, and Requests
While some have already lost everything, and others are in the clear, the fires are at the mercy of returning winds and endangering Southern California.
The Young and the Restless star Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra) checked in after a frightening experience at her parents’ home. Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher) also reported that he and his family were safe.
Many Y&R stars and alum, as well as those from their sister show, The Bold and the Beautiful, have been consistently sharing information on their social media on how to get (and give) support, supplies, clothing, and food to the thousands displaced by the fires.
Several have been requesting assistance from their stage manager, friend, and colleague, Herbie Weaver and his family. They lost everything in the Eaton fire and have been sharing links to a GoFundMe page to raise money for him. Herbie Weaver has been a stage manager for both The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful.
Soap Central continues to share concern and support for all those who have been affected by the fires.
