The Young and the Restless' Eric Braeden's home threatened by L.A. fires

On The Young and the Restless, Eric Braeden famously plays Victor Newman. The actor shared some of his real-life drama today by showing how close to his home the L.A. fires were burning — and his concern that the fire may engulf his house.

The Young and the Restless star posted a video showing the fires burning near his home. The fire is visible and too close for comfort, with the orange glow making an eerie reflection in his pool as the Santa Ana winds fan the flames. You can hear someone in the background telling him that they have “taken all of the inside.” “Right,” Braden responds.

Braeden captioned the video: “Behind my house! The worst EVER in LA!”

Castmates and friends were quick to respond like long-time coworker Lauralee Bell (Christine Williams) telling him to be safe. Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher) wrote, “Thinking about you and your family, Eric, and hoping you’re all safe.”

Maurice Benard, who plays Sonny Corinthos on ABC’s General Hospital, said, “That’s terrible Eric you OK” to which Braeden responded, “hello, MAURICE, nice to hear from you! I‘ll know tomorrow of we still have a house!” Braeden also responded to Melissa Ordway, who plays Braeden’s on-screen daughter, Abby Newman on The Young and the Restless. She let him know she was thinking of him and praying, and he sent back hugs to her.

Thousands of others have responded to his post, with the majority urging him to evacuate to safety and all wishing him well. Braeden’s castmate Courtney Hope, who plays Sally Spectra on The Young and the Restless, also posted a video of the fires and smoke during the day and what looks like driving through the sea of cars seemingly evacuating with the fires in the background.

From sister show, The Bold and the Beautiful, Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan) posted a photo earlier in the day showing the orange plumes of smoke in the air. “Oh no…” she wrote on the picture. Since then, tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from Pacific Palisades, with many leaving their vehicles abandoned on the gridlocked roads to flee on foot.

By evening, approximately 3000 acres were burning out of control through the hillsides, with new fires being added to the list and more than 10,000 homes threatened. Overnight, Malibu has also been given evacuation orders. According to the California Department of Transportation, the Pacific Coast Highway was completely shut down near Topanga Canyon Boulevard.
