"Scares the living daylights out you, and you hope the flames don’t cross,” Braeden shared with host Laura Coates. He said there was a canyon below him that had fires before but it never came across to his side. The winds, this time, blew the fire toward his neighborhood, and they needed to evacuate.

He said that he and his neighbors stayed in touch and tried to keep each other informed as to whether or not they lost their homes. They didn’t have any video confirmation — until this morning. Joshua Morrow, who plays Braeden’s on-screen son Nichols Newman on The Young and the Restless, “broke through some barriers” and went to the cul-de-sac where Braeden had lived and confirmed with video that their homes had burned down. “I haven’t shown my wife yet. Not sure I’m going to. It’s tough,” Braeden said.

“The house can be rebuilt, but everything you’ve gathered over the years [cannot],” Braeden added. He said he had lived in the area for 60 years.

Melissa Claire Egan’s new home devastation

Braeden’s castmate, Melissa Claire Egan, who plays Chelsea Lawson on The Young and the Restless share her heartbreak on Instagram yesterday as well.

Egan thanked everyone for reaching out, and let them know that she and her family were safe. “All that matters,” she wrote.

“But we just bought a house in the Palisades 2 weeks ago that’s now destroyed. We hadn’t moved in yet, but it’s gone. We are just grateful our babies are safe, but we are devastated and this is all so horrific. Grateful to all the incredible first responders,” Egan shared.

Kate Linder (Esther Valentine) shared on her Instagram, “I so appreciate everyone that has reached out. I was evacuated but was able to return home. I am so grateful I have a home to return to. So many people I know have lost everything. Linder included a video of one of her friend's homes that was burned. "I am so grateful to all of you ! So grateful to all of our first responders, all of the brave fire departments that are continuing to fight to protect us,” she added.

Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra) had checked in that she was safe but later had to evacuate to her parent’s home in Calabasas. The area they were in then took a turn and she posted photos and videos of her dad dousing the property with water from the pool as they watched the orange clouds move in closer over a nearby hill. Planes could be seen in the background dumping water on the fires. She posted later that they were all safe and thanked the firemen who were tirelessly working to help them all.
