During his tenure at The Young and the Restless, Salmon won the Daytime Emmy Award in 2022 for Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, an award he shared with Nancy Nayor. He also was nominated with Sheila Guthrie in 2018 and 2019, and shared a nomination with Nancy Nayor in 2020 as well. Salmon and Judy Wilson also shared a 2015 nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Casting - Daytime Drama Series at the Casting Society of America’s Artios Awards.
A member of the Casting Society of America, Salmon has also worked as a casting associate on Law & Order and as a casting assistant on All My Children, the now-defunct soap on ABC. While there, Salmon worked with casting legend Judy Blye Wilson. When the series was canceled in 2011, both Salmon and Wilson moved to Y&R, where Salmon has been an associate casting director since.
Casting for The Young and the Restless
Although Greg Salmon has been responsible for many of the cast members on the show, his most recent announcement was for the hiring of Nathan Owens to play Damian King. Owens made his debut the same week as Salmon’s announcement of his promotion to Casting Director. Owens has joined the cast as the half-brother of Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and the son of Amy Lewis (Valarie Pettiford). He’ll be making his debut on the episode that airs on January 8th.
About his new part, Owens was as tight-lipped as his new character. He reiterated that Damian was a man of mystery. “He plays a very delicate role in this scenario, and he’s a very mysterious guy. He holds his cards close to the vest and he keeps things tight,” Owens teased.
