On The Young and the Restless, Nathan Owens has joined the cast as Damian, the half-brother of Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), and the son of Amy Lewis (Valarie Pettiford). He’ll be making his debut on tomorrow’s episode, on January 8th.
Nathan Owens on The Young and the Restless
Nathan Owens isn’t new to soaps. He previously appeared as Cameron Davis on Days of our Lives, but it was over a decade ago. As he shared in an interview with TV Insider, the gap gave him some nerves about rejoining the world of soaps and for good reason. “I’m not going to lie to you. I was a bit nervous. I know the speed at which the soaps move, so the preparation is key,” Owens explained.

Owens was on DAYS for just one year but has been acting ever since on TV and in movies, such as starring in series like Devious Maids and Batwoman series. Still, the soap genre experience was one he could tap into for his new role on The Young and the Restless. He told TV Insider, “I think my time there really gave me better insight going forward about preparing and focusing and having discipline to make sure that you’re there and professional and a good scene partner. It really gave me a lot of tools for the rest of my acting career, not just in soaps. And I made some really good friends.”
Making Y&R friends
Owens didn’t walk onto the set of The Young and the Restless as a complete stranger. He recently starred in a Christmas movie called The Christmas Sitters with a Y&R castmate, Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman) and her husband, Justin Gaston, who once played Y&R’s Chance. “That was a cool little surprise when I showed up on set and I got to see her,” Owens added.
There’s another cast member he knows from working on Days of our Lives, Eileen Davidson, who plays Ashley Abbott on Y&R and was Kristen DiMera on DAYS. Owens said he hadn’t run into her yet but was looking forward to seeing her.
As for the show’s cast and crew that he had met so far, Owens said that he felt at home from the very first day. “I shook a lot of hands, met a lot of different people. Everyone was incredibly warm. From the point I parked, I really didn’t know where to go, and I ran into one of the makeup artists, Amanda [Goldstein]. She literally walked me to where I needed to go. Everyone was very kind and inviting. That’s what really stood out to me, the warmth from everybody. The folks that I got to work with on day one were amazing. Sean Dominic [Nate Hastings] is one of them and he was great,” Owens shared.
About his new part, Owens was as tight-lipped as his new character. He reiterated that Damian was a man of mystery. “He plays a very delicate role in this scenario, and he’s a very mysterious guy. He holds his cards close to the vest and he keep things tight,” Owens teased.
