On The Young and the Restless, Phyllis Summer has been through a lot in the last six months. Not really one to cry over spilled milk, we’ve seen a lot of tears from Phyllis (and understandably so). However, actress Michelle Stafford, who plays Phyllis, showed fans that she was having a lot of laughs behind the scenes.

Behind the scenes of The Young and the Restless

Michelle Stafford’s character on The Young and the Restless was recently kidnapped and held in an abandoned asylum with Sharon (Sharon Case). Just as the situation turns dangerously dire, they were rescued, but it had been an intense couple of weeks for the pair as they were being held by a “psycho playing a game,” and they had no idea who it was or what they wanted.

On her Instagram, Stafford shared a video of what was happening outside the door when Phyllis and Sharon were about to be saved by Nick (Joshua Morrow), Billy (Jason Thompson), and Chance (Conner Floyd). Despite the drama the viewers got to see, the cast was all smiles. “So that’s a wrap of that story. These are my beautiful friends that I love so much and get to work with everyday,” she commented.

Floyd responded with a heart emoji, and Thompson remarked, “The best job with the best people in the world.” Kate Linder (Esther Valentine) added, “Absolutely fabulous,” and Y&R’s stylist Mandi Line chimed in warmly, “I love my cast!”

After Phyllis and Sharon were rescued and returned home, Phyllis met with her kids, Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) and Summer Newman (Allison Lanier).

Stafford posted another video of her running lines with Graziadei and Lanier in her dressing room. While they were joking and laughing while practicing, she also showed the final cut, in character, at the Athletic Club. Stafford quipped in her caption, “Where it started… and how it ended❤️❤️ with my TV babies @goodgriefcharliebrown & @allisonvlanier #theprocess #actorsprepare #seriousbusiness #clearlyanymonkeycandothis

Lanier responded, “Lollllll. My favorite part about the job, working with you two.” Stafford added that she “tried to bleep the nasty words.”

Fans enjoyed seeing both sides of the process, with erinhsumnerrealtor commenting, “Love this!!! Please Keep posting!” IG user louisaschaefer9696 added, “The rehearsal THEN the actual scene BRILLIANT.”

And that’s a wrap

Stafford had also posted a photo from that day, although at the time, viewers of The Young and the Restless didn’t know they were about to be rescued and their favorite men were waiting for them on the other side of the door.

Showing a picture of Sharon and Phyllis on the couch of the asylum apartment, Stafford commented, “This was one of the most unique, challenging and funnest experiences I’ve ever had on Y&R. I’ve had so many great experiences with so many great actors and storylines on this show for sure.. This one is up there at the top! ❤️❤️❤️ “Case agreed, “Yes!!!! For me too!!! It was all of that!! 👯‍♀️❤️❤️”

What comes next for Sharon and Phyllis on The Young and the Restless remains to be seen, but given the intense six months they have had with back-to-back kidnappings and other family drama, we’re sure the end of this storyline is just the beginning of something exciting.

Watch The Young and the Restless weekdays on CBS or stream on Paramount Plus.
