DVR Alerts! Programming will be disrupted on Tuesday, January 7th for some of our favorite soaps as news coverage will be following the funeral of the 39th President of the United States and Nobel Peace Prize Recipient, Jimmy Carter.
In the morning on the East Coast, a ceremony will mark Carter’s final departure from the Carter Center in Atlanta. His family will then travel with his body to Washington, first flying to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, arriving at 12:45 p.m. A motorcade will then take them to the U.S. Navy Memorial to recognize Carter’s military service. At 2 p.m., President Carter will be transferred to a horse-drawn military wagon as part of a procession to the U.S. Capitol in Washington. At the Capitol, Carter will lie in state, with a 3 p.m. service scheduled for lawmakers to pay their respects. News coverage throughout the events will interrupt scheduled programming.
We will update the information as soon as we know of any changes, but currently, we know the following:
The Young and the Restless
Depending on the time, some airings of The Young and the Restless may be interrupted to cover the arrival of President Carter at the U.S. Capitol building’s rotunda.

The Bold and the Beautiful
The Bold and the Beautiful may be fully or partially pre-empted on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, for CBS News funeral coverage.
General Hospital
ABC opted to pre-empt Tuesday’s episode of General Hospital to cover President Carter’s arrival at the U.S. Capitol, and an encore episode will be played for the West Coast. An all-new episode will air on Wednesday, January 8th.
Days of our Lives
As the episodes of Days of our Lives are streamed only on Peacock, the episodes and schedule are not affected.
On Thursday, January 9th, 2025, some scheduled programming will most likely also be affected as the late president’s procession will head to Washington National Cathedral for a national funeral service at 10 a.m. The funeral is expected to end by 11:15 a.m., at which point the family will accompany the coffin back to Joint Base Andrews to fly to Georgia. Once back in Georgia, a motorcade will drive to a private service. There will be a Navy ceremonial flyover before Jimmy Carter is laid to rest later in the afternoon.
Additional information, if provided by the networks, will be shared as soon as we are advised. Recaps for those whose episodes are pre-empted can be viewed on our site.
