Devon and Abby’s surprise wedding on The Young and the Restless

On The Young and the Restless, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) have been meticulously planning their “dream wedding.” Now, the day is almost here and full of surprises.

Abby wanted the day to coincide with the return of her mom, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). Additionally, they chose Abby's birthday as their wedding date.

With every detail considered, Abby thought all the plans were in place for her perfect day. However, the couple was thrown a curveball when the venue had to cancel their reservation. Devon explained to Abby that there was a crack in the foundation, and the venue had closed indefinitely for repairs.

With just weeks to go and all other options seemingly booked, Abby had a brief bridezilla moment but quickly regained her composure for two reasons. First, she realized how she sounded and assured Devon that she would marry him in a shack if needed. Second, she found a solution to the problem.

Daddy Knows Best on The Young and the Restless

When Abby told her dad, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), the distressing news about her venue cancelation, he instantly had the solution. Victor told Abby and Devon not to worry — he knew of the perfect location and said he would handle all the details.

From wedding guests to caterers, Victor told Abby and Devon that he would ensure that everyone expected to be part of the wedding would know where to watch the nuptials.

The only catch was that Victor wouldn’t disclose that information to anyone, including the bride and groom. Despite their attempts to get Victor to share the details, he wants to surprise his daughter and her fiancee.

Victor said Abby and Devon would find out where they were getting married on their wedding day. In other words, the wedding details would be revealed to the bride and groom at the same time as the viewers.

Here Comes The Bride

Fans have been offered some hints about Abby and Devon’s upcoming wedding. Eric Braeden posted behind-the-scenes pictures on X (formerly Twitter) account, captioned as “A little break while filming.” In the photo, he had his arms around Melody Thomas Scott, who plays his on-screen wife Nikki Newman, and Amelia Heinle, who plays his daughter Victoria Newman.

In another post, Braeden complimented his co-stars, Christel Khalil (Lily Winters), and the bride, Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman-Abbott), as “such good actresses!!”

As for the groom, Braeden’s X post revealed a picture with Bryton James (Devon Hamilton-Winters), and he captioned it with a nod to a beloved former co-star. “A great colleague! Chip of the old block, KRISTOFF,” Braeden wrote of James.

The Wedding Guests

While viewers can expect to see Devon and Abby's friends and family, there may be some surprises.

Abby has coordinated the wedding to be the same as the return date for her mother, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). Traci Abbott has returned to the United States from Paris and plans to visit Genoa City for the nuptials.

Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) has informed her son Billy (Jason Thompson) that she plans to be a guest at the wedding and issued an ultimatum and gave strict orders to be completed before she returns.

Devon has become closer to his cousin, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), and he will most likely be at the nuptials. However, he was recently contacted by a woman from his father’s past, Amy Lewis (Valarie Pettiford). Will she make an ill-timed appearance at the wedding?

Will there be a crossover on The Young and the Restless?

As for other surprises, past weddings have created a crossover event from Y&R’s sister show, The Bold and the Beautiful. Although nothing has been announced, we may have seen a hint of a possible crossover.

Set photos were released this week of B&B’s Don Diamont (Bill Spencer, B&B; ex-Brad Carlton, Y&R) with his on-screen son, Will Spencer. Will is played by Crew Morrow, son of Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman, Y&R). The three men were photographed together on the set of The Bold and the Beautiful on a day when Crew and Joshua did a joint interview between filming.

However, it was notable that Joshua was dressed in a tux and was most likely filming scenes from the wedding that day. It might be wishful thinking, but given the sets are just down the hall from one another, it is possible that Bill and Will Spencer are guests at the wedding.
