On The Young and the Restless, New Year’s is starting off on a dangerous foot for Sharon (Sharon Case) when she’s knocked out and taken by Jordan (Colleen Zenk). But where has she taken her, and why?

It was New Year’s Eve, and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) was working at Society. Mariah (Camryn Grimes) planned on meeting her wife to celebrate and hoped to be there by midnight. She stopped by Sharon’s first to see how her mom was doing. Faith (Reylynn Caster) didn’t make plans as she wanted to stay with Sharon.

However, Sharon was doing more than fine. Sharon didn’t even want to stay home; she felt so good that she wanted to go out with her girls and celebrate. While Sharon went upstairs to get ready, Nick (Joshua Morrow) came over, and Mariah shared how her mom seemed “back to normal.”

Nick didn’t think it was a good idea for Sharon to go out. He knew the real killer was on the loose, and she could possibly identify them, making her a target. But Mariah thought as Sharon would be with her and Faith, she would be safe in the restaurant, and Nick reluctantly agreed. However, that’s not how things went down.

At the jazz club, the party was in full swing to celebrate the new year. Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), Daniel (Michael Graziadei), and Summer (Allison Lanier) were there to try and have a good time, but surrounded by Michael (Christian LeBlanc), Christine (Lauralee Bell), Diane (Susan Walters), and their friends and family had Phyllis in a foul mood.

Ironically, it had been Sharon who was telling off Phyllis and her family prior to Heather’s death, but since then, it’s been Phyllis who is making the public scenes and attacks, and New Year’s Eve was no exception. Phyllis made the rounds, stopping at each table to let them know her resentment and anger.

A few minutes before midnight, Phyllis left to clear her head and get a better attitude upstairs so she wouldn’t do anything else to embarrass her kids.

Meanwhile, in front of Society, the countdown to midnight had begun as Sharon stepped out of her car. Smiling, Sharon went to hurry inside, but before she could step away from the car, Jordan smothered her face with a cloth, and Sharon passed out into her arms.

At Society, Ian almost had Tessa as well. After poisoning her water bottle, she stumbled outside to get fresh air but couldn’t breathe and collapsed on Ian. He was trying to get her stable when Mariah showed up. Within seconds of realizing her wife was in trouble, Mariah also realized that the man she was with was none other than Ian Ward (Ray Wise).

What happens next

What does Jordan want with Sharon? If she wanted her dead, she wouldn’t have bothered to make her pass out first. Sharon was alone, vulnerable, and an easy target on the street.

It looked like Ian was about to take Tessa, but that was thwarted. Did he see an opportunity with Phyllis instead?

Or is this a setup against Phyllis? Viewers of The Young and the Restless know that Ian and Jordan seem to be taking turns setting up Sharon and framing others, but is it Phyllis’ turn to look guilty of a crime against Sharon?

Phyllis was the only one who was asking the right questions and noticing the right things when Heather died to see that most roads led back to Sharon. With the murder investigation being reopened by the police, it’s only a matter of time before someone on the force can prove that Sharon isn’t the killer. Phyllis has been doing her best to prevent that from happening on her own account, but taking Sharon when Phyllis now seems hellbent on bringing Sharon down could distract the investigation and, once again, point all fingers at one suspect only: Phyllis.

Is that Ian and Jordan’s plan — and is Tessa still in danger? Now that Ian has been seen by Mariah, we can expect him to make another appearance. Only as is usually the case, there is almost always collateral damage left in Ian’s wake.
