What a week it was on The Young and the Restless when one fan favorite returned home while another headed east. Also, Jack Abbott learned that it's okay to change — in more ways than one!
Jack goes home on The Young and the Restless

The big reveal of the redone Abbott mansion finally occurred. We were teased with a preview at the end of Thursday's episode of The Young and the Restless, but Jack and Kyle's full reactions didn't play out until the following day — and what a day it was!
Kyle liked the Abbott home right off the bat. He's lived in other places all his life and doesn't have the extra years of fondness for the home that his father does. So, while Diane appreciated her son's kind words, the reaction she was waiting for was Jack's!
The good news for Jack and Diane is that Jack loved it! Not only did he feel that his home got a tune-up, but he believed that Diane kept the old while bringing in the new. That's no easy feet. Unlike the recently redone Newman Ranch, which is a different structure, there are some differences between the OG ranch and the new one. The biggest difference is that the door is on the other side of the living room and maybe the staircase is a bit smaller.
The Abbott house on The Young and the Restless is a different story. And by different, we mean it's mostly the same. The staircase is in the same place. The structure of the house is the same. The dining room, where the Abbotts have had their famous breakfasts over the decades, is still off to the left after you walk into the living room.
The room is brighter, but it took Jack a few moments to adjust his vision to the lightness. He had worked himself up into thinking that he might not like it. So, it took a few moments to realize he loved it!
The metal rail on the front door remains, which is a good thing. The metal on the glass door hides just enough of who's on the other side so there's some mystery, which always adds to any scene.
Diane anticipated a few of Jack's questions but she answered them to his satisfaction. Understandably, Jack wanted his home to feel familiar — and it does! It's great fun checking out the wide shots of the new set so that we can try to figure out what's the same and what parts have gotten, for lack of a better term, a facelift.
What has changed forever, we have observed, is Diane's place in the Abbott family. She's one of the family now. Jack will never look at Diane the same way. That whole thing about faking her death for a decade or so is always going to be a sticking point but it's clear that Jack and Diane are now stronger than ever.
Abbott Elementary

Billy might never get Abbott Communications off the ground on The Young and the Restless if he can't assemble a team. He's spending a lot of time convincing Phyllis that he doesn't think Daniel is ready to come on board. Conversely, Phyllis is working overtime to convince Billy that Daniel is going to be the company's employee of the month — every month!
This whole dynamic is putting Phyllis at odds with her former nemesis Sally Spectra. Sure, Phyllis and Sharon have taken things down a notch. But Phyllis is this close to going off on Sally. We love watching Sally play things cool, calm, and collected around the fiery Phyllis. Sally's secure in her relationship with Billy. She points out Phyllis's foibles with humor and passion.
A is for Audra

It's fun watching someone be in the driver's seat on The Young and the Restless. And right now, the person in question is Audra Charles. Victor's offered her a sweet deal. She gets to have her own company and all she has to do is take down Kyle. We get the impression that Audra might ruin Kyle for free. In their scenes together, it's clear that Audra has the upper hand. She knows how to push his buttons and keep him off-guard.
Sometimes we can tell when a person has bitten off more than he or she could chew after they enter an unholy alliance. Not Audra. She's just fine. Having said that, she doesn't want to mess up her relationship with Nate. As long as he doesn't find out that Audra has made a deal with Victor that could compromise her integrity, Audra just might emerge as the winner in all of this.
It's fascinating to watch Audra negotiate with Victor. She knows who she's getting into bed with (figuratively, of course). However, Audra may have met her match in Lily. Neil and Dru's daughter is sharp and savvy. She doesn't hesitate to hold Audra accountable for her actions. Lily may be coming around in regards to Damian, however, she's not going to let Audra pull the wool over her eyes.
Health Care

We get that folks have to die on soaps because, well, that's part of life, and death, too. But hasn't Genoa City seen enough dying over the last few years? Sure, Aunt Jordan was never going to be invited over for tea, but she didn't have to go to that great soap in the sky, did she? Frankly, neither does Amy.
She's the glue between the uneasy, at times, dynamic between half-brothers Damian and Nate. Amy could serve as a mother figure to Lily. Plus, Amy's got friends in Genoa City outside of her family including Traci Abbott. And boy, could Traci use a friend about now!
It was bittersweet watching Amy go off to Boston for treatment in a trial clinic accompanied by Nate and Damian. She asked why she couldn't be treated in Genoa City. Hey, that was our question, too! One of two things could happen, moving forward. We hope that Amy returns in a few months or even weeks and shares the news that she's in remission. Then, Amy can reclaim her rightful place in Genoa City; she can act as the matriarch to the Hastings/Winters family.
Heck, soaps need matriarchal figures on them! Amy needs to stick around to dole out no-nonsense advice and lend a supportive ear to those in need. Fingers crossed she comes back to town healthy — and soon!
Love is in the air on The Young and the Restless

We can never get enough romance on The Young and the Restless. The show has made sure that love is in the air in Genoa City. Kyle and Claire are the biggest examples of this. The couple professing their love for one another was sweet and endearing.
As joyful as it is to see young love, we know the couple is headed for potential heartache and certainly some conflict. Claire's grandfather Victor is setting Audra up to come between the duo. As much as Kyle loves Claire, we can't help but notice he seems a bit unnerved by Audra's presence. Our guess is the attraction is still there.
Was Adam truly going to propose to Chelsea over a drink at Society? We weren't sure. It was adorable when Adam got down on one knee and asked Chelsea to be his business partner. Suggestion to Chelsea: when Adam does pop the question for real...say, "Yes!"
The Way We Were

Speaking of old friends coming back, it was a pleasure to see Cole on our screens once again. Imagine if The Young and the Restless had not brought Claire's father back to the canvas when it revealed that Cole and Vicki's baby was alive. It would not have been the same to have shown Vicki doing one-way phone calls explaining to Cole that their baby hadn't died. We needed to have Cole back. But...that cough he has combined with all that international travel has some fearing the worst. Hey, maybe it's just allergies! Amy's not the only one we're rooting for to get well!
How often have we seen on soaps someone lose someone they love and that person moves on a little too quickly? That's not the case with Daniel. He was devasted to lose Heather, who was taken from this mortal plane far too soon. She was a pawn in Ian Ward's plan to take down the Newmans and frame Sharon.
Daniel had to come to terms with Sharon's innocence, but he has. Still, that doesn't mean he's forgotten about Heather. He needs to throw himself into something to help him move forward but that something is not likely going to be Abbott Communications.
One of the fun things about watching soaps is watching unexpected friendships and relationships develop and take off. Daniel doesn't need his mom Phyllis to help him through this particular situation. Instead, he's found a friend in Tessa, a fellow musician. Right now, the two are bonding over a mutual respect for music and Daniel wants to learn how to play the guitar. Will it ever become more than that? Who knows?
