Fans of The Young and the Restless have been wondering about the fate of Nick and Sharon’s daughter Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster). This week, viewers saw Lucy Romalotti and Faith in the hospital after being in a car accident, and some wondered if it meant that Faith would die and that Caster would leave the show.

According to speculation, Faith will not die. Some say that spoilers reveal Faith will heal and leave for college soon, but The Young and the Restless has neither confirmed nor denied that potential plot for the character.

Faith is wounded and in the hospital

Currently, Faith and Lucy remain in the hospital. While Faith has said that she feels okay and is anxious to leave, Lucy is receiving additional testing. Lucy’s father, Daniel Romalotti, said it was just the doctors being overly cautious, but they haven’t done the same for Faith, who was driving the car.

This isn’t Faith’s only near-fatal accident or her family’s first time holding vigil in the hospital. After drinking and driving, Faith was in a car crash a few years ago. Faith nearly died then but received a kidney from Adam Newman. When Lucy’s father, Daniel, was a teen, he was in a car accident that killed Faith’s half-sister, Cassie, although he was not driving. Cassie, who had no license and was underage, had driven the car then because Daniel was passed-out drunk. The previous two events, along with the current one, all weigh heavily on Faith’s mother, Sharon, who is struggling to cope with the stress.

Possible exit signs from The Young and the Restless

Perhaps Faith will be fine and the storyline will not be focused on how the stress is triggering memories of loss for Sharon. It could also be a foreshadowing of something more seriously wrong with Lucy. It could be a little of both.

It is possible that while everyone has been focused on finding out what’s wrong with Sharon and Lucy, no one noticed that Faith has internal injuries that have been overlooked. If that were the case, it would be a shocking death for everyone in Genoa City, and it would send many characters reeling in grief.

One would think that since Faith is a kidney recipient, extra care and testing would be done. Still, it hasn’t been mentioned as an issue other than in conversations amongst family and friends as a reminder to viewers of her previous accident. Is it a hint that there is more to Faith’s injuries than meets the eye? Neither the show nor actor Reylynn Caster has said either way.

Unless Faith tragically does die, or she leaves the hospital and goes to college, viewers have no choice but to wait and see which way the show will drive this story.

The Young and the Restless can be enjoyed weekdays on CBS.
