Is Brytni Sarpy’s Elena Dawson returning to The Young and the Restless?

On The Young and the Restless, Brytni Sarpy originated and played the role of Dr. Elena Dawson in 2019. Although she has remained in the show credits, Elena hasn’t been seen in Genoa City since early spring.

Elena had caught her boyfriend, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), having a fling with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). She dumped Nate but didn’t like seeing him out and about with Victoria. Brokenhearted, Elena took a job out of town and left Genoa City.

Now, it seems, Dr. Elena Dawson may be back.

Is Brytni Sarpy visiting or staying on The Young and the Restless?

In an Instagram story Brytni Sarpy posted yesterday, the actress shared photos of herself on The Young and the Restless set. Although she captioned a photo as a visit, there may have been clues of a return.

“Just popping in to say hi to the fam…” the post read, tagging @youngandrestlesscbs. The “wide-eyed” and “shhh” emojis she added had everyone wondering if there was more to it than just a friendly visit.

In another photo, Sarpy was standing in front of a sign that read, “13,000 Episodes!!! Brytini Sarpy, Dr. Elena Dawson. Welcome back — we miss you!!!” Again, Sarpy tagged the Y&R official Instagram account and CBS, as well. She also captioned “missed you too” while making an expression with her hand on her chest.

On November 13, 2024, The Young and the Restless will be airing its 13,000th episode. Sarpy may be back to be part of that historic milestone.

Sarpy’s Instagram story continued with a selfie of Sarpy and Hayley Erin, who plays Claire Newman on The Young and the Restless. The two were also co-stars on General Hospital years ago. “9 years later….Is it…Valerie & Kiki?...Elena & Claire?” was the caption on the photo of the two actresses hugging and smiling.

Is Dr. Elena Dawson back in Genoa City?

There is no official word from the show about Elena’s return. Considering she has never officially left the cast, it is quite possible that she has been written into an upcoming storyline.

Her ex-boyfriend Nate is about to embark on a mystery with Amy Lewis (Valarie Pettiford), who is returning to Genoa City after 40 years. Nate recently received a text message from Amy asking to meet regarding an urgent family matter.

Despite Elena and Nate’s evenutal breakup, Elena was a sound partner for Nate. Whatever this family matter turns out to be, Nate may need someone to confide in or consult for advice—and Elena may be the person to tell him what he needs to hear.

Elena’s other ex, Devon (Bryton James), is planning to marry Abby (Melissa Ordway). Elena could be a guest at their wedding, or perhaps her well-timed return could throw a wrench in the couple making it to the altar.
