Here's your Two Scoops, or mine, anyway, of what happened on The Young and the Restless during the week of December 9, 2024:
This week on The Young and the Restless
What a week on The Young and the Restless when Lily, Abby, and Devon all returned from their trips, and Sharon discovered she had been on one.

Claire took forever to make a decision. Was she going to keep having a reason to drop in on Kyle? Was she going to get free food at Society? Or, was she going to take the opportunity to learn business from her grandmother firsthand as her assistant?
It’s not like she doesn’t already have that experience. She used to work for Nikki just before she kidnapped her and almost had her killed. But that’s so last year. New Claire was offered the job — again — months ago but couldn’t figure out if it was something she wanted or not.
Of course, it was a mildly less appealing offer, given that Claire didn’t know where she’d be working for months. Nikki was just confident that she would be the CEO of Chancellor one day and she’d need a semi-inexperienced assistant, so she asked Claire to give up her plan to go to university and finish her degree, walk away from the career she was loving, and come work for her at an undisclosed location at an unknown time to do something presumably helpful.
Once the details were announced, Claire wasted no time agreeing to the job. But, she had a few little hurdles to overcome.
First, she needed to be aware that her wardrobe sucked. And what better way to tell someone they need to step up their game than to tell them straight up that they don’t look the part they want them to play? As Victoria told her, it was like Cinderella, but she was going to an office and not a ball. Vic and Nik handed Claire her new wardrobe and waited for a fashion show.
What it really means to be Newman
Now that Claire was clear on how she was supposed to look, Victor interrupted Claire’s special day and dismissed the two people hosting it to wipe that smile off his new granddaughter’s face. Claire’s next lesson on being a Newman was two-fold: Victor decides your life, and Victor decides your life. Also, Victor decides your life.
Victor noticed that Claire was about to enjoy just being happy and quickly let her know it could all be taken away if she didn’t make the right choices in life (Read: Do as I say). It was all fun and games until Victor took a hit from Jack, and now he wants the lines firmly drawn in the ground. Make no mistake about it, Claire. Your loyalty better be to Victor and not Kyle. Ever. Like, ever, ever. Imagine if Victor knew she’d just lost her virginity to the guy.
A Summernight’s Nightmare
When it comes to balancing loyalty to Kyle vs. The Fam, Claire could take a page from Summer’s book, but it doesn’t look like Summer wants to share anything. And that’s Claire’s third lesson of the week: Do not believe anything Summer tells her.
Claire has asked multiple times if Summer’s okay with Claire’s relationships with Kyle and Harrison, and every time, she claims it’s no problem, but clearly, Summer’s got a problem. I doubt it’s short-term memory loss, so I’m going to go with jealousy.
Claire shared that she was about to meet Kyle and tell him she was going to work with Nikki, so Summer told him before he could even sit down. Then Claire said (a few times) to Summer and Kyle that she wanted to be the one to tell Harrison, but Summer made sure that didn’t happen, either. Where is this headed? Does Summer actually want Kyle back? Or just doesn’t want Claire in? And do we care? After months of angry Kyle, I’m good with not seeing him in a triangle between those two.
But mini-Phyllis is a little disappointing only in that she had a little transformation when she started dating Chance, and it was for the better. She matured and he was (seemingly...back then...) a good influence on her. Summer and Kyle (thanks to the angry guy being persuaded by Claire) even ended up settling on an easy custody agreement after a bitter battle.
Then, Heather died, and all hell broke loose. Chance became a detective with a one-track mind, treated her like crapola, and got dumped. Meanwhile, Lily, who was on her own entitlement rampage, apparently came back from a trip and had a revelation about life and what matters — and she credits it to Heather dying. So how come Lily got a lesson from the tragedy, and all it did to Summer was revert her backward?
Personally, I think that Summer doesn’t actually want to be with Kyle, but she does like feeling like she has more influence over him than Claire. Regardless, bring her someone exciting, a little bad but not totally evil, and preferably someone that they won’t wonder if they’re related just as they fall for each other. Maybe Damian?
Not-So-Private Eyes
So Nate has agreed to find his half-brother, Damian, and he’s hired a private investigator to look for him. We know what Amy says about him, but she hasn’t seen her son in years. So, is Damian really the way she paints him? I guess we’re about to find out because next week, the super sleuth tells Nate and Amy that she’s found Damian.
Now, assuming that this isn’t a false alarm, and she’s not going to follow that up with something like, “But then I lost him again as he got on a bus,” then we should be starting the new year with a new Genoa City resident. Or visitor. Assuming he likes his new family, he’ll stick around. And with Lily, Devon, and Nate all working at Winters together, let’s assume the Hamilton-Winters-Hastings crowd is going to be a prominent family.
But here’s Damian, who wanted nothing to do with his family that he knew he had and was just out there living his life. Who knows what he’s actually like and where he’s at in life? But thanks to his mom, everyone has a pre-disposed notion of who he is. Depending on how he feels about his privacy, that might be a mood when everyone tells him who he is rather than getting to know him.
Or, maybe he is a screw-up of some kind, and he’ll share a seat at the end of the table with Audra as the family outcast.
Livin’ the dream, or something like it
So it turned out that Sharon wasn’t dreaming, and it was the drugs that made her do it. Mind you, we’re still not sure what exactly she did or didn’t do, but thankfully, Sharon is lucid enough now to figure things out and take action.
All these people around her supposedly to take care of her, and it’s Sharon making the appointments and asking the questions.
So, standby for a hypnotherapy session with Nick staring comfortably at the subject and Michael furiously taking notes on his steno pad. But what will it reveal? Did Sharon kill Heather? Pretty sure Ian and Jordan already implied it was Jordan, but we will hopefully get all the answers we need on that in the next few days.
Meanwhile, Phyllis is having flashbacks of her own, and they don’t look good in her plot to bring down Sharon once and for all. But why couldn’t Faith have done what her parents told her and gone back to school? Her and Lucy swapping seats is annoying. Now Faith is yelling at Phyllis with zero compassion (yep, you read that correctly, two words in the same sentence: Phyllis and compassion), and yeah, I get it, she wants to protect her mom, but Faith is no better than any of them the past few months. All of this ridiculousness with attacks and smears and sneering insults — have they learned nothing since Heather died? Faith’s doing to Phyllis what Sharon was months ago when all of this started.
Of course, Phyllis is upset, but this turnaround now that Phyllis is the villain when Faith’s mom is the one who confessed to a brutal murder and cover-up, that girl needs to settle down. She’s like a target for Ian and Jordan, just waiting to happen.
Silly Triangles
So are they together or not? I thought Billy gave the big ol’ friend-zoned hint to Sally last week when he was all, “Heyyyy, sex was great, but I don’t want a serious relationship.” But now they’re out jogging at night and talking about more sex? So it’s friends with benefits?
Not if Phyllis has something to say about it, though. Didn’t Phyllis already try to interfere with Sally and Jack way back when? Those Abbott boys sure do like their redheads. Which one for Billy, though, would be best? It’s a hard call. I like Billy, but I want more for Sally, and there’s so much history (and some of it terrible) with Phyllis, but I do like their friendship. And that’s something she needs.
End of an Era
Michael and Phyllis’ friendship ended…permanently? Hard to say. But what a blowout. There really was no reason for Michael to be Sharon’s attorney. Assuming they had more than three in GC. Christine took the Romalotti side, Heather’s gone, and that left only Michael in the whole city to represent Sharon? When Phyllis was in a coma, Michael should have declined, but Nick shouldn’t have asked, either.
They’ve gone through a lot together, and it would be a little sad to see the two of them lose their friendship for real, although against one another might be diabolical to watch.
Of course, the ship could be righted and the friendship intact if it turns out that it really was all a dream. I haven’t given up hope on that one, and I’m not sure why, other than being a fan of the plot twist that it would cause.
Until next time!
