What a week on The Young and the Restless when Chance was given opportunities to redeem himself, Amy asked for forgiveness, and Victor wanted revenge.

Another Chance

Oh boy. So much trouble is on the horizon, and I’m not even talking about the lurking of Ian Ward or even the likely resurrection of Aunt Jordan. I’m not even talking about not just Phyllis but Sharon, too, vanishing out of nowhere. There’s a real problem waiting to arise in Genoa City: Chance is on the case.

So Daniel figured out when Phyllis wasn’t harassing him daily that she was being unusually quiet, but then she didn’t respond to any of his texts and phone calls anymore, and he deduced she was actually missing. But then Summer countered with her usual snark to just ignore the clues and basically wasted 12 more hours that could have been spent finding their mom.

But at least she realized it and wanted to make things right, so she called Chance…of all people. So Chance rushed right over to find out what Summer needed, and she told him that Phyllis was unreachable. “Whoa, slow down,” Chance said. Not sure if he meant that snippet of info made Summer look like she was near hysteria or if it was just too much info for Chance to absorb

But it didn’t matter. Summer and Daniel gave Chance all the facts about Phyllis missing. He didn’t write anything down, but he didn’t need to. He just tapped his temple and let them know up there was for thinking and (points at shoes) down there is for dancing.

But Summer, being Summer, had to let Chance know that it wasn’t just his chance to shine for a change, and it wasn’t his job to find someone missing. This was his opportunity, or rather a first step that he could take to make things right between her and him after everything he had done to her brother, who was sitting right there and had already told her that he was over it. Awkward.

So Daniel and Chance exchanged knowing glances and Chance took on the case. Which, Daniel noted, was concerning that Chance would actually take it seriously after yelling at everyone for months that he had no clues and, therefore, could not sleuth.

Summer’s other chances

So Summer’s been claiming for months that she has no issues with Claire and Kyle’s relationship, but even Harrison must know by now that’s a crock. So in the midst of being worried that her mom is missing, Summer managed to run to Kyle for a hug, then take time out of her legit crisis to take swipes at her cousin and her ex.

She pointed out that Victor never had a problem with her and Kyle’s relationship. But of all people, he should have very much had a problem with that. Kyle only married Summer so she’d give her kidney to Lola, who he actually loved. So he divorced her and married Lola, then Summer convinced him to come back to her, and he divorced Lola and proposed to Summer, only to have Harrison’s mom, Tara Locke, come to town and blackmailed Summer to leave Kyle. I know, that made your head spin…but let’s just agree that a fairytale romance, it was not.

And that’s not even including how Audra fit in, or how awful they were to one another during their second divorce. Three times is not the charm here, and Summer needs to move on. Just not with Chance. Last summer, this Summer was a different person. When her and Chance were together, they brought out some great qualities together. Okay, so I can’t list what they were, but it was short-lived, so give me a break. But what I do know is Chance’s influence on Summer got her to civilly see Kyle's side in the custody battle with Harrison, and they managed to work it out so they could co-parent and even became friends again.

But this Summer has forgotten all about her good karma and can’t control her snark, even when her mom is missing. And the last thing she needs is to be involved with Chance when she’s still angry at him (and rightfully so), but if he can be that guy he was last year, and she goes back to maturing enough to make rational decisions sans attitude, then sure, give it a go. But that’s also kind of boring, and no one brings the sass like Summer, when she’s on her A-game. She’s just got to work on her timing.

Where is Phyllis?

Ah yes, Phyllis is indeed missing. And where could she be? Well, I know where she’s not: in the sewer. But with Sharon? Yep. And who is behind it? Ian Ward for sure, and probably Aunt Jordan. But where? And how? And most importantly, why? Let’s break it down: We knew Ian was still alive when his eyes flew open in the back of the ambulance as it left the ranch. As for Jordan, the last time we saw her talking was at the tack house, and she’d drank a cup of tea loaded with sleeping pills.

So what are the chances that Jordan woke up after being brought to the morgue, left unattended, then they wheel in Ian, who they thought was dead, only he helps Jordan get off her stretcher, and they both high-tail out of there. But they’re not done wrecking people’s lives, so they kidnap both Sharon and Phyllis, and now either they’ve got a double ransom on their hands or, more likely, plot to kill them to get revenge by hurting all of the Newmans, including Mariah and Claire. Of course, Sharon and Phyllis are going to have no choice but to work together to save themselves if, that is, they can trust one another.

Brothers in arms

So Damian has some serious problems going on in L.A. and according to Holden, they were already pushing the limits on stalling dealing with them by coming to Genoa City. But now, it’s time to get back there and deal with it. Enter Lily.

Damian, who turned his back and didn’t want to look back on his mom and his newly discovered half-brother, was all packed up and ready to catch a flight to L.A., but he bumped (literally) into Lily at Society. And just like that, Damian changed his mind about everything and decided to cancel the flight and stay.

Is it possible that he’s that taken like a love-at-first-sight thing with Lily? Is her snippety responses to him just too much of a challenge for him to turn down, even though no one’s offering? Or is he intrigued for another reason?

Victor did a background check on Damian and discovered something the P.I. Nate hired couldn’t: that the companies Damian runs (Monte Cristo Investments and Danglars Property Management) are owned by someone named Aristotle Dumas. Considering how close that is to Alexandre Dumas, the author of the book The Count of Monte Cristo, I think it’s safe to assume that Aristotle isn’t his or her real name. Maybe he goes by the name Cane Ashby? Or Tucker McCall? Or Phillip Chancellor?

But I’m going with Cane. And if it IS Cane, then wouldn’t it make sense that Damian would hit the brakes on leaving Genoa City when he happened to stumble upon Lily? Just like Holden figured out what Nate wanted for Damian, Damian could find out what’s going on in Lily’s life for Cane. And yep, I could totally be off with this, but my fingers are still crossed on this one coming true.

Beholden the past

So clearly Audra and Holden’s past goes pretty deep. He has made enough comments to know that they knew each other “intimately,” and he seems to know her pretty well as far as her personality goes. He knew her long enough to do a favor for her regarding Tucker. And by the sounds of it, it was a pretty huge favor, and she owes him “big time” for it.

So now that we’ve determined that Audra and Holden have a substantial past, it’s even more likely that she’ll dismiss it when it’s revealed that they know one another. But how is she going to explain greeting him as Damian in Nate’s home? Maybe Holden and Audra are destined for a bigger reunion than they know.

Anyone else getting the sense that Amy’s going to have a miracle cure and become a fixture in their lives? Nate’s insistence on sending her medical records to a friend in research seems like it’s heading that direction. And I’m pretty good with that idea, actually, I’d rather she did a complete 180 than have to go through all of them saying goodbye to her. And, Amy and Audra’s relationship is pretty good, gives Audra some depth, and more about her backstory. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to bring back Sally and introduce her to Holden though instead…

Victor Victorious

And then there’s the great Victor Newman. Nothing and no one will keep him down. Not Ian Ward, not Aunt Jordan, and definitely no near-fatal shooting will deter him from carrying through with his plans for revenge because the Abbotts deserve it. Not just Jack, but all of the Abbotts and Claire, but because of Jack. He spent a night! In a hotel! A night of debauchery!!

So instead of spending this time reflecting on his second chance at quality time, Victor is back at being hellbent on revenge for pretty much nothing — other than Jack saving Nikki’s life — and gossipy. He thinks Lily is interested in some guy named Damian, and he has to know why. Michael has been summoned, and let me guess…Victor will claim he suddenly needs to look out for Lily. But will he find out who Aristotle is first?

As always, let me know what you think! Lots of stuff is coming up this month, and I’m here for it — how about you?!

Until next time!
