On The Young and the Restless, Nate made contact with and met his half-brother Damian. Nate isn't telling Damian the truth at the cafe where they met; both are fully aware.

A mystery in itself, Nate (Sean Dominic) on The Young and the Restless has chosen to begin his interactions with his half-brother Damian King (Nathan Owens) with lies instead of coming out and telling him the real reason for tracking him down. The way the conversation has been going may make things harder or easier — for Nate. Damian is quite cagey, and for good reason. Out of nowhere, a man from a prestigious company has shown up in Los Angeles, been able to track him down, and set up an in-person meeting. Damian moves about and hasn't stayed in any one job or apartment for more than a couple of months at a time for the past year. But instead of sounding like an aimless drifter, he presents himself as confident and purposeful.

Despite Nate's preconceived notions, Damian actually sounds exactly like someone who’s very much in control of his life and has made an effort to remain hard to find — the kind of effort that would make it nearly impossible for someone to find him without using a private investigator with lots of resources that the average person does not.

Bearing that in mind, Damian must have wondered how and why Nate would have not only come across his name but zeroed on him as a potential hire for Winters. Surely Damian can see that if Nate is putting in that much effort, there must be a good reason — and it's not a job offer.

During their conversation, Damian smiled when Nate explained that Winters would like to offer him a job with more money and the sky is the limit in terms of potential. That kind of smile said he saw through all of that. What company would target someone who doesn't like to stay in one job for over a few months and has a track record to back that up? Nate offered up that there was more to his efforts than just that, and there was a personal reason: family. Nate claimed he had read his resume, but it doesn't appear that Damian would have been sending out resumes hoping to get a job at a major company like Winters. That would have made tracking him down far simpler without the need for a P.I.

The conversation ended, and Damian left the cafe. Immediately, Nate summoned Audra (Zuleyka Silver) and Amy (Valerie Pettiford) to the same table to discuss what had just transpired. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that the ever-careful and suspicious Damian might have been nearby to see who Nate met afterward or where he went. Someone this careful about remaining hidden would take these sorts of precautions, have questions of his own, and may well go about finding the answers. This week on The Young and the Restless, more of Damian's secrets are revealed — but what about Nate's?

Audra suggested that Nate get real and tell Damian the truth about his intentions. If he has any chance of it landing well, he needs to drop the guise and tell him before Damian disappears again.

But Damian clearly has more secrets, or at least details about his life, that we don't know yet. He didn't ask to meet Nate; he doesn't know him, and he owes him no explanation of where he's been and what he's doing. But this week on The Young and the Restless, Nate discovers more information on his half-brother, which rattles him. Has he made a mistake offering him a job? Lily had a bad feeling about Damian coming to Winters — has she already been proven right before he even steps foot in Genoa City?

Fan reaction to Damian and Nate

As for the mystery surrounding the newest member of Nate's family, fans have been sharing their thoughts on the Soap Central message boards.

Senior board member Loyalyr said, “This is too farfetched. Ok so Nate mentions that Damian worked for Monte Cristo Investments. But then Nate tells Damian he has lived at apts owned by a company named after a character in the book. Damian said he read the book as a child. Nate says we vet our potential employees. No potential employer contacting someone checks where they live or what company runs those apt. complexes. Damian must be playing along. He might not know the entire truth but he knows something is up. Or he would ask why are you stalking me? I like Damian and he is too smart for this nonsense.”

User Good Kitty said, “And Nate is too smart not to have checked out who owns Monte Cristo because the obvious answer Is that it’s Damien. Also puzzling is now that Damien is found why doesn’t Nate just tell him who he is? Damien’s going to be angrier at this ruse than if Nate had just come clean. I hope the SL is just not another waste of time because Damien looks too fine to lose. 😉”

Littleliz wrote “Damien has to be suspicious of Nate by now. He’s a little obvious if you ask me. Not sure why writers decided we needed a brother for Nate. Something isn’t ringing true with his mom either. Any other mom if dying would just confront her son and say I’m sorry so they could be together in her last days.”

Viewers agree that Nate shouldn't be hiding behind the lure of a job offer to get to know his brother. Time will tell, but if you ask this writer, the tables will be turned, and Nate and his family are about to be the ones under scrutiny soon. How do you think this storyline will play out?
