What a week on The Young and the Restless when Victor’s flying monkeys couldn’t protect the Newmans, Sharon found the yellow brick road, and Billy sang, “If I only had a heart.”

More training required

During several of our viewing parties of The Young and the Restless, Victor told his security team to follow Ian back to his motel and not lose sight of him, we thought he meant it verbatim. Ian even pointed out “Victor’s security guy” to Tessa and Mariah in the park, mentioning that he couldn’t make a move without them seeing it. I’ll give them the grace that maybe they took the instructions so literally that they would send one person to follow him at a time, and if he left the hotel room, then they would follow him and only him — and therefore, they wouldn’t see Jordan coming and going.

But, if that was how they did it, then when he was in the hotel room, Victor’s security would have been outside, staring at that door and window and ensuring he didn’t leave without them seeing. So, didn’t they see Jordan storm out after their fight? She even stood in the doorway for a moment as part of her dramatic exit.

If the motel manager had seen a woman with long blond hair and glasses coming and going from Ian’s room, wouldn’t security have done the same? Maybe Victor should offer the manager a job instead. And I’m assuming she donned the glasses and wig in her truck after leaving? Or maybe she bought a new wig after leaving because I could’ve sworn she had left that inside the room the last time she came in with an oolong tea.

Ian dipped out

As for the Wizard of Genoa City, Ian seems to have been missing for a really long time. After he and Jordan broke up, she left him seething in the motel room. The next time we saw him was at Society when he came in to convince Tessa he was a changed man. Where do Victor’s security guards go every time Ian goes to Society anyway?

We all saw the writing on the wall with Ian and Tessa for the last couple of weeks on The Young and the Restless, right? Mariah pointed out several times that Tessa grew up around people like Ian and knew all too well what he was all about. She even told Ian he had no hope of infiltrating her. Boy, was she wrong. For some unknown reason, Tessa was so touched that Ian just happened to be waiting for her outside of Society when she didn’t have an asthma attack with an inhalator holding an antidote that it outweighed every conniving, murderous thing she’s ever been told about the guy. “He saved my life,” she keeps saying dreamily. Wake up, Tessa, please.

Sure, they had no idea at the time that he was in cahoots with Jordan, but did they need to? If your wife says, ‘Hey, there’s the guy that kidnapped me as a baby, raised me as his daughter in a cult, then tried to marry me, and is my obsessed stalker that tried to kill my family a few times,’ would you really be that willing to fall for his supposed charms? Even her boss at least banned him from the place, and there’s Tessa pulling him up a chair.

Not that she needs my scoldings…looks like next week, Tessa and Aria have gone missing. Does Ian have them tied up in the motel room, ready to make a trade for Mariah? I hear it’s the best place in town to hide someone.

The Young and the Restless' Dynamic Duo

Speaking of the motel room, to be fair, the security team could have taken a break while Chance was in there. Not that he noticed Jordan, either, who was literally standing right behind him. But he brought along Nick when they broke and entered, and then searched the place. And by searched, I mean Nick opened one drawer and then complained they were all empty and he couldn’t take it anymore. He went to find Sharon on his own.

Nick returned without Sharon, but with lots of information, which he gave in small portions until Chance could see the bigger picture. The motel manager knew a woman with long blonde hair was in the room with Ian. Neither Chance nor Ian wondered if that was Sharon, though, don’t worry. Instead, they had no idea who fit that description. Then Nick shared that he actually almost caught the woman. Say what?? Yes, that’s right, a blonde wearing glasses was running across the parking lot when he was coming out of the manager’s office, so Nick chased her. But, she was faster than him and got away. Makes me wonder how big that motel parking lot is!

It didn’t matter, though, because shortly thereafter, Claire picked up Jordan and took her home. What on earth did those two talk about on the ride there? Jordan hid under a blanket in the backseat, and of course, the security team didn’t bother even looking under it. So she brought her home to the tack house and made tea.

Jordan spills the tea, then drinks it

So Claire got Jordan to brag about all the things she got away with — except killing Heather because Ian got the credit for that — and then Nikki and Victoria swooped down the stairs armed with miffed looks and really cross words.

And now I have a question. Victoria’s house doesn’t have curtains, so being that it was at night, and all the lights were on inside, what exactly did Victor and Nick see before they walked in and seemed surprised. Were they pointing out the stars on the way over? Looking for the security team? Was Victor staring at his phone again? How did they not see the scene going on inside and come in more prepared? The last time they were all together, Nick had a knife in his chest. Even one glance through the window would’ve revealed that no one had anything to help protect them, and other than being outnumbered, Jordan was next to the kitchen knives.

Sure, they danced back and forth about whether or not Jordan was buying her act, but sleeping pills…really? As Jordan herself pointed out, she’d trained Claire in “chemicals” to make poisons and antidotes. She was literally trained in this, but instead, she smashed up some sleeping pills and put them in the tea.

Most importantly, we didn’t see proof that Jordan died. Maybe she did. Maybe that dramatic hand-clutching sign-off was legit, and Victor suddenly believed his security team could handle a burial…or something. But why start now? Wouldn’t you want to make sure she was 100% not waking up?

And now, I’ve got some theories. What if Jordan isn’t dead at all? What if the “sleeping pills” were a ruse? She said she’d fight off the paramedics, and when that woman is determined and angry, look out. Then there’s Ian, who is still on the loose. What if he came to the ranch, saw security guards with his unconscious honey, killed them all, and woke up Jordan?

Or, maybe security just assumed Jordan was dead, and they could take a dinner break. They come back, and the body’s missing. Oops, sorry, Boss.

But then, there’s the much more interesting possibility that Claire was being honest with Jordan all along, and the real target was and still is the Newmans. What if she didn’t want to kill Jordan, but decided to resign to the fact that she’d never get rid of Jordan, and there was some truth to believing she’d never really fit into her high-society life. What if Claire let Jordan kill Victoria, and they take the inheritance and leave the Newmans behind for good? Or rather, for evil, but you know what I mean.

Maybe Claire knew she wouldn’t kill Jordan with the sleeping pills. (Wait a second, where did she even get those from?!) Maybe Claire knew Jordan would survive and this was all an act for the family.

Next week, Ian is back, and he’s furious — but why now? What’s making him pull the trigger (spoiler) now when he was playing his own long game of revenge? He’s going to come blazing into the ranch house (see theory above), ready to take out the Newmans. “What’s the matter, Ian? Someone drop a house on your sister?”

After months of dark thoughts and his own revenge plots, Billy dove deep into his feelings and figured out he was more like Sally and less like Ian. He decided to shelve the revenge and get on with his life. And just like that, Sally was there with a home makeover, some feng shui, and open arms.

With the help of hallucinations of Nick, Sharon found the inner strength to put one foot in front of the other and find her way out of the sewer. She told Faith that Cameron was gone forever. Say it isn’t so! Okay, it isn’t so. Don’t worry about our favorite Casper, he’s back next week. Maybe just to say goodbye, but hopefully to sprinkle some more sarcastic advice as needed. No, he didn’t change the shirt.

What do you think, fellow fans of The Young and the Restless? Is Jordan really dead or is she going to do a jump scare soon? And is Claire really reformed, or she still Jordan’s mini-me? As for Billy, I don’t know what type of business venture he’s going into next, but happy he’s going to go that direction. Ian and Jordan took the cornerstone on revenge plots lately, and Billy just needs some real happiness for once.

Til next week!
