What a week on The Young and the Restless when Kyle made a proposal, Audra struck a deal, and Chance was all about closure.
Is it Alan or Martin on The Young and the Restless

Welp, we finally found out the truth: Alan is Martin. Or Martin was Alan. However you want to call it, the twins are no more. It’s not like any of us didn’t suspect otherwise for a year, but it sure played out quickly…or did it?
Martin dropped us some hints along the way, but he wasn’t in town all that much. He would come and go from Paris, or so he said — maybe he was in the farmhouse most of the time. But when he was in Genoa City, he said some odd but subtle things like marveling at the Abbott mansion as if it was the first time he’d seen it.
Traci and Martin got together but all of the in and out of town stuff made it seem like this storyline was on the backburner — until last month when Sharon and Phyllis were kidnapped. Or rather, after they were saved. At the time, Martine was one of many suspects, but it wasn’t until we saw Martin with the video monitoring app on his phone that we realized he was a real problem.
Fast forward just a few weeks later and the whole story has played out already. Traci started to suspect something was off, confided in Jack, and next thing we know, Sharon and Phyllis are getting Martin to confess. So now what? That’s just…it? For someone as maniacal and dangerous as Martin was professed to be, it’s just a little strange that he’s just gone moments after being revealed.
Not that I want to see anyone get hurt, per se, and yes, Sharon and Phyllis did almost die when he had them locked up, but we didn’t know it was him at the time. With Ian Ward still presumably alive and on the loose, and most likely Aunt Jordan as well, it would only fit if Martin’s storyline wasn’t quite over. Like maybe Alan is just as nuts as his brother after all, and the fingerprints come back to be his. Or maybe they weren’t twins, they were triplets and the #3 is worse than anything.
Take another Chance…and another

Regardless if the Martin storyline is over or not…can we pause a sec and talk about Chance? Yeah, yeah, I get it…it’s not real. But come onnnnn. Chance goes from not knowing anything to not knowing how to use his phone.
Whatever happened to not being able to comment about an ongoing investigation? Not Chance. He hightails it over to anyone’s house to update them on about the tiniest shred of info. Yet at the same time ignores the clues in front of him. It’s hard to keep up with this guy.
And isn’t the Newman ranch way out of town? Yet Chance drives back and forth to say “We made a phone call” and “We’re analyzing fingerprints.” Why though? Didn’t Sharon tell him she was flying to London? She should have been long gone but yet Chance drove out there, twice. So I’m going to assume that he knew she was going away and/or wasn’t because she called him…at which point he could have simply given her the update.
No Chance This Summer

Speaking of the Detective Obvious, he wrapped things up with Summer. Well, he kind of did to her face, and then she slipped out the door while he was, ironically, on the phone getting an update about Sharon and Phyllis’ kidnapping case. But before he drove an hour to tell them what he was told in person, he confronted his kinda-sorta girlfriend, Summer, about the status of their relationship. Somehow, he got her to do the impossible: get real with herself.
All Chance has to do is look Summer in the eye and ask a question, and she folds. This time, she finally admitted her true feelings for Kyle and about his relationship with Claire. And although none of us were surprised by that revelation, Summer seemed to surprise herself by saying it out loud.
But aren’t we done with Kymmer? Er…Skyle? They were toxic together, which sure, can make for a good soap, or even be mandatory in most, but Chance and Summer were good for one another, and we actually liked the characters better when they were together.
Phyllis was right: Chance and Summer never really had a fair shot. But she got the line of the week award when she said, “He’s a cop. And we’re an endless parade of crimes and investigations.”
Kindred spirits

Oddball pairing of the week went to Victor going to Audra for help in some petty revenge, and her actually entertaining the offer. Does Audra’s contempt for Kyle seriously override her dislike (and distrust) of Victor, and her loyalty to Nate?
This makes no sense. If Audra wants nothing to do with Kyle romantically, and doesn’t intend on seducing him, why risk her relationship with Nate for any reason? It doesn’t really add up, unless she’s preparing for something else. With Holden in town, and her lying about that history, and Damian still keeping secrets, not to mention Aristotle lurking somewhere in the shadows…does Audra know more than she’s letting on about the Count of Monte Cristo? There must be more to it than an opportunity to break up Claire and Kyle.
The Happy Couple

Ah yes, Claire and Kyle. While the constant running into Victor at a coffee shop so they have enough liquids to mark their territory, Kyle asking Claire to move in would be a destiny of doom for that relationship.
No couple survives living in the Abbott mansion. Other than Jack and Diane, who can barely trust each other to handle a reno, what possible good could come of them shacking up there? Other than Jordan finding some new territory to haunt, or Martin coming back to turn the place upside down. The Newman ranch already had its drama for a bit, maybe Claire should move in so she can find Summer dropping by daily, and with all the bickering, Kyle spends more time at the office with Audra.
I’d really rather see Claire with Holden than Kyle, so I’m hardly a champion for their relationship, but Victor’s obsession with it is getting weird. He screwed over Kyle, not the other way around, so why is he so hellbent on revenge? I’m not buying that it’s only because he hates Jack and Billy so much. But I’m also not believing that Kyle doesn’t suddenly want to live with Claire because he thinks they’re ready for that: It’s totally about rubbing it in Victor’s face.
Noah’s Ark

Who else had their jaw drop when Nick told Sharon that he not only wanted to go with her to London but he rearranged her plans to take the Newman jet? The shocking part was how lit up Nick was about it. He almost seemed more thrilled than Sharon on The Young and the Restless.
But that didn’t happen and they bailed on Noah per Phyllis’ request. But next week, Victor thinks it’s time for Nick to take a break from Sharon and all her drama. Come on, now Vic, you really think that’s going to do it? Suggestions like that will just delight Shick fans everywhere when Nick races right into the fire.
What do you think? Any new theories on the Count of Genoa City? Is Martin a triplet? Will Audra lose Nate and fall for Kyle in the process? Maybe Summer isn’t the threat she thought, but Audra Charles in the mix might be too much for both of those Newman cousins to handle.
Until next time!
