What a week of The Young and the Restless when some Genoa City residents were all about revenge.

So Silly

If the best revenge is being happy, then Sally and Billy, aka Silly, are ecstatic right now. In a rare case of getting-to-know-you-first on a soap, Silly has gone from having something unfortunate in common to having not-revenge sex. And it works.

Because usually, we don’t get to witness dialogue other than a compliment or a side eye thrown, and voila, they’re in love. Not for these two! Instead, we watched them commiserate, then choose to not discuss their heartbreaks, then get to know each other on several dates (several!! What time warp are we in?) and a couple of kisses in, they still hadn’t said they loved one another, made plans to move in, or became stalkerish. Is this even a soap anymore? Like two real people, Silly talked, laughed, and made us watch.

And then the magic happened. We went from “Do we really want to see these two as a couple?” to “Hey, I hope this works out,” and apparently, so did they. As we were treated to real people dialogue, Silly found their groove and got it on. And instead of that awkward regret afterward, they both admitted that they knew it would be great revenge sex — but the great part overruled the vengefulness, and they decided to keep going with a…beneficial…friendship?. And now, it seems, that pairing isn’t so silly after all.

And, right out of the gate (or the bed, rather), the first person to see them together in public is Adam? Billy’s luck took an upswing. Maybe Adam’s fist will, too.

Abbott Elementary

So Jack and Diane confessed to Kyle that they had to go to extreme lengths to get it through his thick skull that he’s a gullible idiot to trust Jack’s well-known, lifelong archnemesis over his own parents.

Kyle’s reaction was hurt and anger, and he displayed it with pursed lips, a dramatically terse tone, and he put himself on a time out.

The End.

Abbott Elementary, part duh

Diane’s now willing to give up her position to please Kyle, but Jack realizes they’ve raised a spoiled brat and doesn’t want him

“stomping around the halls like a miniature version of Victor Newman.” Loved that analogy, and was it ever accurate.

Not to mention the trust factor. Sure, they were lying to him, but Kyle was a genuine asshat; he stole from his family, and he wanted to destroy his family’s legacy. If he was pissed at getting called out by his parents, did he at least have some respect for the rest of the Abbotts?

Claire is some miracle worker to get through Kyle’s hostile era unscathed…so far. But if she thinks he won’t cheat on her with Summer, guess again. And I know she’s inexperienced in relationships, but someone please tell her that in the history of people, fictional or not, no, Claire, you’re not going to change him.

Because character redemption might be a thing but Kyle is the Abbott’s version of Adam, only more entitled. At least Adam knows he’s the family outsider, Kyle’s in a whole other league.

I would’ve told you so

Like her or hate her, you had to feel something for Phyllis when she missed her big moment. After all of her attempts at getting everyone in Genoa City to see that Sharon was the one that framed Daniel for Heather’s murder, Sharon confessed — and Phyllis was unconscious.

All these weeks, we knew what they didn’t. And who didn’t envision that moment when Phyllis found out and got to scream at everyone, “I told you so!!” Instead, they had to somberly tell her the news of Sharon’s confession and then hope that she woke up to get her reaction.

But at least she knows now, and in fact, she did get to scream, “I told you so.” It was just to Chance, so it got zero reaction, but more on that in a sec.

But Sharon is out and about and free for now, and Phyllis should be recovered enough to be discharged soon.

And what are the chances that Phyllis will need coffee when she gets out of the hospital? It’s only a matter of time before their paths cross, and everyone will continue to comfort and protect Sharon and treat Phyllis like the villain.

What a shot to the heart, too, the way Chance told Phyllis that her bff was defending Sharon. It’s like he enjoyed it or something. This brings us to something that’s been a headscratcher for a while now, and it seemingly isn’t ending with Sharon’s confession: What the heck is up with Chance?

Lack of character

Okay, I’m stumped. I have no idea who Chance is anymore or what he’s about. But I know who he’s not, and that’s The Brilliant Detective, and I’m stripping him of that title.

Are we sure Chance is not some clueless long-lost twin that Ian used his identity switch powers to swap out? This Chance hasn’t just muddied the waters of the investigation, but he’s almost robotically done the opposite of what he should have every step of the way.

And not just in the investigation, but with Summer, Daniel, and Phyllis. Starting the day Heather died, he immediately rushed to Daniel’s to tell him “news that was going to upset him.” The man had just ID’d Heather at the morgue and told his daughter that her mom died, and Chance thought he had a show-stopper that would upset him more? Odd.

Summer cried that she needed him, and he made everything worse, and because he refused to be helpful to her family in any type of way, her mom might die. Chance stared at her stone-faced and said he didn’t have “the luxury of feelings.” Odd.

Phyllis wakes up and is screaming at him that she nearly got killed because of him, and he just stared, emotionless, while her heart monitor practically exploded. He did the most annoying thing in the world (other than responding “k”) and just repeated his question, wanting to know what events led up to the crash. Odd. Moreso because, as a first responder, he would know that someone who’d been in a crash and a coma would need their vitals in check, regardless of his repetitive questioning. She can’t answer anything if she has a heart attack and dies.

So, for Chance to do nothing except repeat himself was an odd choice. He could have at least had Elena come check her out or calm her down or something. Instead, he chose to be frustrating. Again. Odd.

There has to be a reason, right? It can’t be that one of the most central people in the whole murder mystery has had such a pivotal role in the Romalottis’ lives and then just shrugs it off like no big deal afterward. And continues to do it.

Is it possible that Chance isn’t Chance after all? Or is he really just a dumbass, and I never noticed? What a choice. If someone knows the answer to this, please explain it to me. He hurts my head.

He stopped and spied on Summer and Kyle at Crimson Lights like he’d never seen them talking before — but he was the one who convinced her to make peace with Kyle during the custody chaos. And then he came in and TOLD Summer that she should be at the hospital as if she didn’t know where she was needed. And the way he went after Phyllis a few weeks ago for faking her death — rather rich coming from someone who faked his own.

But the ignorant way that he keeps dismissing people and facts and saying “there is no evidence” when there is, it’s just against everything that he’s supposed to do and we need to figure out where that’s coming from.

Unequal partners in crime

Speaking of Ian and Jordan, interesting dynamics going on there. So Ian got Jordan out of jail with an “identity switch,” and I have to wonder if they keep mentioning that because it’s going to be a thing, but they gotta know we demand an explanation on how these two are even together.

It seems the deal they have is that Jordan does Ian’s bidding, and then he’ll help her later with her revenge plot. Call me crazy, but I’m not sure I’d take him at word value there.

In the meantime, Jordan pointed out that Ian could go out and about easier than she could, but he wants her to go eavesdrop to find out Faith and Mariah’s reactions to Sharon’s charges. None of that makes sense…other than assuming that Jordan’s better at disguises and flying under the radar than Ian is.

Honestly, I was rooting for a serial killer, Chance having a dark side, Sharon dreaming, or even Lucy being a psycho. Not sure I’ve said this out loud, but I was even open to having it be that Daniel DID do it and Heather’s text to Paul was true.

But here we are. And part of me is curious to see how it turns out, but the jury’s out on Ian and Jordan being back in town — and together. I want to know the whole story, dammit!

But I have a theory, or three…apparently, Ian Ward was let out of prison after his term, and he’s out and about legally, roaming the streets of Genoa City. Ok, not really. He’s holed up in a motel and telling Jordan to do his bidding, but he COULD roam the streets if he wanted to (which is coming, yet he wears a disguise — if we call a hat and sunglasses a disguise). But Ian loves the element of surprise, though, so it’ll be interesting to see who he reveals himself to. What if…it was Phyllis?

Phyllis and Ian have a history, and I’m sure one of you who pays better attention to detail or has had more coffee than I today will remember exactly how it left off in Newman Tower when it also crashed and burned with Phyllis in it because of Ian. Was that the last time those two former friends by a different name spoke?

And then there’s the identity switch. Ian said he used that to get Jordan out of prison, but he did that years ago as well. Victor came to the jail, and Ian was supposed to be in it years ago, but Ian had used an identity switch to fake him out while Ian was actually free and wreaking havoc somewhere else. Does any of that have anything to do with today?

Elsewhere in Genoa City

Summer dumped Chance, temporarily at least, and all the cheers go to her for that. She’s had enough of him, and hopefully, her family fares a little better without him around. Or at arm’s length, anyway.

Nick needs to get a grip. If he’s going to try this hard to save Sharon, he needs to just get back together with her and make it his full-time job. Or is it already? Does he even work? And where is Christian?

Chelsea and Adam are going to end up living in that other ranch house sooner than later, is my guess. And with Sharon down the road and Adam needing someone else to mess with now that Billy trumped him by sleeping with Sally, he’ll probably find a new interest in her again.

And speaking of Billy, that was unnecessarily cruel for Jack not to tell Billy the truth when he asked to work at Jabot. Talk about kicking a guy when he's down. And he even started the convo by telling Jack that he was spiralling and needed his help. Letting him leave feeling like even more of a loser and unsupportive was hard to explain — especially when Jack didn't even want Kyle to return to Jabot, etiher.

And still, wondering…now more than ever…has Claire actually changed, or is she another cog in the Ian/Jordan wheels of misfortune?

Until next time!
