Emmy nominee Alyvia Alyn Lind stresses importance of Faith's online bullying story on Y&R

The Young and the Restless' Alyva Alyn Lind opens up about receiving her third Daytime Emmy nomination and shares how much she personally related to Faith's important online bullying storyline.

Many fans of The Young and the Restless miss Alyvia Alyn Lind in the role of Faith Newman, and the sentiment is felt by the actress, as well. In a new interview that celebrates her third Daytime Emmy nomination for playing the legacy Genoa City character, Lind tells Soap Central via email that this nomination is the most important in her life yet, mostly because it keeps her feeling connected to the TV family that she misses with every ounce of her heart.

Soap Central: Congratulations on your Emmy nomination! How do you feel about being honored in this way?

Alyvia Alyn Lind: I think this nomination means the most to me because I think about the show every day, and this connects me to Y&R again. I Zoomed with all the nominees, and it gave me such a bittersweet feeling. I'm so happy for everyone, and I miss them!

Soap Central: What were you doing when you found out you'd been nominated, and how did you react?

Lind: I'm currently working in Canada, and I wasn't able to get CBS live on my TV. My mom was in NY and caught the news online and called me (along with five of our close friends), and needless to say, I was beyond ecstatic! I happened to be with my current castmates, and they were so supportive, and we all celebrated.

Soap Central: Which family members or friends did you share the exciting news with first, and how did they react?

Lind: My sisters called soon after the announcement, and we all had a little Zoom party!

Soap Central: You mentioned the other nominees, but have you been in contact with anyone else from Y&R about your nomination?

Lind: The Y&R family is so supportive. I heard from my TV "family" members and CBS and our producers. It made me feel so close to everyone again. I can't wait to see them all in person!

Soap Central: What scenes did you submit for your reel?

Lind: Faith was given such a relevant storyline last year. For my submission, I focused on Faith's bullying scenes and the scenes where she turned to alcohol to numb her pain. Having had to deal quite often with "haters" online, it was especially easy for me to relate to her issues. A lot of fans reached out to me and thanked me for representing how difficult it is for teenagers in high school to navigate family and friend relationships. It's really fulfilling to me when the show makes such a difference in a person's life.

Soap Central: What do you remember about filming those scenes?

Lind: What I remember from shooting those scenes is how lucky I was to have such great scene partners. I've always felt such great chemistry with Josh [Morrow, Nicholas Newman] and Sharon [Case, Sharon Newman] and Mel [Thomas Scott, Nikki Newman] and Eric [Braeden, Victor Newman]. It always feels easy with them, and we are always there for each other. I'm so lucky that from an early age, I was able to work with the best in the business. I learned so much from them over the years.

Soap Central: What are you most looking forward to about the Emmy ceremony in June?

Lind: This year I'm most excited to see everyone in person because it's been way too long. I know how hard everybody works on Y&R, and it's so much fun celebrating everyone's accomplishments together. I think this year, I'm thinking more about reconnecting than the actual award ceremony.

Soap Central: How early do you think you'll start planning what you'll wear? Or perhaps you've already started thinking about it?

Lind: I was literally searching for dresses before I started answering your questions! I have the most amazing stylist on [my show, Chucky], and she's a big Y&R fan, coincidentally. So, I am throwing ideas at her, and she's helping me out!

Soap Central: Receiving your third Emmy nomination is definitely worth celebrating -- have you already celebrated or do you plan to celebrate?

Lind: I already celebrated with my family and friends, and believe me, we will be celebrating every day until the awards! I couldn't be more excited!
