The Young and the Restless' Bryton James reunites with Victoria Rowell in soapy comedy

Mother and son reunite! The Young and the Restless' Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla Winters) is thrilled to announce that Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) is starring in the new season of her series, The Rich and the Ruthless.

Fans of The Young and the Restless' Winters family were recently given some super sweet moments when Devon (Bryton James) reunited with his brother, Moses, who just returned to Genoa City, played by daytime newcomer Jacob Aaron Gaines. But that's not the only Winters family reunion going on. Victoria Rowell, who played Devon's mother, Drucilla Winters, is thrilled to share that her former TV son is heading to her series, The Rich and the Ruthless!

Season four of the binge-worthy series is set to premiere on BET+ on Thursday, May 13, and Rowell shared on Instagram that James is a part of the project. "We welcome talented EMMY Award Winning actor @brytonejames @youngandrestlesscbs to our cast!" Rowell shared. "It was a dream to direct my TV son!"

Created, produced, and directed by Rowell, The Rich and the Ruthless is a comedy series that follows a self-made businessman who moves production of his beloved soap opera to his own mansion when the studio unceremoniously cancels the show after a 20-year run. It is loosely based on Rowell's novels, Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva and The Young and the Ruthless. The six-episode first season premiered on the streaming service Urban Movie Channel in 2017; its fourth season, which also consists of six episodes, will be available in full on BET+ this May.

There's no word yet on what kind of character Bryton James will play on the soapy comedy, but fans know he'll kill it, no matter what. After all, he's been charming daytime fans in the role of Y&R's Devon since 2004 and has comedy experience, too, having grown up starring on the sitcom Family Matters. He also is a Daytime Emmy winner, having taken home the Outstanding Supporting Actor award in 2020 and the Outstanding Younger Actor award in 2007 for his work as Y&R's Devon.

Rowell played the role of Y&R's Drucilla from 1993 to 1998 and again from 2003 to 2007, when Drucilla went over a cliff during a fight with Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and was presumed dead. Although Rowell hasn't returned to Genoa City since her exit, she did appear as herself in a 2019 Y&R tribute episode honoring the late Kristoff St. John (ex-Neil Winters).

Some of Rowell's most recent projects include hosting the home makeover reality series Trash vs Treasure and starring in The Rich and the Ruthless, Jacqueline and Jilly, and the female-focused BET Her Presents: The Waiting Room. She also recently launched a podcast called Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva.
