The Young and the Restless' Sharon Case (Sharon Newman) opens up about how her alter ego's second breast cancer scare could lead to "an entirely different second chapter to the other half of Sharon's life."
It's been an incredibly scary time for The Young and the Restless' Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), who has been bravely facing a battle with breast cancer that has progressively gotten more serious. Her first surgery wasn't successful, and now she's facing an antagonizing wait to hear the results of her second surgery.
"When she first got into it, the doctors give you these solutions. You're gonna get treatment, you're gonna have a surgery... you think positively that you're gonna do these things and that's gonna be it. But when that doesn't end up resolving it, you feel as though your odds have now just gone down," Case tells Soaps In Depth of Sharon's current emotional state. "So in Sharon's mind, there's a better chance that these test results are going to come back worse than the last test results."

Unfortunately, this means that Sharon is preparing for the worst. But Case is looking forward to what could come next for her alter ego should she win her fight with cancer.
"What would be great to come out of this storyline of illness is people sometimes reinvent themselves after they come out of something like that," she shares, adding that a near-death experience could completely change the trajectory of the rest of Sharon's life. "Sharon's always been this kind of stay-at-home mom, Mother Earth-type, which has been lovely. But maybe what this storyline could mean when it ends is we see an entirely different second chapter to the other half of Sharon's life."
